I like that Savers is clean and bright and has a wide variety of merchandise and is organized generally well. I go here often to buy baby clothes for my grandson and books for him or myself. The prices are fine for the kids clothing and toys but I feel there prices are on the higher side for adult clothing and my main complaint and reason for the 3 star rating is there is no dressing room to try anything on and their return policy is ridiculous. Please stay away from this location, they price things as though they are not a thrift store. They hoard anything that looks good to the employees. If you ask about it they will have you wait around and tell you to speak to 3 different managers to tell you to come back the next day without resolving the issue. I found a bracelet I wanted and was told by employee a manger has to look over it. Well turns out I was speaking to a manager and since they felt the bracket was real they could not sale it , till a different manager looked it over. Waste of time , especially since I willing to purchase is it and brought it to there attention. I always like visiting this Savers and usually end up with some item to purchase when I come here. The store is pretty clean and organized. It always seems to be staffed well and the staff I have had interactions with are very friendly. Prices here are very reasonable too. Before Halloween, they had a lot of costumes, wigs, accessories, etc., and I thought that was a unexpected surprise! Updating my review. Walked into savers today and immediately knew how my trip was going to end. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS! They're asking retail prices for candle holders! Little glass figurines are priced as if you were at an antique store. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting!! It looks like the trash inside the restroom and by the sink haven't been dumped in quite a few days. What a huge disappointment. Y'all get this stuff for FREE!!! I recently had to move and wanted to find a donation place that would accept clothes during the pandemic. SAVERS was easy to search on the internet and ARE accepting donations at this time. I've never used SAVERS for clothing donations but plan on doing so if I have more to donate! They practiced CDC guidelines as best I could see. The employees I interacted with were wearing masks and face shields and notified me that I had to place the items in the bin (which I had no problem with) for safety precautions. In addition to that, I really liked that I could drive up and drop off. Easy and well marked in regards to the donation area. If you need to make donations, this is a great place to do so. read more

I was in dressing room at 8:50 pm. I was trying on my last shirt of an entire cart full of stuff and a woman very rudely says you need to exit the dressing room we are closing in 10 min. I'm trying to hurry and put my shirt back on and she just keeps repeating herself that I need to leave the dressing room. So I come out and leave my entire cart full back there. As I'm leaving I let another associate know I will never return here due to her being rude. She's like oh you can go back there it's ok. Ya right I said, the lady just kicked me out. I will take my business elsewhere. I would of been up front at 9 pm and was on my last shirt so you lost business over someone wanting to hurry out of work tonight. I had about $300 worth of clothes in the cart and I spend that much almost every 2 weeks. If you want to close at 8:50 then please post that. Rushing me out was not ok. i've been going to this store since I was a little girl and have never had problems. I had one item in my hand so I didn't have to have a cart. I had to use the restroom. I had an employee follow me and calling me rude and selfish while banging on the door accusing me of trying clothes on. A manager walked in and waited for me outside my stall door. She told me that I was not allowed to be in the bathroom trying on clothes. I told her that I had to use the restroom and there was no reason for me to set my clothes outside the bathroom with no cart. They used to have Changing rooms but got rid of them. I feel like my privacy has been invaded and I will never be going to this Savers ever again. I would never feel comfortable having people watch me in the bathroom. This place used to be a Price Chopper ages ago and it's never looked better. The store is brightly lit and uses allot of the space. While most of it is clothes as to be expected they have a great selection of manny things. The story is always well lit and quite clean. The staff have always been quite friendly at checkout. They offer a saver club card to save 25% on Tuesdays (as well as a senior discount for 25% on Tuesdays) If you shop here frequently it's well worth getting the free card. There's no hassle in getting it either, you can sign up online or with a form located at the store. The figures, cllectters tins and plates are just inside the front door so it's easy to check out first thing. The book section is also always well stocked. It's fun to go through if you have some time to kill. You just never know what you may find. The selection of Figures is, while not a big selection what they do have is pretty varied and almost always in great shape at a very reasonable price. They also have quite a good selection of collectors plates to. Now what I come here for is the stuffed animals \ plushies and toys. Everything is neatly separated and loose \ small figures are bagged and collected hung on the wall making it easy to quickly look though them and find things you want. the plushies are in there own small section, either hanging on the chains or in the basket below. It;s very easy to sort through and never overcrowded. The bigger toys are easy to get to on the back wall shelf next to the plushies and smaller figures. Very easy to browse at a glance whats there with out having to do any digging. read more

