Spensyr K.

My sweetie and I took the Sharktooth Island Tour out of the Bull River Marina!!!! It was the perfect ending to our Savannah trip! The 20 min or so boat ride to the island was so enjoyable and we got to see some good wildlife and low country scenery. Once at the island we had all the equipment we needed from our guide (shovels, strainers, etc) EXCEPT I do recommend you bring a small baggie or something to put your treasures in! Be prepared to get wet and possibly covered in good old Georgia clay...but in the best way...I found the whole experience of slogging around hunting for shark teeth and other fossils so enjoyable! Hot tip: we saw people having huge success with little teeth just straight ahead of where the boat drops You off. However, we headed for the large dry sand "cliffs" and chipped our way along the shell ribbons we saw there...that's where I found my largest finds! Water shoes were nice for a bit but I don't recommend them if you start wandering out where there is clay they will get sucked in there and right off your foot lol. Also...you get fantastic views of the shipping container ships coming and going as you hunt on the island! They are huge it's such a treat to be that close. That said, if you are knee deep in the water when they come by...there is a storing current that pulls water out away from the shore...and after they pass that water comes back...fast. I was not prepared for that when I took the lower tide opportunity to run out and dig around, so when the water came rushing back i had to bend over and brace myself on all fours. Not dangerous....just hilarious...but maybe a little less hilarious for someone not super comfortable with water or being knocked about in the water so fair warning. I found a good half dozen teeth and a cute shell. I also spent a good amount of times catching the little crabs and playing with them! We took bottles of water with us and that was nice to have as you are there for a good bit. The boat ride home was just icing on the cake! We got to see dolphins (one came right up to inspect us) and some other great birds. The captain made sure to go out of the way to steer around to drive us closer when great wildlife opportunities presented themselves! I highly recommend this as a singles, couples, or family experience!

Having recently watched a TikTok about hunting for sharks teeth, the lovely Spensyr K. and I opted to try it for ourselves. Bull River Marina is a short trip outside Savannah, so it was turned into part of our exit plan. We jumped on a small boat with a friendly first mate and a knowledgeable captain who gave us a brief history of the Savannah River expansion project, and how we'd be digging through the recently dredged river bottom. The trip out was quick and uneventful so in no time we were mucking about and having a grand old time. We found a couple fossils and quite a few sharks teeth before it was time to go back escorted by a pod of dolphins rolling all around the boat. Cool little day trip, you should do it.

Great experience for family - best thing we did in Savannah. Saw dolphins, beautiful sunset. Fun informative captain.

Had a great time with Willie for a four hour charter. you can tell the staff working here cares about what they do. We were a bachelorette party of 10 woman and they had two large coolers with ice and speakers ready to go. Willie was a great captain and very helpful and willing to help in any way. 10/10 would recommend this company! thanks for an amazing day out on the water.

It was yawn burger with a side of snores as my kids say. And that in consideration of the price deserves an honest review here. It was about $300 for two hours of a slow boat ride around the marshals where the only thing pointed out to us was an old beautiful hotel that the mob used to that used to smuggle liquor up and down the coast (which we initiated the conversation on, asking about it). The rest of the tour our kids wrestled and joked with each other on the front of the boat and we just enjoy the view of the beautiful houses. We've done many boat tours in different locations and normally there's some sort of discussion about the history or sightseeing the local birds/animals or the ecosystem of the area... None of this occurred. And that would be fine too, except we were told "there's a 90% chance you'll see dolphins" when we made the phone call to schedule, and one of our children was pretty excited about that. We had a good time because we're positive happy group of people but they need to turn the dial way up on this experience for families.

We paid $150/hour, and booked a two hour pontoon tour for Friday at 1pm. It was fantastic ! We had 2 captains on our pontoon boat tour, one of whom was Captain Mike, (I'm so sorry, I'm blanking on the other name!) They were both super pleasant and knowledgeable - also good humored as we blasted music over their speakers and danced around on the boat. When we weren't jamming out to TLC or Brittney they spoke to us about natural marshes, the landscape, dolphins, and geography of the area. They even let our Bride to be drive the boat for a little bit! We were allowed to bring anything with us on the boat, they encouraged it! We packed lunches and brought booze/waters as well - a definite must-do because it made the experience so much more enjoyable! The pontoon was covered, which I must admit being slightly disappointed to see - was hoping for lots of sun exposure, but it was still so much fun! Would definitely recommend bringing along a sweatshirt or jacket, it gets really windy on the water! There is a bathroom on the boat, but I thankfully didn't need to use it - there are clean bathrooms back at the marina.

