We had the most wonderful and exciting morning looking for shark teeth! Our guide, Kara, was kind and helpful and we found tons of teeth.

We took a lovely charter boat ride at sunset. We had such a great time speaking with our captain and hearing his stories. He was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out history and things that we were particularly interested in. We saw tons of dolphins along the way which made my night. The ride was relaxing with stunning views. The staff checking us in and juggling our reservation, Peyton was great. They called and offered to adjust our time to maximize our sunset experience. After our ride, we got to ask questions and learn about the burger boat and how cool that operation is. We look forward to coming back with our kids for the fossil tour. read more

We had a great time on our shark tooth tour! Our guide was awesome! He took us to 3 different spots to look for shark teeth! Answered all our questions, helped us find teeth, and also kept our daughter safe when he saw a gator in the water heading her way! (First one he'd seen in 10 years). All in all we found 30 shark teeth, most tiny but a couple big ones too! We had a wonderful time and would recommend this spot to everyone a million times over. read more

Bull River Marina - A sampling of what we found. - Boat Charters Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

We vacationing in Savannah at Airbnb on Williamington River and found Bull River Marina while looking for bait. The staff was very helpful and explained everything about their tours. Our guide was Captain Nick, he has an extreme knowledge of Savannah, the Port tour is awesome and highly recommend, this is in our top 3 things that we did. Give them a call, promise you won't be disappointed. We have an elderly member that is in a wheelchair and they took care of her like she was their precious cargo. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you Bull River Marina and big thanks to "Captain Nick". read more

Dolphins up close, a gorgeous river sunset, and a guide (Nick) who grew up in Savannah and knew everything about the wildlife and the area. Our group ranged from age five to grandparents and everyone loved it! the highlight of out kids' visit to Savannah. read more

The captain was very nice and answered our questions on the boat ride over. The first mate was very helpful too

Definitely ask for Captain Nick! We did the dolphin cruise for our Bach trip and it's truly what you make it. If you want to be chill you can but it's also a time to party if you want! We went with a more chill vibe and Captain Nick was very accommodating yet still fun! I do wish the tip was included upfront for convenience sake and maybe highly encouraged, not required. But he did accept virtual payments. Make sure you bring a hat and sunscreen! You can get out and swim if you want but we didn't know so highly recommend swimsuits! read more

I had the best time looking for sharks teeth and fossils! Found over 160! Will definitely be back!

My sweetie and I took the Sharktooth Island Tour out of the Bull River Marina!!!! It was the perfect ending to our Savannah trip! The 20 min or so boat ride to the island was so enjoyable and we got to see some good wildlife and low country scenery. Once at the island we had all the equipment we needed from our guide (shovels, strainers, etc) EXCEPT I do recommend you bring a small baggie or something to put your treasures in! Be prepared to get wet and possibly covered in good old Georgia clay...but in the best way...I found the whole experience of slogging around hunting for shark teeth and other fossils so enjoyable! Hot tip: we saw people having huge success with little teeth just straight ahead of where the boat drops You off. However, we headed for the large dry sand "cliffs" and chipped our way along the shell ribbons we saw there...that's where I found my largest finds! Water shoes were nice for a bit but I don't recommend them if you start wandering out where there is clay they will get sucked in there and right off your foot lol. Also...you get fantastic views of the shipping container ships coming and going as you hunt on the island! They are huge it's such a treat to be that close. That said, if you are knee deep in the water when they come by...there is a storing current that pulls water out away from the shore...and after they pass that water comes back...fast. I was not prepared for that when I took the lower tide opportunity to run out and dig around, so when the water came rushing back i had to bend over and brace myself on all fours. Not dangerous....just hilarious...but maybe a little less hilarious for someone not super comfortable with water or being knocked about in the water so fair warning. I found a good half dozen teeth and a cute shell. I also spent a good amount of times catching the little crabs and playing with them! We took bottles of water with us and that was nice to have as you are there for a good bit. The boat ride home was just icing on the cake! We got to see dolphins (one came right up to inspect us) and some other great birds. The captain made sure to go out of the way to steer around to drive us closer when great wildlife opportunities presented themselves! I highly recommend this as a singles, couples, or family experience! read more

Having recently watched a TikTok about hunting for sharks teeth, the lovely Spensyr K. and I opted to try it for ourselves. Bull River Marina is a short trip outside Savannah, so it was turned into part of our exit plan. We jumped on a small boat with a friendly first mate and a knowledgeable captain who gave us a brief history of the Savannah River expansion project, and how we'd be digging through the recently dredged river bottom. The trip out was quick and uneventful so in no time we were mucking about and having a grand old time. We found a couple fossils and quite a few sharks teeth before it was time to go back escorted by a pod of dolphins rolling all around the boat. Cool little day trip, you should do it. read more

