Every time I come here the guy that takes the order is VERY hard of hearing. I would 1 star this place but the food is good. Hire people that speak proper English. I shouldn't have to translate in another language. Ambiance here is your typical mall. read more

Sarku Japan - Receipt - Japanese Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

This has been a go to spot for my family, friends, and most of my significant others including my current one whenever we are hungry and at Tacoma Mall. I miss when they had punch cards but not they only have it when they have it on their app but it only applies if you do an online order. The food here has consistently good the food has been. There are times where the rice might be a bit too mushy or undercooked but other than that, the meats are always good great and the steamed vegetables are delicious and made to perfection. The service here is decent, the cashier is usually friendly and professional and the cooks are good about announcing order numbers and making sure orders go to the right people. The food also doesn't take too long either which is great as they always have a line here. The station can be clean for the most part but sometimes it does get messy due to customers. I also appreciate that they have sriracha packets rather than the bottle cause I felt grossed out cause some people just don't know how to use it. read more

Good price for a chicken teriyaki meal with a drink and two eggrolls. Staff was very quick and friendly. The food tasted fresh and hot.

Door Dashed chicken teriyaki with noodles from Sarku at Tacoma mall and it was delicious. The chicken has a sweet soy sauce glaze and the noddles tasted fresh. read more

I haven't had Sarku Japan, nor teriyaki in a while. So, my sister and I decided to go to the Tacoma Mall and grab some Chicken Teriyaki. We each got our own plate of Chicken Teriyaki. All in all, it was good and hit the cravings we had for teriyaki. I wish they didn't give so much rice compared to protein, but it is what it is. Still ate it all. read more

It's mall food. It isn't great, but you definitely get the urge for this style sometimes,if you're like me. They have really good portions and it's usually enough to have some for later. read more

Sarku Japan served Frank B a tasty plate of chicken with Noodles today. Now I know what your thinking and your correct who cares it's a mall / food court dining experience. However it tasted great what can I say. The food court does not offer a great place to dine due to LOUD SCREAMING BRATS and ambient noise yet it still didn't cloud the fresh cooked meal I was served. So if you locate yourself @ Tacoma Mall grab some grub it's cheap and plenty! Frank B over & out! read more

Food is great! They have speedy service! I just wish they had more locations. Take-out type of place, definitely a "to-go" place. We've never had any issues with undercooked or overcooked food its been well prepared and accurate each time. read more

Waited an hour for my food to be done in store while they gave everyone else who came in and ordered AFTER ME their food while I waited and went up to them twice about my order. Also did not speak very good english so hard to communicate. Once my food was finally ready the person had an attitude and after an hours wait the food was absolutely tasteless and had ZERO sauce or seasoning. I will never come back here ever again in my life! Horrible horrible experience. read more

I ordered 3 chicken teriyaki yesterday, one had a piece of metal in it that looked like a nose ring or something. The other had two long strands of hair in it. Never going back to this place again. One of the teriyaki was for my younger baby boy and if he ate the metal and choked I would've been extremely mad but good thing I seen it and was watching him eat. read more

The best food in the tacoma mail! the rice used to give me heartburn but lately it hasn't! They're the only one who gets most of the business in the food court! I would drive all the way to the mall so i can get my son this food which he can eat anytime of the day! Wish they would bring back the punch card- :-) read more

My food was bland. No seasoning of any type. I ordered teriyaki chicken and shrimp with rice and veg. The veggies were barely warm dumped on rice with grilled just barely chicken and cold to touch shrimp there was zero teriyaki flavor at all to this dish. The dumplings went in the trash. I do not expect gourmet at a food court but let's be real this is trash and I wouldn't waste another dime here. read more

Nice portion, I like that shrimp is offered. Lacking a little flavor. Overall a good option for lunch though.

I've been here many many times before from when they first opened. Never have I had any issues years before Covid. Before Covid, their plates were much bigger. Portions were fare. Seasonings we're amazing. Everything was fresh. It's been a couple of years since I've been back, but it seems their business went downhill and are now money hungry cheating people with their plate size, portions, & prices. They stuff the plate with more than 2 scoops of rice. 1 less cup of veggies & just 3-4 pieces of shrimps & the rest were chicken. Idk abt any of you, but I'd like to even out my meat portion with rice. Well, they like to give you more rice than you need. Veggies are not fresh as they advertise! All that's amazing to me now is the Sauce! Whatever that secret sauce is.. that's the only reason why people keep coming back. Customer service can be more efficient than expected & the cooks, well they need to be more NEAT with the scoops. Other than that, the sauce only is bomb!! read more

Favorite favorite teriyaki in the whole wide world, this brand is surprisingly only found in mall's food court! I've tried that whole mom and pops teriyaki that's suppose to be legit, nope doesn't even compare. The only thing that other teriyaki joints has over these guys is the salad with house made dressing. I've been eating here ever since I was a little girl, I usually find food court in malls to be mediocre food, but this is the one place I'll eat at! They usually have someone out front handing out samples, it's soooo addicting once you get a bite of it. Like crack cocaine, literally you have to turn around to buy yourself an entree to get more of it. As you're standing in line, they are cooking it right in front of you. Ignore what it looks like before it's cooked and ask for extra teriyaki sauce. You can get double meat for like a dollar more, that's enough food to feed 2 mouths. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:) read more

