Classes are okay but if your child misses a class, they will only allow a credit and refuse to give you a refund.

I know for sure that if I had not joined 3 years ago, my full potential would not have been properly written out in my essays. The extra materials I asked for proved helpful for my SAT prep, AP test scores, and even my usual school assignments. My HS2 counselor was extremely supportive and a great guide. When I was at my lowest during quarantine, she didn't make me feel worse for my bad performance. She supported me throughout the experience, and I was able to recover my grades and mental health. All of my questions were answered, and many helpful suggestions were provided. She helped me explore my options, as well as what would be the best fit for me! Many opportunities were opened up to me--some were provided by HS2 directly (such as college courses over the summer, or community service programs) while others were suggested. I would have never thought of asking my neighbors who owned a beauty clinic to ask for a summer internship, or to start my own custom-painted bookmark non-profit. These were all valuable learning experiences for me, and provided the content I needed to paint my personality through my essays. Manager Helen graciously offered to help edit my financial aid appeal to my dream school, which I was accepted into. Without the appeal, I would not have had a chance to even think of attending it due to the financial barrier. Overall, I'm very thankful to have gotten this chance to have HS2's support throughout my high school career, and I look forward to attending my dream college :)

I had a mentor/teacher who tutored me, another teacher who graded my assignments and guied my online course, along with a Associate Director Julie Chae to help everything go smoothly. Small group sessions and great focused mentorship really makes this place stand out. - hannah y

I was one of those kids at Elite who were lazy and unmotivated. Parents forced me to come. I was…read moreoften the class clown and a punk towards the staffers/proctors at the front desk. The only benefits I saw, at the time, were 'shortcuts' to answering questions on the SAT and the one on one college counseling / essay writing with Julian Chou. Everything else felt like a waste of my time. I came to summer boot camps to make friends, some of whom I still keep in touch with. Looking back, all of that went a long way. Sure, some might argue it's not worth the money but it really depends on how the student takes advantage of all the resources. I certainly didn't take advantage of all of them but all the instructors are specialized in specific subjects and are quite knowledgeable. Some of these instructors already have full time jobs yet they take their time during or outside of Elite classes to help students. If you can study independently, props to you but most high school students can't. I couldn't. And in this way, Elite was very helpful, using both former and original test questions to evaluate how you'd score on a real test. I enjoyed all my teachers (few whom I still keep in touch with) and the staff, yes they were mean. They were too direct and condescending. However in retrospect, considering how annoying I must've been, imagine that multiplied with hundreds more. Elite wants their students to take practice tests as if it's the real setting. You can't talk, text, or cheat and you shouldn't fall asleep. I attended Elite about 10 years ago. I wasn't close to a 2400 nor did I get into an Ivy League. But considering what I've achieved since then, I can't thank them enough for prepping me for that very first step to 'adulthood': college.

The pace of lessons are tailored towards the student; if a faster pace is preferred he can do that, and he really excels in helping those who want to understand how and why everything works together. Very patient in explanations and works to make sure the student understands the concept. Not only that, but he stays up late helping students with math and answering questions past midnight. He cares about his students and I'll definitely miss his classes as I'm off to university. There are many math tutors, but Terry is the person you go to for an in-depth understanding of coursework. Highly recommended for calculus (my experience) and everything else.

He not only focuses on teaching his students but also cares deeply about building strong connections with them. He ensured that I not only understood the topic but also confident in anything I was given! He is also able to understand and adapt to the many different teaching styles by the teachers at my school. No matter the time or day, he was always there for me. I still remember the night before one of my Calculus exams. I was Terry's last student of the day, and our session was supposed to end at 11:30pm. He stayed on the Zoom call with me until midnight, patiently helping me with the questions I struggled to understand. I cannot recommend Terry highly enough. If you're looking for a math tutor who goes above and beyond to support their students, Terry is the perfect choice. Thank you, Terry, for everything you've done for me!

I can say with total confidence that Ms. Raven is the most responsible teacher I've encountered…read moreacross all the after-school programs we've tried. Her dedication is unmatched. Why This Program Stands Out: Personalized Progress Tracking: Ms. Raven tracks every student's progress weekly and personally calls parents to provide updates and listen to any feedback or suggestions. Shift in Attitude: My child went from hating math to actually being willing to attend. The "Reward System" they have in place is very effective at keeping kids motivated. Self-Paced Learning: Students can work at their own pace, which gives them a great sense of freedom and reduces pressure. Curriculum Balance: The material is a mix of what they are currently learning in school and new concepts they haven't seen yet. While it doesn't strictly follow the school's timeline, it keeps them challenged. No Homework: Perhaps the best part is that there is no extra homework to bring home. For a child who is already resistant to math, this is a huge plus. Ultimate Flexibility: They are open Monday through Saturday, and you can drop in at any time. There are no fixed class slots, which is incredibly convenient for a busy schedule. Bottom Line: If you are looking for a supportive environment where your child can overcome their fear of math without the burden of extra homework, I highly recommend this place!

My son was struggling with math due to his difficulty in focusing, understanding the concepts and overall the language of math. I have seen dramatic changes with his math skills, confidence and it also helps that he looks forward to coming here. During the summer of last year I was so surprised in his speed and understanding of math. He also became really great in doing mental math. I am unsure if Mathnasium had anything to do with it but regardless I am satisfied customer and a happy mother. My son also has had some bad days due to his personal behavior but Raven and the tutors are incredible. They are professional and do no lose their cool or their demeanor when my son tries to tests his limits. My daughter who is 7 years old could come here every day if she could. Many times shes the one asking if she could go even when her two brothers are not with her. She loves the incentives. They definitely keep her motivated. Raven is friendly, personable, professional and is great at updating us with the kids progress. Many times when she is not talking to parents I love to chat with her and pick her brain about anything related to math, learning styles, kids behaviors, etc. My only suggestion and hopes for the future plans with Mathnasium is if they could be open on Fridays and expand their hours.
