Your standards grocery store. Things looks well stocked, isles were clean and cashiers were friendly.

Bakery, flowers, deli, lottery, pharmacy and a Starbucks inside flesh things out. Ample parking, although on one side of the parking lot it's more than a bit awkward. Pedestrians take note, it's not easy to follow the cross walks of you're on the "wrong" søde to get to the store. It's larger than it looks from the outside. A section for healthier choices, mostly not-so-healthy choices, some organic options. It takes me a bit to find things usually... It's never where I expect. Which means I need help, to ask someone. Well, in 20 years since I lived in Cranbrook, and now even I come to visit, I've never seen a staff member on the floor. Behind the counter, stocking, at the till, yes. But never just to help people... You'll have to grab someone if you have a question, and even then, they may not know. They're probably on their way to /from a break. Next to the health food store, this is usually the most expensive place in town to get groceries. Still, the produce is solid and rarely do I have to wait for a till (or, à self serve till). All in all it's okay. Nothing to write home about. Solid. Nothing where I'd say, "I have to go to Safeway!" unless something was on sale.

The printing on the bottle was very tiny due to the many warnings and I could not even read it, so I am of course, concerned. The prescription is used for insomnia and the accompanying documentation is 3 pages. I have barely slept for two weeks and after working on a computer all day it feels like my eyes are bleeding. The insomnia is caused by another which I took for the first time about two weeks ago. She snapped at me that we are told to take it (the first prescription) the morning as to not interrupt with sleep. In fact, I got up early all 5 days to take the medication and have breakfast as recommended (I had a lovely, helpful person dispense my meds and told me everything I needed to know - as they should). The pharmacist had at her fingertips the meds I am currently taking, and should not take with this new med. She would not even take a minute to tell me that the med they have on their files and dispense to me regularly to take every single night should not be taken tonight with this new med. That SHOULD BE malpractice. The pharmacist patient shamed me for no reason. She has a terrible attitude and would not answer any questions - read the insert! Why is she even needed there if she refuses to assist patients? I believe that the terrible attitude and lack of customer service runs straight downhill from the manager Mark. Some time ago I got out of synch on my meds and went in to the pharmacy for assistance. Mark said, "Since you don't pay for these anyway!" ... why not just restart all the meds. Since I don't pay for them anyway? So Mark thinks that since I don't pay out of pocket for my pharmaceuticals that it doesn't cost me anything and I'm not paying for them. Who does he think is paying when my GreenShield card pays for my meds? My Greenshield card is provided by my Employer. My benefits are part of my compensation package and My Union has negotiated these benefits that we fought for. Mark has very obviously never participated in his Professional Development courses as he is completely ignorant of Equity issues and had no qualms about making such an outrageous and demeaning statement. I doubt very much that he would have made such a remark to a man standing at the counter. If I am treated with such disrespect, I hate to think how someone presenting a BC Social Services card to pay for their meds would be insulted and underserviced. Save-On is very close to home, but I will never have a sent there again.

And in such a tiny town like Marysville no less - what are the chances of that! In my opinion, Michelle's greatest asset for the patients she serves is she doesn't just fill the prescription. She takes a few extra moments to talk with you about what it was prescribed for, etc, and then offer additional information and advice that you probably never heard from the doctor who wrote the prescription. You are not going to do better than you will do being served by Michelle and her pharmacy.
