I wanted to like this place, as I love getting my eyebrows threaded instead of waxed and there still are not a lot of places to go near Middletown. It is very hard to find, as others have noted. It's in the back of a parking lot, hidden away behind an Italian restaurant. It's just a little shack...I'm not sure what this building was ever built for, but it's definitely odd. When you walk in, it's sparse and it's dirty. When I arrived, I unfortunately took a minute to check in on Yelp prior to leaving my car. This allowed another woman to beat me inside. Little did I know she was having her entire body waxed. I was ignored the whole time the woman was in the threading chair, but when she decided to wax the rest of her body, she had to go in the back room and that's when I was told it would be 20 minutes. Ugh. But I was too short on time to go anywhere else, so I waited...taking in the disgustingness and wondering if there were any cleanliness standards for a place like this. Shouldn't some sort of health inspector come by at some point? It would definitely fail. That all being said, when it was finally my turn, the woman did do a good job with my eyebrows and the price was reasonable. She did the threading quickly and with skill (some places go too slowly and that's what can make it hurt). That's the only reason I can give 2 stars. But the place is so disgusting that I'm really not sure I could bring myself to go back in there, that part is negative 5 stars!! Shocking, shocking, and more shocking!!! I bought a deal of $45 facial for $22.5 from http://SaveNowCT.com. The whole experience is so absurd and shocking. And the more I think about it, the more I feel it's a scam. 1. absurdness: This deal is supposed to take place in Glastonbury. "Only 2 days" after I made the appointment, the Indian proprietary told me that place is closed due to lease issue. I have to go to either Manchester or Meriden, and I chose Meriden. 2. the place: It is UNBELIEVABLE!!! totally filthy, shabby, the counters n drawers all cluttered....totally speechless! THE PICTURES SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. The cloth for you to put on was....like something dug out from a homeless crib. Over 20 years facial experiences, I've never seen anything like this. 3. products n tools: Not only all cluttered everywhere, the jars n bottles are also dirty, all made from very cheap material as shown in pics. The tools just sit on the dirty counter without being sanitized. 4. skill: Although the Indian lady's attitude is nice, you can tell not a bit of facial skill and training at all. a) She put the blackhead remover tool literally ON HER FACE to show me the procedure. b) All she did was put a lot of oil and water on my face and rub it FAST N HEAVILY in disregard of eye area. No eye pads at all, so the oil n scrub got into my eyes n mouth. Scrub grains hurt my eyes so badly. c) She just wiped it out roughly with a small towel. My face was still full of scrub grains and she's going to put the hot steam over my face...... d) The last shock! After steaming, she put the cleansing mud on my face WITH HER FINGER!!! Not a brush! That's not it. The mud was so dry it pulled n hurt my face when she tried to smear it on. So I told her in other facial places they normally mixed it with liquid in a bowl. Then when I opened my eyes again, I could barely believe what I saw. She MIXED IT IN HER PALM, use the other hand to smear it on!!! The whole thing was like hiring a girl who knows nothing about facial, renting a place that can hardly be called "facial room", and ripping you off. They said they've been around over 7 years, how come she had no idea which jar was for herbal facial and had to call another girl to find out??! They even charged me extra $2.87 for tax which other spas didn't do. Once I stepped out the door, I realized "Hey, do you guys have esthetician licenses?" It didn't seem like a place where paid tax. Got my eyebrows threaded and they were extremely rushed. Took less than 5 minutes. It was 20 minutes prior to her closing. The eyebrows look like upside down U's and I was told to grow my eyebrows out more so they can be full. I have naturally thin eyebrows, so I can't just "grow them out." The damage was done, so I tipped her and left. I won't be back, but maybe you can have her shade in eyebrows so you can see her threading style prior to her threading away your thin eyebrows. I've never had a problem with eye-brow shaping before. Two stars because I can live with them now, but I'll have to wait and get them fixed. Also, there was eyebrow hair all over me afterwards. I even got some stuck in my eye. She does eyebrows in a hair salon chair, so you have to crouch down, rather than being reclined. read more

