By 7:40 he netted more bait then we could use. Off into the Atlantic we went for the adventure. Once anchored, within 10 minutes, we had our first bites - but we couldn't get them reeled in. Then it got exciting. Over the next hour and a half we caught FIVE SHARKS - a HAMMERHEAD, BONNETHEAD, BLACK TIP and 2 BLACK NOSE. We were able to bring 4 of them into the boat for a picture before we threw them back. Our 21-year-old daughter got the trophy for the day as she reeled in a 5 foot long BLACK TIP SHARK that was well over the boat limited - WAY to big to handle (well over 100 lbs) so Captain Ben cut the hook out while leaning next to the boat and let him go. Captain Chip was super helpful as it was my first time fishing on the ocean. He taught me how to properly reel in a fish/shark. Gave me tons of tips and was very personable! Went shark fishing with Chip and we ended up catching 2 stingrays 1 35 pound black tip shark and a monster 12ft 600+ pound hammerhead shark!!! Best part was the adventure of exploring the island and having the beach to a small crowd- felt like our own private beach! I coordinated a trip to Daufuskie Island with a group of friends who had never visited before…read more While we enjoyed parts of the experience, there were several issues that impacted our overall day. First, the ferry staff were wonderful. The captain and mate were both friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, and they truly made the boat ride enjoyable. However, the website information regarding ferry times was very confusing. Based on the schedule posted online, we believed we would have from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on the island, as it advertised: 9AM to 4PM 11AM to 6PM 1PM to 8PM *Seasonally 7 Hour Round Trip Unfortunately, we later learned we actually needed to be back at the dock by 7:15 p.m. This significantly reduced the amount of time we expected to have on the island. Several other guests on our boat also seemed confused about connections and return times, so clearer communication on the website would be very helpful. The most disappointing part of the trip was the golf cart rental. Our cart only traveled around 12 mph, making it difficult to fully explore the island within the limited time available. We were constantly being passed by other carts all day long, and the slow speed prevented us from seeing as much as we had planned. I would strongly encourage the golf cart company to better inspect, maintain, and update their carts so visitors can fully enjoy the island experience. Daufuskie itself is beautiful, and the ferry crew provided excellent customer service, but clearer scheduling information and better-maintained golf carts would greatly improve the overall experience.

From the moment we set off, Bryan's energy, knowledge, and sense of fun made the trip something truly special. We went shark tooth hunting (and found A LOT!), got an awesome history lesson along the way, and explored beautiful Daufuskie Island. Finding him and the boat was easy and he was ready to go. We took advantage of the cooler on board and thanks for the blanket because it did get cold once the sun set. We learned a lot about the Savannah waterways and history but at the same time we also got to just sit and take in the incredible sunset and dolphins. You can tell he just loves doing this! I was on HHI for Thanksgiving and wanted to wet a line. From the jump, I could tell Trent and Penny (who runs the back office) were on top of their game. Communication was great, quick responses and very friendly. Originally I wanted to include my 93 y/o mom on the trip because she had a bucket list item to fish one more time. Penny and Trent were very accommodating while we planned the morning for my mom. In the end, the weather kept my mom off the water, so I fished by myself. Trent was ready to go when I arrived and as a former tournament redfish angler, I could see he had great equipment and the perfect boat. Just being on the water is therapy for me and despite the rain and a little wind, Trent had me on fish in no time. Trent is a HHI native and he's been guiding the area for 25 years and it shows. He's knowledgeable, friendly, and really wants his clients to have a great time. He'll fish both artificial and bait depending on what the conditions are, and we caught fish using just about everything we threw. It's hard to beat the beauty of the low country at sunrise even when it's raining. Sea turtles, dolphin, ducks, pelicans, all kinds of wildlife around, and Trent knew just where to go to catch some fish. Since a photo is worth 1,000 words, I'll let my photos do the talking.
