We were excited when we saw there was a Thai place in town during our 2 day stay in Sequim. The evening began with us sitting and ordering our dinner...and the marathon wait began. 45 mins later, we finally decided to ask for the food To Go and just eat it in our hotel room. It took at least another 15 mins, but we got our order and left. The order was correct and complete but the food was not good. One of us had the staple Pad Thai and the other some sort of fried rice dish. The noodles were some sort of freeze dried noodles which we couldn't finish. I will say the sauce they gave to mix in with the noodles tasted good. The rice was dry and hard to eat. Over all just not good at all - and at those prices should have been amazing! My friend and I came in yesterday, Sunday evening, for an early dinner around 6pm. The restaurant was about half full with the smaller tables almost all taken. We were seated pretty much immediately. I had read that a lot of items could be veganized but I typically avoid ordering items where a bunch of ingredients have to be removed to make it vegan. So I got #61, which is laad-na noodles, which I don't think I have ever tried before, with soft tofu. There was also an option to get friend tofu. Apparently laad na means stuff your face which makes a lot of sense. My noodles came in a big bowl with gravy, veggies, rice noodles, and tofu. It was quite hot initially so I ate it quite slowly. The gravy made it almost like a soup. I got medium spice which wasn't spicy at all for me. If I come back, I might go up one, but this was very comfortable. I thought my dish was perfection, so yummy, would absolutely get again and makes me excited to try more of their menu if I get the chance. My friend got basil noodles and said hers was satisfying and hit the spot. Service was also amazing. We didn't have to ask for anything, they were on top of it. The kitchen was very efficient too as we seated towards the back so we could see how quietly they operated. We also heard plenty of calls come in for takeout orders so clearly this a popular spot. The menu items were adjustable for some of us who needed vegan options The servers were so friendly and even though it was less than an hour to closing they still were super helpful and friendly to our 9 person group!! The only thing was that I asked for 4/5 spicy, and my dish came out not spicy at all, and I had to ask for chili oil. Food: 1) Spicy Beef Stir fry Lunch Special 4/5 - it came with a small salad and brown rice was $2 extra. It was a solid stir fry with an unique young ginger taste. 2) Basil Noodle with Chicken 4/5 - I don't see the combo of basil and cilantro in Thai dishes much, but it's very delicious. 3) Vegetarian Spring Rolls 4/5 - pretty big rolls filled with vegetables. They came out piping hot, and stayed hot for 15 minutes. The sweet and sour sauce was very strong. Overall, food was good. I was staying at the Casino Hotel in Sequim and, after a few days, wanted to explore life and activities outside of the hotel. So, I ventured into the town. I tapped my handy button on my steering wheel and said "Google, where is the best Thai restaurant nearby?" Of course, I expected Google to get me to some Thai restaurant but I had no idea it would direct me to this gem. What a find. The first thing that caught my eye was it was more like a hole in the wall Thai restaurant attached to another hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. What I mean by that is it didn't look all that appealing from the outside. And, honestly these types of restaurants often have better food than the ones that look all fancy. When I walked in everybody was friendly enough, and it looked like a typical restaurant nothing particularly interesting. You know how sometimes a complete random individual can make (or break) your day? So I'm standing at the counter waiting to figure out what I wanted to order and a woman asked if she could give me a suggestion. She was a customer like me, and her name is Connie. She recommended her favorite by the number. I quickly turned to the menu and saw that she was recommending my favorite as well which is called Drunken Noodles. Although it's not called that on their menu. But the restaurant folks did verify that that is their Drunken Noodles. So delicious Thank you, Connie, for reaching out to a me, a stranger in town. And for a brief conversation with such genuine helpfulness. In this crazy world, me showing up in a place where there is not much visible diversity, to be greated so warmly made the whole experience awesome. Anyway, I ordered my Drunken Noodles and I ordered a Thai pork chop meal as well. Took them back to my hotel. One was for my lunch that day and the other was for my dinner. They were both absolutely over-the-top delicious. I must say though I have never had a pork chop be cooked so well and have such amazing juiciness and seasoning. Thinking about it as I write this review, I want to drive back just to get another pork chop. Dang I live a very long way from that restaurant. For meat eaters, who enjoy pork, you can be jealous because you have probably never had pork of any kind this tasty. Yup, check out the photo of that pork chop! We drove by Sequim and decided to stop for dinner on Saturday evening, then we found Sawadee. We ordered Goong Ka Tiem (fried prawns with garlic) and basil fried rice. Look at those humongous prawns, and there were at least 8-10 of them!! The fried rice is also on point. We also order a vegan dish but forgot to take photo. The chef/owner told me she's been serving this neighborhood since 1992. Even though I probably won't visit this place again (because I live in Los Angeles), I wanted to let you know how excellent and honest this restaurant is. They definitely deserve 5 stars! read more