My husband, daughter, her boyfriend, and I had an amazing 6 hour experience from start to finish with Captain Creigh! Saw dolphins, and got to watch them play on the wake of the boat. A stop at Daufuski for drinks and food, then drove back at sunset. Creigh was so fun to hang out with, had so much great information, and even turned the boat around so we could get great sunset pics. Highly recommend! read more

We were pretty disappointed overall because the description was extremely misleading. It states on the package "Join our expert guides as we explore the coastal waters, searching for fossilized shark teeth and other remarkable marine artifacts." We assumed this meant we would get information from the "expert guides" and that they would be on the island to help out. They gave us no information about the area, the island, or sharks. They boated us over and dropped off us and returned three hours later to pick us up. It says 20% gratuity is REQUIRED but I'm not sure what for. We already pay a hefty price just to get boated over, I am not sure what the tip would be for. I would have been more inclined to give more if more was actually done. As for the island, we only found about 8 shark teeth. It may have been an off day, but overall this was not what we expected. read more

We had a charter with Bull River Marina during a girls trip to Savannah- and I highly recommend! It was a quick uber ride from the Historic District, where we were staying, and easy to find once we got there! Their little building comes equipped with drinks, snacks, and other boat/beach items to purchase. Willie and his team were more than friendly and helped us take everything to our boat and get us set up. Between the fun music, the great atmosphere, the fun drinking games we had a blast! We were able to dock our boat and get out and swim. Sadly, the weather turned rainy and cold and we had to end our charter early, but we were having such a great time that before that happened, they agreed to extend our reservation for an extra 30 minutes! If I ever am back in Savannah, I will absolutely rebook them! read more

My wife and I had a fishing trip with Captain Willy yesterday, and it was amazing. We're essentially novices and hadn't caught a single fish in several initial outings, but Willy took us to some good spots, where we finally pulled in four or five sheepshead. His coaching on technique was invaluable. They're not easy fish to catch and this is a low period for every type of fish, so we were very happy (and excited). He also helped us harvest a couple of bushels of oysters on the way back, so the evening was a feast for us and a couple of friends. It was a great experience all around. Highly recommended. read more

bull river marina offers a sunset cruise to tybee island via local waterways. unfortunately, they don't screen their licensed boat captains for courtesy to other boaters thus endangering the lives of not only their passengers ; but , also the lives of other boaters! this is especially true when they pass boats on anchor needlessly throwing a dangerous wake from their vessel into an anchorage they pass daily. their behavior is beyond reckless! read more

SHARK TOOTH EXCURSION - AVOID THIS TOURIST TRAP I WOULD RATE IT ZERO IF I COULD. We had three Grandsons (ages 14, 12, and10) in town for a week and thought they might enjoy this. Big mistake on our part. They take you to a section of Jones Island on the Savannah River that they call "Shark Tooth Island". This is the island you can see from Tybee Road where they are dumping the river dredgings. This is not the island the locals refer to as Shark Tooth Island. They drop you off in an area of thick, sticky black clay mud that you have to walk over without loosing your shoes or falling down. Then though a thick mound of tall scrub grass. You then enter a narrow shelf of hard packed sand that is about 150 ft by 100 ft with a hard sand wall on the back side. The area has been picked clean of shark teeth. We dug into the sand wall for several hours and found 2 very small teeth. We also found two small teeth around the hard sand after about three hours. There is no beach. To get to the river you have to walk over the slick black clay mud which extends out in the river. There was a small area to the east that people found a few teeth but it was impossible for us to get there with the children because of the river mud. After they kept slipping and falling down in the mud we gave that up. The 12 and 10 year-old lost interest after about 30 minutes and sat the rest of the time under some small scrub bushes along the hillside, which was the only shade. The trip is supposed to last about 3 hours, we ended up standing in the sun for over 4 hours because the boat was an hour late in picking us up. The guide with us was a very nice young lady but was of no help with advice on finding teeth or doing anything to help us keep the children involved. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN UNDER 14 ON THIS TOUR. The final insult was after spending almost $400 for this terrible experience, the boat captain and staff expected a 20% tip. read more

We had a great time on our day trip to Daufuskie Island. Our "Captain" Bryson did a great job! Only thing we didn't like was website stating there would be a MANDATORY tip of $20 per person. This put a bad taste in everyone's mouth. We did tip, of course, because Bryson was great but don't like being told that a tip is MANDATORY! read more
