I like their selection of beer and wine. I do not shop here for groceries, because I am a Safeway Fresh kind of shopper, but their deals on alcohol is better than most. I am not a fan of the self-checkout option as this seems to be the most popular choice for this business. read more

Save Mart charges more for groceries than I am confortable with but 5 stars for the customer service. I found the employees were very helpful. Two women kept asking people if they needed help wherever they went. I think some customers were irritated but I appreciate the effort. Then when I was looking at the breads, the woman from behind the deli/bakery counter came around to show me all the different kinds of breads they have. I felt like I had a personal shopper for breads! read more

This is our favorite grocery store in Davis and we have been shopping here for years. I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful; it isn't unusual to be greeted mid-aisle with an offer of help. Prices are very competitive and you can count on excellent specials. For the smart shopper who is organized enough to take advantage, there is a lot of money to be saved. The store is clean, bright and well maintained. read more

We bought the $69.95 Thanksgiving Roast Beef dinner. The instructions for cooking the meat said anywhere from 40 minutes to 90 minutes. There was no weight label on the package. Ended up way over cooked. The three sides that came with it were all pre packaged. pre frozen. and very low grade. If we had picked stuff from their deli it would have been better. What a waste. We will never go back for this type of thing from Save Mart. Terrible. read more

Here in Davis you have a lot of choices where to buy groceries (safeway, nugget, co-op, and save mart). My choiceto buy vegetables and fruits (and sometimes beer) is save-mart, they have good prices but sometimes it is cheaper to buy elsewhere. note: they have a good selection of beer read more

Very disappointed. I went here today with my grandma and son. When we were at the check stand there was 1 items that the lady noticed was not good and another item that was reduced fat that I didn't noticed, both times I had to go back and exchange the items myself as the bagged was standing there the whole time at the end of the check out standing waiting... I have shopped here on a regular basis only because it is so affordable compared to many other grocery stores in Davis. The more I shop here, the more frustrated I get though. There is usually only one checkout lane open with an actual checker. The majority of the checkouts are self checkouts. I don't mind doing self checkout when it works. The problem is the machines at this store are super sensitive and are always acting up. To make matters worse, half the time there is not a store clerk anywhere nearby to help clear the errors on the machine. The low prices are not worth the headache, so I may start shopping elsewhere. read more

I like this Save Mart. Although it has a small seafood section, they sell high quality king crab legs here. Other than that, the bicycle parts are also very reasonably priced here. Check it out. Minus one star for the not so great produce department. read more

Wonderful staff, great prices, and extensive selection of groceries.

Aaaah Save Mart, we have a love/hate relationship. When it comes to booze, its pretty much my first choice as they have consistently lower prices on the stuff I love. Their food selection doesn't suck, they have excellent deals all the time but you have to catch the promotion. The produce is pretty good and the pricing is decent. My biggest complaint is some of the customer service, some of the team there is awesome, they treat you like family. The rest of them treat you like they hate you for being there, or like you just don't exist at all. Also the prices on some of the products is just robbery. All in all I shop at Save Mart for the convenience of not having to go to Safeway, but as a vegetarian, there are a lot of options Save Mart just doesn't offer, so I'm forced to head up the street to Trader Joe's or Safeway. Still, I love the option of a self-checkout, and fortunately when I shop there I encounter the nicer employees. Save Mart is the place I go to grab last minute stuff and the location is very convenient so for that I'm grateful. read more

strictly based on their deli: the staff was more than helpful when i asked to try a million different samples and they didnt even care that one day i went in there and didnt get anything from the deli (except a rotisserie chicken) and then was back in there the next day asking for samples of cheese! (although that time i did actually buy cheese). the samples are good portion size and really delicious! i will definitely be hitting this place up for some more samples and probably for some more slices of cheese because its cheaper and better than buying it in the prepackaged containers. yay i am a fan! read more

Save Mart is a great and convenient grocery store. The staff can be really nice and helpful. Their produce isn't always the best quality but they're cheaper than Safeway and definitely better in that there isn't a long line with only 1 cashier working. I also really like that they give you quarter change for laundry without any problems. read more

This is a regular size grocery store where people swing by for groceries due to the relatively cheap price in town. I used to have no problems to shop the groceries and stuffs at this store. However, when there are only a few representatives available for checkout although customers are lined up, the situation immediately tells me why this place is cheaper than any other grocery stores in town. Sometimes the items (especially green vegetables) are mislabeled, so be aware that the item you buy matches with the price tag right below or diagonally below. Otherwise, you cannot recognize this until you reach the checkout booth. I had this experience and asked cashier on that day (Janice W.) to verify this. She acted and talked to me not in a polite way (actually in a very rude way) as a cashier. I only wanted to know what the correct price for that specific item was. I could have gone to speak with the store manager, but I didn't want to. I wish that the store manager would hire a more professionally trained cashier for a pleasant shopping. Definitely, consumers have rights to know the correctly marked price for every item. I could have checked the name also (the problem here is that items have very similar names among others in the same section), but the store appears not to organize vegetable neatly along with the price tag. Another major problem that this store could have seriously taken is the odor control nearby the meat section. Whenever I pass by that corner (at the backside of the store), the strong smell of rotten meat usually irritates me. I still do not know if that comes from the meat they carry or from that physical location in the store. I post here a candid note based on my true experience so that every customer needs to know what to expect from this store. I still hope that this store stays in a good business by improving all those problems. read more
