Some very good deals here in an age where groceries can cost you a pretty penny these days. Really looking forward to trying the Truffle Hummus! Seems like they made some changes in the layout of this place. There was some kind of a deli counter this time. It had a huge selection of olives to choose from in the display as well as a few other things like pickled turnip, pickled hot pepper and sundried tomatoes. I also saw some eggplant dip, yogurt dips and cold salads like Potato salad and Macaroni salad. To the left of this deli counter I saw another display case that had desserts in it. It seemed to be different varieties of baklava as well as various flavors of Tres leches. In one of their fridges I saw quite a few containers of clotted cream. I was quite excited to see this as a friend of mine had been looking all over for clotted cream recently, but was unable to find it. This location of Persia Foods would be too far for her, but I messaged her right away to tell her about it, and then suggested that she could try the Burnaby location of Persia Foods on Kingsway sometime to see if they might also carry this clotted cream! Rereading the review I wrote last time and am now reminded of the jar of eggplant I bought here previously. It was a really really good eggplant. The "roasted" flavor was very strong and so I think I should try to look for this jar of eggplant again sometime! I like the new additions that I've seen at this location. Might try the deli counter and one of their Tres Leches sometime. Also, really hoping that the Burnaby location carries that same tub of clotted cream. If they do...I think I might be baking some scones sometime in the near future!

I can't remember the last time I bought an Avocado less than $1.99 ea. at any mainstream grocery store in Vancouver. This place had them for .64 cents ea. and they were wonderful. Their meats. Love it. Wide selection of all sorts. Personal favourite? The Mix Ground Lamb/Beef. It's awesome. Add it to your Carbone Marinara Sauce for your Penne night, and you're rockin'. If you're new to the Mediterranean culture I'm sure you'll find a handful of items in the isles that you'll find interesting. The Persian culture is hot blooded, warm, generous, fun, kind and passionate. I'd love to see some of that coming from the cashiers while checking out. Or at least a smile and a hello. Freshco is owned by Safeway. Freshco is branded as a lower tier grocery stores (similar to No Frills which is owned by Loblaw). July 11, 2019 was their grand opening day. We went on the second day after grand opening and the place was super packed. We have noticed they had a lot of Indian specialty items. The isles are very wide. Prices were definitely cheaper. There is a giant parking lot out front. Another great thing about Freshco is that they are beside the bus loop. Super convenient. We are happy this place opened up. The store before Freshco was Safeway (they closed down a year ago). The lot was left empty for awhile before Freshco popped up.

I saw quite a number of bright, yellow reduced stickers on a lot of items. Not sure if that's what stands out for other people but for me on this occasion, that's what was standing out. I picked up a container of Silk brand non dairy Greek Style yogurt. This stuff is usually quite pricy. This one had a yellow reduced sticker on it. "Reduced $4.19" is what I saw on the sticker. My first thought was that it had been reduced by $4.19. Well, I got to the checkout counter and of course discovered that was too good to be true. It was not $4.19 cheaper. It had been reduced to the price of $4.19. Lesson to be learned...those yellow stickers reflect the new price of an item and not the amount it has been reduced by. $4.19 however, was still a good deal for this particular yogurt (imho). So I stuck with it, brought it home, dished it into a container and put some Peach Oolong Oreo cookies in it cuz...really loving that 2 ingredient Japanese cheesecake trend! Aside from lots of bright yellow reduced stickers, I also noticed a small fridge with canned beverages in them that were all $1 each. Whoa, really? Just $1? This particular location gives me a diff vibe from the last few i've been to, the store is well lit, spacious, has free underground parking and free steering parking during specific times. I love how this location has a wide variety of groceries and goodies. I saw a bunch of asian items, hotpot meat, dumplings, sauces, snacks, noodles and so much more. One of the things that caught my attention the most is the variety of zero sugar options for the carbonated drinks. And even though i don't like cherry, i like how there's unique flavours as well such as cherry float cola! If you like asian buns, there is a selection of asian pasties such as taro bun/custard bun! I can appreciate the variety of salad kits!! I can see myself visiting this location regularly and the hours is good too. For my first time here, I purchased sultana raisins and halved walnuts to elevate my steel cut oats I make for breakfast. There are many specialty items such as Asian spices, lentils, dried fruits, amaranth, sorghum and dried goods. You'll also find Hispanic (Latin America), African, Middle Eastern, European, and South Asian foods as well. If you are in the market for any of the above hard to find ethnic items stop by this place! Tip: Do not pay for parking on the street in front. There is free parking in the back. (My favorite kind of parking!) ;)