Do yourself and your eyebrows a favor and don't come here. I only came because my usual place was closed and I had to get my eyebrows done. The lady rushed the service and I wasn't even there late or near closing time I was there mid-day. She kept pushing my face with her finger which was very rude and annoying. I made several comments regarding that and she didn't seem to care. The place wasn't clean at all and she tried to reuse the same gloves that she's been using all day I presume until I mentioned something to her. I've been coming here for years and my eyebrows ALWAYS come out AMAZING when I leave. The process is quick and painless unlike other places I have tried going (like the mall). Stopped in yesterday a little after 6 and got my eyebrows done and a quick lip clean up in 15 mins for $13! Can't beat the prices and the quality of the work performed. The place isn't the cleanest or the most presentable but they do a damn good job! read more

I have mixed reviews based on who the tech is. I've had one tech who is great, listens & was helping me grow out my brows & improve the shape. Then I saw another tech & explained the plan to grow out. She rushed through "yes, yes", then proceeded to undo all I'd worked for with the original tech & also left me with painful cuts on my lower eyebrow from some aggressive threading. I've never experienced cuts before in about 10 years of threading at multiple locations. I don't know names unfortunately, but I will not be seeing the second person again. I will give them one more shot, but will stick to the first person I saw. read more

don't tell roju, but I found somewhere to go and get my eyebrows threaded in ct. It was an emergency and while I'm here temporarily- I had to find a local spot to get threaded. This place is awesome and it's all threading all day all the time. It's 7 bucks for the brows. Roju is the girl for me but this place is great in the mean time. read more

They're great - and, if you've never been there, you need to go inside the plaza and in the back, they're behind a restaurant. The place is no-frills but clean, the staff is nice and the service is not that expensive. They've made my brows look grrrrrreat! :) read more

Well! It's not always about the looks. " As we all believe never judge a book by it's cover" Being that said I really dont care about mirror, cabinets or furniture....To me service is important. I have been going for last 12 years to Pinal and all I can say she is very talentd, alwys accomodating to ur busy schedule and does and excellent job! The place itself is not impressive at all. In fact it is legitimately a shack hidden behind an Italian restaurant however they do an AMAZING job on my eyebrows... Very quick and they do not make your eyebrows too thin like other places do. I don't know if I would do much more than my eyebrows there though - definitely not a spa kind of place for facials, etc. read more

I've been getting my eyebrows threaded here for the past 3 years and will not go anywhere else, I'm not there to judge how the place looks I really don't care, it's not a spa! But they always have my brows on point and I have been getting complements on them since I've been going there. The catch is I only let Pinal(not sure if that the correct spelling of her name) do my brows the other girls did my eyebrows once and didn't get it right. But I definitely would recommend this place if you want your brows to look great and if you have a certain shape in mind tell them don't let them figure it out on you duh... but if you're looking for a spa feel this is not the place for you read more

Great place for threading. Only reason not giving 5 stars is because of the disposition of the place. It's not the most inviting, and definitely not a typical beauty salon; but the people are nice and listen to me about what I want my eyebrows to look like. Prices are great and they do a fantastic job. I am fairly new to the area and had only previously found the place in the Square which is expensive, so so so painful (they made me bleed every time) and they only do one kind of brow shape, skinny-which isn't me. When a friend told me about Saundarya, I was skeptical because of my experiences at the mall threading booth-I thought no-one in this area knows how to thread. But I was wrong, they do a great job here. I am a massive crier when it comes to all things hair removal but they don't make me cry too badly :P Their technique is good, thorough and quick. This place is kind of a hole in the wall, but I'm willing to overlook that because they do an amazing job on my brows. I've been to several different threading places and this is by far the best. They're super quick and affordable and are open late enough for me to stop by after work. Will definitely keep going back as long as they are in business. read more
