8" Sarussi Pork Sandwhich with World Famous Sarussi Sauce
    Nelson M.

So I hope this review finds all of you doing well! Well I found myself in the Little Havana area today and after running a few errands I had a craving for a Sarussi sandwich, which has been a staple Cuban sandwich shop here in Miami about as far back as I can remember. This place is really a part of Hispanic Miami history not too mention that these guys were featured on an episode of "Man vs Food" with Adam Richman. That said, me and Sarussi have some all good history from back in the day so I made a point of stopping by for lunch. Location I visited is on SW 8 St and SW 67 Ave, which has been here since 1964. Pretty much the same location I have been visiting since forever; however, they do have other locations now. Not too many issues with Parking today but be warned as on weekdays this place is jumping and parking can be challenging. Plenty of parking in the surrounding areas but the strip mall it is located in has limited parking. Thinking you will just park in the mall across the street.... Think again as your call will get towed, so don't risk it or it will cost you some money. So upon arriving staff were very friendly and greeted me and not too long after I was sitting at the counter. Just a heads up that you may need to practice your survival Spanish while you are here but hey it's Miami right! All part of the experience! Atmosphere here is very typical of most Hispanic cafeterias which as you can imagine hits home for me. No worries on the menu as it is in English. Tables are available but call me nostalgic as sitting at the counter takes me back to my days in high school! So on this occasion I decided to keep it traditional and go with their 8" Pork Sandwich with onions, cheese, potato stick fries and their world famous Sarussi sauce. What can I say but when I took that first bite, it was like visiting an old friend I had not seen in quite some time. I think the angles sang and I heard choir music! It was totally awesome not just because it tasted great which it did but Sarussi has always done a phenomenal job with their bread. It's the perfect combination of warm and soft yet still crunchy. It really ties everything together so well. Not saying that you can't have a bad experience here but for the most part they typically knock it out of the park with their sandwiches. That said, If you really want to round out the Hispanic sandwich experience you may want to order one of their Cuban fruit based shakes. Mamey "aka Sapote" is my favorite but you can never go wrong with a Papaya "aka Fruta Bomba" shake. Rounding out the overall experience today, I ordered a "Cortadito" which is pretty much an Italian macchiato which was very good as well. At its roots this is a multi-generation owned Hispanic business that has been serving the Miami community for as far back as I can remember. If you are visiting Miami or are just in the area and really want to try some Miami history, you definitely want to stop in and give Sarussi's a try. Truthfully, I don't think you will be disappointed! Enjoy and Bon appétit m'es amis!

I used to come here a long, long time ago... so today, as I drove by, I decided to turn around and pay Sarussi a visit. It is definitely different from what I remember as far as decor... but the churrasco sandwich was still very decent , and their signature sauce is actually the same. I think that one of their special sandwiches is the Cuban Sarussi, and from what I saw on reviews, I think it still is. Good place overall for a good sandwich and a cold beer. Give it a try when in the area.

After a friend hyped up the sandwiches here, I had to come try it out. I can safely say that this is the best Cuban sandwich I've ever had. From the moment I got it, just the smell alone had me over the moon. Sarussi has been featured on the popular TV show, Man vs. Food. The bread is what you first are mesmerized by. This is glistening in the light and is so fresh and soft. Then the meats - the ham and pork is so flavorful and generously added. The cheese is also super subtle yet adds a great chewiness to the sandwich. The pickles add a nice crunch and tartness to balance the savory and fatty meats and cheese. Finally. The secret sauce. That sauce, so tangy, so thick, and so good. It's imperative to have for this sandwich alone. Overall, for the best Cuban sandwich known to man, come here. You won't be disappointed.

Sarussi had a lot of hype back in the day but it has died down. However, the food is as good as it's always been. I love coming here for lunch. Their menu is small but full of solid choices. Their sandwiches are where it's at. My go to order is the churrasco sandwich with their special house sauce and un batido de banana (banana smoothie). SOOOO GOOOD!

This is an OG spot! It came from a recommendation from a cuban who has lived in Miami for 30+ years saying it's delicious. And it sure was, I got the original cuban sandwich. The cuban bread is buttery and perfect! The limonade is fresh and perfectly tart and sweet at the same time. Parking is limited, but as expected for being Calle ocho 8th street OG spot. You're better off getting your sandwich to go at this particular location.

I heard about this place on IG and was excited to try it. I can honestly say this was by far the worst food I have ever eaten in Miami. We ordered the Fritanga wrap and the Cuban sandwich. The gallon pinto was very flavorless and the churrasco was dry and rubbery. The 'secret sauce' they use taste like salty mayo mixed with cheese sauce. The Cuban sandwich was NOT a traditional Cuban sandwich. It was dry, smothered in margarine (not even real butter) and did not have pork in it. So basically a ham sandwich with Swiss cheese and lathered in margarine which over powered the taste of anything in that sandwich. At a whopping g $23 gif the wrap and $19 for the Cuban sandwich, one wound expect a decent meal. Nope! Mayor fail and lesson learned.

Sarussi was one of the first places I ate a Cuban sandwich nearly ten years ago. Apparently August 23rd is National Cuban Sandwich Day and my husband and I found ourselves nearby for dinner. How convenient! We were on the early side of dinner so the place was completely empty. It was clear the staff was enjoying their little break, but we were able to grab their attention to order. We opted for two 8 inch sandwiches - the original Cuban and Vaina Loca which is ropa vieja, beans, maduro, mozzarella, tomato, potato strips and secret sauce. We also opted for tostones to start! Their Cuban sandwich has been featured on shows like Man vs. Food but it's a little different than others because it's not pressed and features "secret sauce." It's also brushed with butter and toasted... Maybe some garlic too? Even so, we enjoyed both of the sandwiches and tostones. The 8 inch is more than enough for one person in my opinion. We ended up taking a little bit to-go of each because we couldn't finish! All in all, Sarussi is a solid casual Cuban spot if you're looking for no-frills grub. I wouldn't say it's the best Cuban sandwich in Miami, but hits the spot if that's what you're craving!

Sarussi steak sandwich had too many potatoes and not enough steak. Very expensive sandwich to be mostly potatoes and bread. Disgraceful!

I came around 1 PM and the restaurant was really busy with locals and some tourists. The restaurant only has counter seating in the windows with barstool seating (no inside seating) so you have to wait until someone gets up and then you seat yourself. I waited about 2-3 minutes and found a seat (it's all pretty quick because people eat their sandwiches and come and go). When I was seated I was warmly greeted by a restaurant employee and he promptly took my order. I ordered the Bora Bora smoothie to start (around $7) and ordered the turkey and brie cheese sandwich (around $10). The smoothie was made quickly with fresh fruit and the sandwich is a huge portion and came up quick with fresh bread and all fresh produce, the sandwich was truly amazing!