Sawadee Thai was our dinner choice after a long day at Olympic National Park. The reviews and vegetarian options seemed decent. I read that they can make menu items vegan which is always a plus We had just an average experience here. We ordered panang curry, yellow curry fried rice, and basil noodles. The flavors were ok. I thought the panang curry was a little too sweet and the basil noodle was bland. The medium spice level tasted very mild. The wait was too long here. The food took about 45 minutes to come out which felt extra long after a long day of hiking outside. I wish we had at least been warned about the long wait. read more

If you are coming here for dinner, ORDER TAKEOUT. DO NOT DINE IN. We came here on a Saturday evening for dinner and noticed that the restaurant was very busy fulfilling to-go orders. We got a table and ordered, but waited a very very long time before we got our food (over 30 minutes, possibly close to an hour). The servers were super kind to us but unfortunately they seemed under-staffed (I saw one, maybe two chefs in the kitchen). The food itself is really tasty. Their curries are very sweet so I recommend choosing their other stir fries or noodles if you are not a fan of sweet curry. The spice levels (1-5) also seemed kind of arbitrary. I tried a level 5 red curry which tasted completely mild, then a level 5 basil noodle which packed more of a punch. However, the level 5 basil noodle was still milder than what you'd get in cities that have big Asian populations (i.e. Bay Area, LA, San Diego). The price of the dish will vary depending on which protein you choose (i.e. chicken curry is $14, tofu curry is $15, prawn curry is $16, seafood curry is $17). You can choose between soft or fried tofu and I highly recommend the fried tofu! The portions are generous and each dish is packed with whichever protein you choose. One dish is enough for a hungry person or potentially could be split between two people. They seem to be very popular for dinner takeout, and they will start running out of stuff (mango sticky rice, some appetizers) if you come later. We ordered takeout the next day since we were still in the area and they ran out of white rice! The brown rice they gave instead was like the purple rice served at Korean restaurants. This is a tasty option for food if you're ever around Sequim/Port Angeles. read more

We love the food at Sawadee! It's our favorite go to Thai restaurant on the Olympic peninsula! Jon loves to order the red curry with fried tofu. Lots of really great veggies: bamboo shoots, eggplant, etc. I've tried their Pad Thai, crab fried rice, chili fish and have loved all of it. The only reason why I give it four stars is the slow service. Expect to wait to have your order taken. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes for your food after you order. There's only one server and two chefs in this restaurant so expect to spend at least 1.5 hours there. I even tried to call in an order... between a busy signal and no one answering the phone, I stopped trying after 15 minutes. Fantastic food. Very slow service. read more

My husband ordered a meat dish but he has to pay extra for rice. All Thai food restaurants we've been that offer lunch specials include soup, rice, meat included. We are in town for the marathon and this was our pre-race dinner. I got the game hen, my runner friends got crab fried rice and panang curry. They were very short staffed on a Saturday night, so the waitress told us food would take 35 min. Ended up waiting actually almost an hour. The food was freshly made, but pretty standard. The specialty dishes are the best options. My suggestion is if you know exactly what you want - get it. Otherwise try one of their specialty dishes for the best experience. read more

Absolutely delicious. Our family just came up from Seattle for the night and we saw this was close to our hotel and thought we would try. They were so busy, had to go in because the phone was busy, but we love Thai and thought that was a good endorsement within itself of how busy it was! We got yellow curry and pad see ew. Both were so delicious. The curry was so thick which I love! And the potatoes were fully cooked (which is not always the case!) we will come again if we are in the town! I decided the other day I needed Thai food and having not tried any here in Sequim I choose Sawadee. I ordered pineapple fried rice and cashew chicken. I have to say I was really disappointed with both. The pineapple fried rice was not like any I have ever had. It was coated in some red sauce or seasoning that was not the typically curry flavor this dish is made with. There were no cashews or raisins and instead it was filled with frozen peas and carrots. It was not pleasant. When I opened the cashew chicken I got an overpowering smell of fish which tells me they were very heavy handed using fish sauce. I don't mind fish sauce but if I order chicken, I don't want to smell fish. I don't think I'll be going here again. The bill was right at 45.00 which would have been fine if I had food that I enjoyed. read more
