I picked some of these people up before doing rideshare. I visited store number #61313 and I was treated horrible. I was followed through out the store by staff and security. I was laughed at and talked down on. I was treated as if I were a bum, beggar or robber. My mom and I went into Save a Lot to get a few things, and as we're walking thru the aisles I see a big sign above the cases of pop that was there. The sign said four cases for $5 assorted flavors. I picked my four flavors and my mom and I walked to the checkout line, only to be charged $5 per case instead of the four for $5. At this moment my mom and I informed the cashier as well as the manager on duty at the time, and the manager/assistant manager named Larry is talking to us very dismissively and had a slight attitude as well. My mom and I were told that the signage was a mistake and they wouldn't honor the sign because the pice was from a while ago and it was meant for the 2 liters which is now 2 for $3. My mom and I went into Save a Lot again yesterday they still didn't change the sign for the can pop and they also had sign prices for other things in front of other food products and I have pictures. All in all, if I could give this store and the managers a negative rating then my rate would be -20/10. Not only was the customer service bad the prices are not saving anything and the placement of prices are meant to deceive people into paying more if they're not careful. I went there once out of curiosity and hoping to save a lot of money. Yes, the prices are cheap but a lot of the food is of very suspicious quality. Lots of items from China in frozen meat, also, mainly frozen stuff, nothing fresh. Save a lot at the price of your health? I would never go back, not encouraging this type of business that only has profit in mind not the actual quality of products and care for it's customer's well being. read more

On July 14th 2023 at 13:44 military time An black girl with braids in a bunch an tongue ring and an black outfit she refused to bag my groceries when I asked her nicely to do. There wasn't barely anyone else in the store. She also wasn't wearing her name tag and she was on the phone constantly during her shift even while she was helping other customers. She also didn't have an uniform either . She said that it was my job to do that with an smart, funky, and dismissive attitude!!. Also when I came in earlier the whole store smelled of smelly feet like things were rotting inside there!! Also their was no one up front period either!! Many people could have stolen items because of their negligence. I dont recommend this store at all or any other save alots it seems like they all share really horrendous customer service practices. This isn't the first time that their have been rude employees that look like came off the streets. This particular location is the Waukegan IL store. I only got 5 items so the fact that she refused to bag that only shows how horrible their customer service is! read more

I'm giving this sav a lot 5 stars because I always have a good experience there, the cashiers are nice and have helped me many times and the security people have always been friendly too. Just for that alone, I like this place. That being said, the produce section is small but has all the essentials and some extras. Their meat section is smaller than big grocery stores, but it's clean, the prices are usually better than Jewel down the street with a decent selection. There is no in house butcher or deli, and if you get there late jn the day, the selection may be picked clean. I usually get my chicken breast family size from here. The chuck steakd I've gotten were good, the ground beef is great and the chickthighs were good for my soups. The rest of the store has decent stuff, canned goods, soups, dry produce, sugar, frozen fish and meats. I can't say I'm ever disappointed when I shop here because it saves me about 20 bucks versus just going to Jewel. This is my go-to when I grocery shop before I go over to Jewel. Sav-a-lot has the basics that I need and like, and Jewel has the bigger selection and fancier items that cost. If you plan your shopping like I do, Sav a Lot is perfect! Fyi:The lines can get long and I've only ever seen two registers open at a time. With that I usually wait 10 minutes at most when it's busy, so lines move fast. read more

I didn't want to leave any stars but this the only way to comment, today is January1,2022 the time is 6:30 this happened it's a blizzard all the stores are closed. I go in to get water and also I need to use the toilet, I asked the short dark skin security guard at the register if I could use the toilet I had to go really really bad I'm a customer I want to shop. He said to me the bathrooms are out of order now I'm not a homeless person I look relatively well I'm wearing a nice coat you can tell that I'm not homeless I understand that sometimes the homeless are not welcome in the bathrooms and I do understand why well I wanted to shop but I will never be back this man said to me the toilet rooms is closed that's why the hinges is off the door well I would never have made it to look at the hinges because I have to use it really bad, I'm very offended because I have a health issue and I was unable to relieve myself in your store. My thing is this there are several workers in the store two security guards my thing is where do they relieve themselves at. I am so upset about this I will never ever stop at the store or refer anyone to the store ever in life. read more

Save-A-Lot is like the dollar store of grocery stores...lol I mean everything is not a dollar but they have many things that are a dollar and when you think of today's economy that is a good deal. This location is clean and the staff is nice!!! Now, sometimes you have a wait in line which can drive me batty but its worth it!! The frozen veggies which are just over a dollar is fresh the only one I don't like is the broccoli its more stem then floret. The other bonus is they are open for 24 hours so if you are a person that likes to shop at night and have the store to yourself...then Save-a-lot is the place to go! read more

It was the middle of the night and I was starving, and the grocery stores were all closed, except for Save a Lot. Like a lot of discount grocery stores, it was made up mostly of generic, over processed products that I would never choose to ingest. However, the tomatoes . . . .I've only found better tomatoes in farmer's markets and third world countries. Perfectly red, evenly ripened, and still firm. Never mealy. And they're cheaper than all the other grocery stores. $1.69 a pound! Often less! Since I eat tomatoes everyday, this is my regular tomato store. I stop there at least once a week. From experience, the tomatoes are both better and cheaper than at Dominicks, Trader Joes, Jewel, and Whole Foods. There you go. read more

I think my husband and I go to this store like 3 times a week. I will admit, a lot of the products do not agree with our diet (i.e. heavily processed food, non-organic, etc.). I'm big on reading ingredients and if I find something that has the exact same ingredients as a more expensive brand and it's sold at Sav-O-Lot for $1-5 cheaper, I'm buying it! Therefore, it's convenience in location and cost savings make it the place to shop for some of our grocery needs. My hubby and I are both night owls (which is sad because we have to leave the house at 7 am to go to work) and this store is open 24 hours for people like us! I was a little salty that they were closed on Thanksgiving Day because most 24 hour stores stay open on holidays. But, I'll give them a pass on that because they'll be open the next day when I need to pick up that bottle of ketchup I'll likely run out of at 1 am. read more

There is a grocery store in South Shore, Save-A-Lot. It's clean, has a good selection of products, and you aren't paying inflated prices for "name brand" goods. If you need specialty items this isn't the place, but for all your everyday needs it's great. It's always open, and the people who work there are very nice. It also helps me with my Urban Sustainability because it doesn't have all those cheap plastic bags, I bring my reusable ones. A special shout out and thank you for having a place to dispose of them right at the exit door, and not in a hard to find place at the back of the store. read more

The store lives up to its name--you do save a lot by shopping here. The store brands are comparable to what you would find at any other grocery store chain. The only downside is that it's not a super large store and may not carry everything you need. read more