I've been to three thrift stores today, and yes there was a slight odor but nothing like this. I started coughing as soon as I walked in. I don't know what it is about Savers...I had the same allergic reaction to the one on 95th. Are they just dirtier than your typical thrift store? Whatever the reason, I tried to quickly walk through. Grabbed a couple pair of jeans quickly and then left. Savers is part of this trend with some thrift stores who will identify a brand as expensive and price accordingly. I think they are forgetting that the items are USED and often not in the greatest condition. For $10 more you could buy a new pair of Levi's, for example, so why bother with used. Went in today and couldn't believe what they're charging for USED, DONATED ITEMS.. $50 for a sundress, $30 for purses and $40 a piece for multiple used pots and pans.. a lot of the prices are more than what some of these items are new. My friends and I won't be donating here or shopping here anymore as long as this is the kind of business they're practicing. This isn't the way this store started! Not sure where to begin. The only reason why this place is getting one star is because they have amazing deals! We found a dresser for $14.99!!! It was in great condition with exception of a scratch on the top. This was no biggie, because we are going to refurbish it. So we go to check out, and the cashier had her arms folded and head down on the counter. We walked up closer, she looked up at us annoyingly and then rolled her eyes. I said im sorry, are you open? She said with an annoyed tone, yeah..."im hungry and tired and my feet hurt. I see that look you are giving me and you can just go ahead and take that look back." Well then! My look was that of utter shock! We paid and left. My husband went back the next day with our SUV to pick it up. He pulled up to the loading zone and gave the man the receipt. Not once did the man say one word. He went, grabbed the dresser and started to drag it on its side across the pavement. My husbad asked him to pleas pick it up and came over to help. The man snarled and again said nothing. Needless to say, we will not be back to this location...EVER! This store is just as good as I wrote 1 1/2 years ago....well, maybe even better! Books were on sale, lots of knick knacks, including some collectibles that were worth MUCH more than priced, and I had seen in antique stores for 15 times the price. I found some great purses, great shoes, and even a top for a great price. Despite coming in to get some white elephant gifts, I managed to leave with a few things for myself, and at a great price. The store is brightly lit, which is great, and many of the SUPER CHEAP TVs were plugged in and working. You can test out any of the electronic items to make sure they work, and there are enough empty plug ins to do it. Parking did get a bit more difficult, with the new construction taking out some of the parking lot; even on a mid-Friday afternoon, parking was full, even though the store wasn't. I love savers. Their clothing options are endless, and they are very decent. There are some really interest items, too. Sizes range from newborn to adult size 24. I visit savers regularly, even if i wont be buying anything! Service is decent. I have had a few grouchy and unpleasant encounters with their employees, but it's understandable. read more

Used to love this savers location but prices are getting ridiculous. Some things are over msrp and used! The store Wasnt packed but felt cramped i kept getting stuck in aisles and behind people. Cashiers are slow. I just waited in line for about 10 mins before i finally gave up and walked out and that was with 3 cashiers open. You never know what you may come across in Savers. I go for the books. It's a definite good deal, and I usually find something interesting that I want to read. I'm not much for looking at the clothes, but I do meander down the other isles to see if there's anything interesting. Outside of the books, it's hit or miss price wise on some items. Something may be a great deal, and something else you're like, uh no. I've never had any problems with customer service. The place is clean and relatively well organized. Some areas seem in a bit of a disarray. I like to donate here, as well as the Goodwill in Shawnee. Savers gets a small edge because they'll give you a discount coupon for your donation, which typically goes for the books I'll purchase making them a steal. read more

Rude help. I asked the male employee in the furniture area to take a floor heater to the dock area because it would not fit in a cart. I had precariously set it on top of a cart and was uncomfortable with that. He literally laughed in my face. (he apparently thought I should load it myself.) When I asked him if he thought that was funny, he said "yeah, but I'll write you up a receipt and do it anyway". I took the heater to the front of the store myself and complained to the manager who honestly didn't seem too concerned. Never received an apology for his rudeness. They are overpriced compared to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I only shop there on Tuesdays to receive the senior discount when the prices are marginally acceptable. I won't shop there again. Please donate your stuff to The Salvation Army or Goodwill where it will be appreciated. read more

