Xfinity Store by Comcast - A modem

I switched to Comcast from century link a year ago and have been very pleased with the service…read more However, at the end of the contract period expect a sizable increase in the cost of service for the next 12 months. My bill increased 50% at the end of the period. A year later update, after being without service for two days now my Linksys modem and TP Link router won't work. Comcast referred me to Linksys after an hour on the phone and Linksys says there is nothing they can do if I can't hard wire my computer to the modem. Time to change providers and equipment. Next day. I made one last call to cancel service and happened to get a technician in Denver who wanted to send a technician to my home. That person showed on time the next day to test my modem and router. He disconnected the coaxial wire from the modem to hook it to a modem he brought to see if there was a signal; and there was. Then he tested the router, hooking it to his modem. The router worked. He went to the truck to get a rental modem which I had 30 days to return without charge while I purchased a new one. Before doing that he happened to reconnect the coax to the old modem and went out to his truck. When he returned the old modem was now working for the first time since the internet outage, probably because of the coax disconnect and reconnect.

I don't know how this corporate company sleeps at night. Talk about elder abuse. Our grandmother…read morehas used them for decades. They always increase price, every 12 months she has to have a reminder to get a "promo price" otherwise it doubles. The product is terrible. Always losing connection, when it is connected it's terrible. Service is garbage. Mostly from india and i quess "speaks english" is not required cause most you barely understand. Any support, or billing dispute phone call. The first thing they do is "let me see what kind of upgrade deal i can get you". NO! Why would we upgrade with someone so terrible? Thank god fiber came to our neighborhood. We pay half as much, for twice as much speed. Not only that, we ACTUALLY get the 1gb we are paying for, not 1/4th of it, AND it has yet to ever go out! The cherry on top. When we left, xfinity overbilled her by over $200. She had a 4 hour long phone call with them, and they said "we MIGHT send the refund, if we do it will show up via email, and will arrive between 3-6 weeks. You have to watch for it because if you don't claim it within 3 days of when it arrives it'll disappear" They assured us it can be a refund back to our card, or an amazon gift card etc. Shockingly, after months the only one we saw was for $13.28, and only options was as an xfinity credit to the account. Xfinity can burn!

In my part of Utah County you get horrible speeds with the phone company or pretty fast download,…read morebut horrible upload with the cable company. Plus, they charge an arm and a leg for it. Utopia finally came to the neighborhood and I could not be happier. They installed quickly, and the service has been flawless so far. There is a large selection of ISPs available, but most of them are suspect in my mind. XMission is the only one with a total usage cap. However, even as a heavy user I've not hit it. By having the cap, it's easier to handle people who abuse the bandwidth setting up spam servers or torrent servers. They are also the only one meeting state of the art security standards like SOC2. Back to Utopia. It just works. I have 250Mbs up and down. That allows me to do full backups of my home to the Cloud. I could never do that with the pitiful upload speed the competition has. Plus it's far cheaper.

As an electrician I just can't for the life of me figure out why that would ever be a good idea. There was sewage leaking through every faucet, drain and toilet.. spraying up onto the air!! This wasn't just her sewer main but also their client's! So apparently their practices are most likely shady and against code. (Classic lazy Utahn business tactics.) My mom had to go stay in a hotel which she couldn't work in due to needing her Internet at home to work. She lost days of work, sleep and had the stress of her house being covered in sewage! I'd say literally go with anything else.

So not only will you have to pay for them to come out and "install" the fiber (what installation you're paying for I'm not sure), but now you also have to pay hundreds of dollars for an additional cost you weren't expecting because the tech can't be bothered to do his job. 10/10 don't recommend Quantum fiber

Nightmare Customer Service…read more Abysmal customer service and ongoing technical issues with CenturyLink, in Layton Utah. My mother has been having issues with her phone service for months. We have made several service calls and repair appointments have been made, but for each appointment a technician never arrived. When an appointment is made, we are given a range of time between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM to wait for a repairman. That is an entire day spent waiting for a technician that never contacts us or shows up for the appointment. We are told we cannot have a specific time for an appointment nor can we have the contact information for the repairman. It seems CenturyLink is more interested in protecting their technicians than it is in serving its customers. Making a complaint about these issues is nearly impossible due to CenturyLink's ridiculously slow, glitchy, and complicated automated phone menu system available through their "customer service" line. I have been on hold for nearly two hours today trying to get through to customer service in order to make sure a technician actually shows up today. I am on hold as I write this. It's bad enough that CenturyLink overcharges for slow internet and poor phone services, but making repair requests so difficult to initiate and so frustrating to follow up on when no one arrives is beyond disrespectful and illustrates the actual values of CenturyLink and its affiliated company Lumen Technologies.