We made our reservations about a month…read moreout, and then when it came to be the day of our scheduled sail, thunderstorms and rain was moving through the area. But Captain Steve was on it and made sure to phone us in the morning as we devised a potential plan/time in the afternoon to touch base before we called it. We tracked the weather through the day, and once the afternoon rolled around, he said as long as it was good at departure time, we could go out and described the plans he had depending on what weather we might have. Thankfully, the day turned itself around and it was gorgeous by sailing time. We were able to bring our own drinks and snacks, so we got those onboard and we were off. I mentioned that I'd really love to see dolphins, if he knew where they might be. Either Captain Steve or his son Zach, who came along to help, made sure to point out any dolphins that were seen. We even got close to a couple which was a really neat experience. We had the option to sit back inside the boat or up top, and could move around as we pleased. We had such a fun and relaxing time during our sail. Captain Steve is super experienced and was very comfortable answering all the questions we had. His boat is well maintained and has a bathroom on board (bonus when you're on a 4 hour sail with drinks!) Highly recommend anyone looking for a unique experience to contact Captain Steve.

My GF is wonderful at planning, so I knew nothing of this trip. The night before she said, 'babe, we are going kayaking in a swamp.' Well, ok, I guess? It was amazing. Let me start by saying that Kathryn and Fran are amazing hosts. Kind, funny, knowledgable, friendly and easy-going. Kathryn even made a mini-brownie cake for my birthday and served us while on the water during a snack break. We had some great conversations and a lot of laughs. As for the tour, it was fascinating and peaceful. We spent nearly three hours on the water, observing plenty of flora and fauna of the area. Additionally, since the water level was high, we were able to go through the forest, Kathryn's version of off-roading, and really got a lovely view of the water. Kathryn and Fran are experts at kayaking, so we always felt safe and they taught us a number of good techniques. I cannot recommend Savannah Coastal Ecotours enough. We had an absolute blast and next time we are in town we are going to do it again. Thank you so much for everything!

Kathryn and I corresponded via email all the details and answered all of my questions (and boy was I annoying with the questions)! We agreed on a date and location, as well as pick up at our accomodation. The week of our trip, Savannah was forecasted to have thunderstorms all week. Kathryn reached out to us and asked if we are flexible to changing the date as we originally booked Sunday, but the forecast for Saturday was more favorable. We decided to not chance it and confirmed for Saturday. Come Saturday it was a beautiful morning. Kathryn picked us up at 7:30am on the dot. She also planned ahead and had nearly everything we needed for the day, including hats and water shoes. She even had snacks and water packed for us. She literally thought of every detail!!! We were so impressed. She also was super friendly to speak with and very laid back and easy going. She even gave us a few great local restaurant recommendations in which we are very grateful for. We had a really amazing time leisurely kayaking in Ebenezer Creek (and even saw an alligator)! I highly recommend this tour and will definitely book another tour with Kathryn when I return to Savannah!!!

Savannah Riverboat Lunch Cruise: Great Experience, But Skip the Included Lunch…read more My husband and I took the Savannah Riverboat Cruise with the lunch option, and overall, it was a memorable outing we'd happily repeat--with one change. The service was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. The boat itself is beautiful, with lovely views of the Savannah River and historic sites. The captain's narration was a highlight. He provided fascinating facts, interesting historical tidbits, and maritime knowledge about the area the entire time--only pausing briefly for questions, which he answered thoroughly. My husband was particularly impressed by his expertise on the local maritime history. A fun moment came when we passed Old Fort Jackson--they fired a cannon at us! It was thrilling to hear the boom and imagine what it must have felt like in the past. Unfortunately, the included lunch was the one disappointment. The food was lackluster and completely lacking in flavor--it tasted bland and unseasoned, almost like institutional or nursing home fare. Everything was just overall "blah." We'd definitely do the riverboat tour again. Next time, though, we'd skip the lunch package and either grab something from the grill on the top deck or eat before or after the cruise. Highly recommend the experience for the boat, views, and narration--just plan your own meal!

I've already decided I'm not spending any more money after being greeted in that fashion. No drinks, no snacks, and no souvenirs. The narrator was knowledgeable, had a few jokes, and was tipped appropriately. The paddlers do not run. Two stars for a knowledgeable narrator and clean restrooms. Otherwise, this riverboat cruise is a big pass.