Please understand that I fully LOVE the concept of the Saver's line of stores - my general store is the Olathe one ( I love everyone there, so friendly , so nice and excellent staff all the way around)... I have on occasion frequented the Shawnee Mission store from time to time and after today I feel compelled to leave my take on their store as this was not the FIRST time I have been treated so rudely. I shop at Saver's monthly dropping some big bucks as I shop for our 4 adult children (their households) PLUS my two adorable grandsons = me leaving there usually with a ticket total of at least 200.00 a pop + at least 3-4 shopping forays a month parlaying into dropping 600.00+ a month at Saver's easily. I also donate the kids outgrown items so when they see me coming they are usually smiling! I love SAVER'S!!!...WELL not this one after today. I went there and ended up with two full big shopping carts (the big metal grocery style ones) chock full as usual. I had ONE freaking item that didn't have a tag. It was a little stuffed reindeer made of felt that was on a wooden pick (something you would see stuck in a floral arrangement) it was small not even 3 inches tall... I joked when I got up to the cashier that in true fashion for me I found one item that didn't have a price tag (this usually always happens when I shop at ANY Saver's)... well you would of thought I was trying to steal the darn thing. The woman snatched it out of my hand (not an exaggeration either) and then promptly snatched up her little placard at the register jabbing her finger emphatically at the verbiage of said sign stating that they cannot sell an item that has no price tag. IT HAD TO GO TO THE BACK AND I COULD NOT BUY IT PERIOD. She did not say this nicely either. I must of looked dumbfounded by her overthetop venomous retort (not exaggerating this either hubster was with me and he was dumbfounded) ... I said 'ma'am...it is a tiny little decor pic - can you please ask a mgr. if they could price it for me I have never been in ANY Saver's that wouldn't do that for me)... you would of thought I asked for her first born child ... she grabbed the damned sign again and proceeded to jab it even harder and speak louder like I was deaf (trust me I am not)... I got angry... very angry... but kept my cool...and I asked her if I could speak to a mgr. this was slightly ridiculous. I could see if I had a high dollar item without a tag but I had a teeny tiny piece that was most likely less than 2.00 tops full price. She went over to another middle aged lady (she was middle aged herself) and they proceeded to whisper back and forth gesturing towards my hubby and myself ( I'm 54 years old btw)... but I DID hear her exasperated comment 'she is DEMANDING to speak to a mgr.) ma'am I ASKED to speak to one, trust me if I was going to be attributed to DEMANDING at least let me have the pleasure of being as rude as you were, which I was not. She then marched back over to the checkout and threw the little reindeer pic into one of my bags, never saying a blooming thing, what the price was , etc. I asked her if I remembered right that the books were buy 4 get 1 free as I had 10 total (all kids books) and I proceeded to count them out right in front of her. She snatched THOSE and proceeded to recount them flipping them over and double checking pricing even though I had done it right in front of her. I got the feeling like she thought I was somehow ripping them off or stealing. Hubby felt the same way. She went through the rest of our lengthy transaction with an incredibly passive aggressive tone. When I asked if we could ring out a large item so I could put it in the basket first and then stack the bags on top she looked me dead in the eye and started putting the bags in the darn cart exactly opposite of how I asked to have it done...of course every bag was thrust to my husband with a hateful snarky 'here SIR, IS YOUR BAG'... that was said with each bag and I was not misreading her snarkiness. My husband who is the epitome of cool and calm (career teacher here) was getting really ticked over her hatefulness .... everything we asked of her - using our clothing/cloth purchases to wrap our breakables to how we wanted to load our cart...she made sure she did exactly opposite of how we asked .... every word out of her mouth was dripping with contempt... UGH UGH and even MORE ugh..... I don't know if she fell out of bed on the wrong side, was having a bad day....OR WHAT... but dammit don't take it out on ME ! Yes, technically her little sign said if it didn't have a label blah blah blah...but I have NEVER as in NEVER been treated so rudely in my entire life.... all over an item that was less than 2.00 and btw... the amt. she rang it up was substantially MORE than that even though she never told me the price or ran it by me.... will I ever shop at this location again? Most likely because I love SAVER'S..BUT DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.... SUPER RUDE :( read more

The shift manager is rude and completely unprofessional. She curtly responded with a eye roll "We're not suppose to but I guess" when she was asked if I could check to see if a large sealed container Lincoln Logs actually had Lincoln Logs or if it was filled with something else. Why? Because I didn't want to pay 12.99 for a container full of junk like McDonald toys or wooden blocks and be aware once you buy it, you're stuck with it. Yes, they say you can return it, but at the bottom of your receipt they will point out the exchange policy. So, her attitude cost her store a sale of around $100.00 (yes, all the toys and thing I was going to buy were going to a homeless shelter so the kids had toys to pay with and books to read) and a customer. I WILL NEVER LET MY OR ANYONE IN MY FAMILY'S SHADOW DARKEN SAVERS DORRSTEP AGAIN. Horrible place. I've donated a lot of money worth of stuff here, simply because it's conveniently located by my house. The first time I drove up to donate the man who was suppose to help me unload my items (that I am giving them for FREE!) was on his phone, never acknowledging my existence. The second time i went to donate, a large man came stomping out of the door, looking like he was going to hit me (not an exaggeration), he then pushed a bin at me to unload my things (again offering no help and no thank you), and I should mention I'm pregnant. But today was the final straw. An old man was working at the donation lane. I started unloading over a thousand dollars worth of stuff when I saw there was a sign posted only in Spanish. I asked him what it said out of curiosity. He then began to YELL at me that I need to read the rules for myself. I have no idea what he was taking about. I told him I'd be donating somewhere else and hurried and got in my car. This place is scary. Not sure where they are hiring people from but I don't see this place being open much longer. I've probably given this place 3,000 dollars worth of stuff, never once being given a tax receipt or told thank you or heaven forbid being given assistance. Do they not understand they are getting paid from people donating things? I will now take the time to donate to a place that deserves it.
