The store is big, relatively organized and clean. I like the section where decorations and crafts are bundled in bags. They pretty much have everything you need for a house. I think the prices are a little high for resale. If you make a donation, you get a 20% off coupon, so that helps. When I drop off donations in the back, there is always someone there to help unload my car. I will go back once in a while. read more

Honestly very rude staff, I've had multiple experiences where I've been ignored, pushed aside, or just left helpless because there was no staff to help. One prime example was about 4 weeks ago when I got denied my purchase because "the pricing was incorrect" after spending my time and afternoon in the store just to get told I can't leave with what I found after they messed up? Savers has a wide assortment of random stuff from golf clubs, to computer monitors and printers, to rows of clothes. Personally I've been a Goodwill type of person, but you could have fooled me if you said this was Goodwill. Overall, a fun experience, looking for that hidden gem. read more

This Savers location is great for many reasons but mostly because I have found the staff is really helpful and so polite, especially if you are donating items at the back drop off area. Savers makes it so easy to make a donation and they are so appreciative of items dropped off. They have some unique items, especially in the kitchenware aisles and furniture section, which seems to be constantly changing. We don't shop here a lot, but mostly donate stuff for the store. Consider this place when looking for items for a dorm room. You may find some good deals in great shape. read more

I love this thrift store but go on a discount day! They are overpriced as is any thrift store nowadays. Covid ruined it. This place is clean and organized though. I've gotten lululemon, brand new Columbia, Northface and other name brand items here so the selection is good! The store itself is pretty large. It's in a shopping plaza so plenty of parking. On Monday the entire store is 50% I would go that day! Tuesday I believe is senior Day, Wednesday the cashier mentioned 25% off for military. I love Savers! If you are there at the right time, you never know what kind of treasure you may walk out with. The thing I don't like about any of these donation stores is the inconsiderate parents that let their kids just tear into items, be it toys or anything else in a box that looks interesting. I shouldn't just say the kids. I've seen plenty of adults do the same thing. They will rip open boxes and pull parts out and either stuff items back into the box or just set it on a shelf next to the box. Very rude. I have seen plenty of potentially expensive items ruined because of people doing this. Anyway, I go to a lot of these types of stores just about everywhere we travel and Savers is by far the most organized and cleanest store we patronize. I highly recommend stopping in. I agree with another reviewer that thrift stores are no longer stores for thrifting. Granted Savers is a For Profit organization, the least they can do if we are to deal with high prices equal to retail, from FREE donated items, is put fitting rooms in the stores. I will no longer visit any anti-thrift store which does not have them. At least this company has an exchange policy, but what the heck, the time and cost of gas going back to look for another pair of pants hoping to find something that fits is a waste. So, Savers may want to change their name to Wastevevers. Yes, there are non clothing items but those cost close to equal to retail. I absolutely love this place! They have brand name clothing for pennies on the dollar! Also, some cute jewelry (costume) and sunglComair. Their shoe department is to die for, but be ready to pay close to Ross prices, unless you have a discount or go on a Monday, when everything is 50% off! They have some nice womens heat tools once in a while as well, Hot Tools and drugstore brands like Conair. Once in a while I find small electronics, such as a Garmin and USB powered "photo frames." I haven't looked much through their DVD or book aisles but there are tons! Additionally, they have seasonal decorations and clothing, nice Halloween costumes during September-October. Finally, you do not get the feel of being at a large corporate owned retail store, it smells good inside, things are very clean and organized, and the workers are, for the most part, very friendly and helpful. I was very sad when they closed during Covid as I have been going there for at least 4 years. Now, their changing rooms have been closed, after re-opening, which I am confused about as Goodwill gas theirs open..if anyone wants to answer I would appreciate it. This lady is so rude she took the coat i scanned from my hand and continued to look at the price as if the price was not correct then says" The price is correct!!!!" Cue the beat because I have been Thrift Shop'in! Suddenly, Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg has turned into a thrift shopping paradise. Plato's Closet and Clothes Mentor have new competition in the form of Goodwill (see my separate post on my experiences there) and Savers. Savers did not disappoint. I first went here to donate clothes. Note-you have to drive around to the back of the building to donate. There I was quickly met by a well-bundled gentlemen who thanks us for our donation. In Northern Illinois, the proceeds head to the Epilepsy Foundation. Armed with my five dollar gift certificate for donating, I drove around to the front, parked, and headed in. The store was clean, well-lit and very well organized. There were even Italian-made, Ferragamo shoes for $10! I ended up finding a PS3 Rock Band Guitar for $5. I was thrilled since these normally cost far more new. The reason for the four stars is that when I got home, the Guitar didn't work even after new 'batteries' (True Lies reference). I am going to head back later today or tomorrow and see if I can return it. If so, the place gets a five; if not, it remains four stars. read more

I went here with my daughter on her suggestion. Savers is a thrift store. Honestly, I'm not sure who they support, but I do think it is along the lines of the Salvation Army Stores. They have a huge selection glasswares, clothing, etc. I did see a few things that looked possible, but nothing jumped up at me and said I had to have it. Some of the clothing they had out didn't look clean. Too bad. If you want to donate, I'm not sure where the drop off is. There were a few bags that someone dumped in the front doorway, but I can't fathom that this would be how they want it done. read more