I ate at this location on Friday in the afternoon. It turned out to be the biggest mistake I made all week. I should have known better since it was after the busy lunch rush and who knows how long that chicken was piled up on the side of the grill before I got there. This was the last thing I ate on Friday. When I got home I started feeling very ill. By nightfall I was running a fever and ached all over. Several trips to the bathroom were required. My stomach was in so much pain all day yesterday and into this morning. The last time I ate here I had a similar result but decided to give it another try since it had been over a year. Big mistake!!! Will not be eating here ever again. read more

It's a shame. My girlfriend works in the mall and use to eat here once a week until recently, on a Sunday evening she came to order food at 6:50 and the cashier took the customers order in front of her and then told her they were closed. She mentioned it wasn't even 7 yet and that it was 6:50 and the cashier didn't care at all. The mall is open to 7pm on sundays which means all the shops and restaurants are open till 7pm. Unfortunately she won't be back and even tossed away her frequent buying card. Talk about poor customer service. read more

The chicken teriyaki is awesome. The steamed rice was over cooked and mushy. It may be the best place in the food court, but having been to Japan, don't think the food other than the chicken is very good. read more

I know I always say I rarely give 5 stars and here I am giving it to an establishment that is located inside the Tacoma Mall food court!! GO Figure!!! I don't know what it is about this place but the food is ridiculously DEELISH!!! I always just go simple with the chicken teriyaki and white rice, you really can't go wrong. The flavor is perfect, no need for extra sauce or extra anything! If the line for this place doesn't tell ya than I don't know what to say:) read more

I'm a regular at Sarku and usually love their chicken teriyaki but today they gave me burnt chicken and nasty tasting white rice. I took my order home to eat so Ididn't know until I got home and couldn't eat my food because it's burnt and nasty. I have called to get ahold of them and they ether don't answer or hang up on me and say no speak English. Worst costumer service ever... read more

I stop here every time I'm heading down to Oregon, and it's delicious every time. The chicken teriyaki is tender and flavorful (their sauce is Yummy!). I order with mushrooms and add some Sriracha sauce (provided there) afterward to "Napalm the jungle" as they say. The portions are generous; I don't feel the need to double the meat although they push pretty hard for it. Grab a coupon from the sample-handler that will get you a 2nd order for only $3.99. If you're alone, work out a deal with the person in line behind you. :) Yes it's food court food, but I like t and have no complaints. Also, remember to ask for extra sauce on your meal once they finish it! read more

Sarku Japan - Double chicken! - Japanese Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

I wish I could give this place a negative zero. The cook messed up the order. mind you there are only 5 people in line and once we went to order the foos, another chaser (a Korean women) jumped out and acted like we didn't pay for our order, as some guy behind us literally popped up and, wasn't in a line of 5 people and he gave the first tray to some random person and had a whole attitude when he tried to accuse me of not paying then gave him my receipt and was mad he was wrong. I asked for extra vegetables and threw a whole fit cause he looked dumb. I'm going to go further with this because that man was beyond disrespectful read more

This place is the worst they tried to give me someone else's food after they got their order wrong! Idk what happened to that food I payed for fresh food not someone else's. Take so long, burnt chicken, they didn't give me teriyaki sauce, they didn't give Sirachia sauce. They cooked too slow.

I had the chicken teriyaki, very blend all around, the rice was stale, the chicken lacked sauce, and I hate steamed vegetables therefore I'm biased, if you are hungry you probably won't care about anything I said :) read more

Food is good but employees are very rude. If the service was better I'd give 5 stars but from my point of view the service you receive can make or break an experience and with the service I received today they have lost me as a customer. Looking for fast and greasy and not care for the price? Come here. Food is good but pricey

I always get the same thing here, they make the best chicken teryaki. Most of the teryaki places in town use full chicken breasts/parts then cut them down into strips, then they toss some sauce on top. This place is better because they use raw cut up chicken which is marinated and then throw it on the grill when you order it. Makes for a more tender, fresher meat. Plus their teriyaki sauce is a "cooked" sauce which isn't as sugary sweet as many other places. Whenever you go,there is a huge line in front of the place, while the other places are ghost town empty. Plus the basic plate is under $6 and double meat for only about a buck. You can't beat this place for cheap good eats. read more

I ordered the chicken teriyaki with fried rice and steamed vegetables. The food is actually pretty good for food court Asian food. I couldn't find anything wrong with it. I would like some spice or heat in it, but they have rooster sauce sitting on hand for that. I gave it three stars because it's not mind blowing good; it's quick take away food from a mall food court. You get what you expect and that's not always bad. read more

I went there yesterday about 10:30 am and got the chicken teriyaki. First I tasted the rice and it was cold so I went back and asked for hot rice they gave me a container that was about a third the size of the first container and heated up some rice on the grill. So now I had warmed up dried out rice mixed with little black grill bits mixed in. I scraped my chicken out of the first container with the cold rice still stuck to it on top of the warmed up rice. I went back and then tried the chicken which ended up being crunchy and dried out. I just took it back and got a refund. No apology or anything. read more

Good chicken teriyaki and they add double meet for one dollar. The only problem is finding a clean place to eat in the Mall Food Court.
