Our guide, Chris, was knowledgeable of the local salt marsh, wildlife, and history of bluffton. We enjoyed our paddle down to the old town public dock and looped back down the may river. We saw dolphins, various coastal bird species, and other various marine and salt marsh life. We taken plenty of tours and felt Chris went the extra mile- providing waters, thick towels for cooling our necks, and was even was so kind as to let us use her binoculars! PS - She's a great photographer! 2) We also did a boat cruise and tubing tour with Captain Hunter as we had several friends join us day 2. He was also a great captain and guide - knowledgable, funny, and very understanding of the various comfort levels with participating in tubing on the may river. They have vacation rentals ranging from condo's to houses with 1-8 bedrooms. It's a nice variety of places to choose on the island to stay. Fripp Island is a private secluded area. You do have to go though a security check point to enter. If you fish, play golf, tennis, or just want relaxation, this is the place to come. It's definitely a lot different from Myrtle Beach. There are 3,000 acres of natural beauty. The island is designated as a Wildlife Sanctuary. There are tons of wildlife on the island. There are 175 different species of birds, deer and alligators also. The deer are running free on the island. Some of them will even come up to you but they recommend not feeding them. You will need an amenity card to enjoy your vacation. The card gives you privileges for dining, golf, golf cart rental, swimming pools, tennis courts, bicycles, mopeds, kayaks and canoes. If you book your trip directly through Fripp Island, they will include the card. My favorite restaurant there is Bonita Boathouse at the marina. It's got some amazing seafood. There's also a great ice cream shop on the island. I recommend you bring your own groceries. The nearest grocery store is about 20 minutes away in Beaufort. Several movies have been filmed on Fripp Island: Scenes from Prince of Tides, The Jungle Book, and Forrest Gump. Beautiful scenery. In the summer they also offer a special kids camp. Bring your lounge chairs and come on and try this place out! It's great for a little Rest and Relaxation.

The tour begins with safety instructions. Then, Ryan takes you to many very interesting places in the area and is quite knowledgeable about the sea life and the land around. He gave us exciting History and facts. Ryan pointed out dolphins and told us cool facts. He knew the birds we saw too. We even saw a shark. Ryan gave us an hour on Vanishing Island. That was a great place to be. Just knowing that high tide would put the island completely underwater was a little weird. Ryan is an expert captain. He has years of experience. I recommend that when in Hilton Head, you take a ride on his boat.

I went on a four hour self-guided tour through Daufuskie Discoveries and really had no idea what to…read moreexpect since there were no reviews anywhere. But since we were spending the weekend in Savannah, we thought it would be a neat adventure (plus there was a groupon!). We drove to a marina just a few miles out of Savannah and met "Captain Jim" who took us on a 20 minute or so boat ride to the island (the only way you can get there). On the ride there we spotted a few dolphins swimming close by, the closest I've ever seen a wild one swimming and I'm from Miami... Once we got there an "Island Boy" (that's what Captain Jim called him) met us on a golf cart, had us fill out a waiver, gave us a map, and the keys to a golf cart. For the next four hours we drove around on our sport golf cart on paved roads and some dirt roads to points of interest as indicated by the map. Apparently only 150 people or so live on the island now so it was rare to run into other people and if you did they always waved from their golf cart as you passed by. We only saw two people drive cars the whole time there. There were a bunch of historical houses, churches, cemeteries, and a "ruin" to look at. The history of the island is kind of sad going from running a bunch of plantations or so, union control, a bustling oyster shucking business, 80's tourism boom, to not a whole lot going on...It kind of felt like we were exploring an abandoned island. The beach was really pretty as well - I would have liked to spend more time there, but the weather wasn't the best that day. When our time was up we drove back to the marina, met Captain Jim, and he drove us back to the mainland. Overall a very interesting and successful trip!

Everyone at Daufuskie Discoveries is very friendly and extremely helpful. While DD is great with small groups, they really earned their stripes this weekend in organizing and delivering more than 80 people to Daufuskie for my sister's wedding. Despite all of the delayed flights and schedule changes, Brit managed to deliver everyone safely to and from Daufuskie. They also managed to get us a fleet of golf carts to accommodate everyone. I look forward to my next trip.