Nothing in a thrift store where things are being donated should cost over $10.00. I'm seeing target, H&M, Old Navy and TJ Max discount items for $12-$15.00. Was heading to check out when a worker told me I couldn't purchase a bag because it was not supposed to be on the floor yet. Yet, it was on the floor with a price tag already placed on it. They explained that someone had gone to the back and grabbed it and put it on the floor. This store is definitely a treck for me nearly 50 minutes from me living on the north shore. There aren't a lot of thrifting options near me due to the affluence of the area but I wanted to try something new. The designer stuff is way too overpriced they want almost 40 bucks for a scuffed up Michael kors bag with mints inside the bag and pen marks when I can go to the TJ max right now and get a brand new Michael kors bag for 40 bucks that looks 10 times better. Extremely overpriced stuff most of the time. There's some good finds, sure, but they are very hard to come by these days. They are definitely pricing things based on the brand name and not the condition it's in. I saw several coach and Michael kors items there were 40-50 dollars with a lot of scuffing, markings, and even some with items left inside the bags from being donated. If I'm paying 40-50 dollars for a bag I'd expect it to be in perfect if not almost perfect condition for that price. read more

I have no idea who is in charge of pricing the items here, particularly the clothing, but I'm pretty sure that person is not aware the clothes they're pricing is USED... And generally not in great shape. Which is fine, considering this is a thrift store, but the prices definitely don't reflect that... I paid less for some brand new tops next door at TJ Maxx than I would've for used tops here! Wrinkly, worn out 20-year-old Ralph Lauren polo shirts are priced at $8-$12, and even higher, faded XXL shirts from vacation spots of yore are upwards of $6 (seriously?), etc. That sort of pricing for used clothes is intended for places like Plato's Closet or Clothes Mentor, where the clothing is screened and selected before it is put on their racks, meaning the styles are current and the quality of the clothing is used but in good condition: no tears, holes, pilling, stains, etc. Those stores do not accept clothes in poor condition. That is not the case here. All clothes are donated. A used but in good condition top from Express being sold at Clothes Mentor will set you back around the same amount as a faded and dated top here. It just doesn't make sense. This is a thrift store, not a consignment shop. I don't get this place. This place only gets an additional star from me because it is pretty clean and organized. read more

I am a thrift shop ninja and this is one of my favorites. While some of the items seem a bit overpriced, if you wait for their sale days (color coded) and get their email alerts, this could be a dream come true for you. I have seen a lot of junk from time to time but for the most part, they have decent quality items that are fairly priced. The inventory is constantly changing and this store, even though its a "for profit" store, does community give backs when groups do donations to the store. Better than Salvation Army in that most of the stuff is current and usually clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

I try not to support this franchise anymore (for reasons that will soon be made evident), but I've decided to share my last encounter with their delightful duplicity for the benefit of other patrons. Anyway, on my last visit I saw a nice furniture item I that wanted to buy; however, for some reason it had two price stickers attached to it. They were both official 'Savers' stickers, and the manager on duty ADMITTED that both were placed there by their staff (something about the location, I guess?). But said manager outright refused to honor the lower price. Fine, I wouldn't really mind if this was a one-off mistake... but it wasn't. Every single chair in the 'set' had the same batch of TWO labels in the same spot. Rather than admit their fault (I received nothing by way of an 'oops, sorry we goofed' or anything verbally recognizing their mistake), they dug their heels in and lost both a sale and a customer. Speaking of unethical greed, I also saw a used, adult coloring book in their crafts section priced at $3.50- which was impressive, considering that I had already bought that exact same book brand-new at our local Dollar Tree not a month prior! Normally, I wouldn't begrudge a bit of over-enthusiastic pricing from a genuine charity; but after digging a little deeper, I found that there's a reason why so many of this chain's stores have closed recently. Evidently there's a massive l@wsuit against them- apparently they donate next to nothing from their profits, and their CEO has a mansion on the same block as Bill Gates... yeesh. Now I can see why they're so stingy, though- heaven knows their CEO won't catch up to Billy's net worth by being honest and generous! This also explains the store's constant state of looking like a hurricane just struck- heaven forbid they waste money hiring more staff! Savers has really gone down hill. No longer the customer friendly place it used to be. It is obvious that Savers Hoffman Estates is a FOR profit thrift store. Their prices have been steadily rising since January 2017 to the point of ridiculous. Their half price and Senior days to flush out week old inventory create havoc and disarray in what used to be a clean and organized environment. Subsequently they are getting less donations from what I see. The bag wall is filled with totally unrelated items making them ridiculous to purchase. "Like" items or sets that used to be bagged are now stretched across multiple bags making it impossible to purchase a full set for a thrift store price. Yesterday I drove to a Goodwill for the first time in a year. The store had been reorganized, smelled amazing and the prices were half what Savers is charging. Even the books are cheaper. Instead of coming over right away she made the entire line for close to ten minutes while she talked to one of her employees.
