So, my moms washer died suddenly after 12 years, and we were in need of a new one sooner than later. I checked out a few stores and product lines and we generally knew what we wanted. We chose Sargent because they carry more top of the line products that some other stores don't. We weren't anticipating getting anything fancy. We had a budget and figured something in the Maytag or Whirlpool family. No front loaders due to a smaller more narrow laundry room that wouldn't work well with the space itself. The showroom here's nice with a great variety of product. They have metered parking up front and a private, free lot right behind. I came here alone at first to view the product to report back to my mom so she could get an idea of what they had. (remember, I also went to Lowe's, Home Depot and ABC Warehouse which I HATE WITH ALL MY BEING.) The nice salesman didn't make me or my mom feel pressured in anyway and allowed us to decide for ourselves what we wanted to do. He told us the features of each machine and has been doing this for many years. My mom ended up getting a speed queen 7000 because it was the nicest one they have. The salesman said they sell the most of the speed queen 3000 model which is pretty basic. All speed queens cost double what the rest of the models they have on the floor, so I thought it was a bit much, but hey, what mom wants, mom gets, right? I like that they also have electrolux as well which is what I would've gotten but I also wasn't paying. You can order online and have it delivered, so that's a bonus. My coworker ordered her new washer the same week I did from Sargent but out of a different (macomb) location. They upgraded her because they didn't have her whirlpool in stock so they gave her the next model up. Anyway, I digress. The washer was delivered and installed that Monday after my mom purchased it on a Saturday. Everything worked great and their prices are competitive. Also, regarding delivery and take away, we did the math and it sort of works out all the same regardless of where you purchase. These guys might run a few bucks cheaper, but not much. Overall I'm satisfied with it and would return in the future for more viewing of products if needed. read more

Needed a new washer and dryer and turned to Sargent Appliance. Inside is nice with tons of floor models to check out. Sales person greeted us and I was worried about the whole sleazy sales guy pitch. But instead our sales person was approachable and no pressure. Told him what we were looking for and we did our research before going in. Confirmed what I read online and he seemed to give solid advice. Printed out the information regarding the washer and dryer and all the fees. Again no pressure. Said they have a ton in stock and whenever we are ready call them up. Purchased over the phone. Delivery was set for a few days later. All moved quickly. Day of the delivery guys gave us a window when they would be there. Friendly and efficient in taking our old appliances and installing our new ones. Value wise, hard to say since the brand we went with doesn't really do deals or anything. But we were happy with the whole experience from sales, to install to enjoying our new appliances! read more

Today is Aug 13th 2024. I bought a Bosch Dishwasher from the Rochester store on June 3rd. Paid for installation, When the installer came out the unit was missing the bottom panels. The unit was installed without the bottom panels which the store ordered and they were shipped to us. After installation we noticed that the unit moves from left to right and is not secure. Called the salesman several times and once actually talked to my salesman and he said he would set up another service visit. That was 3 weeks ago, nothing but crickets. We bought a 1,400 stove from here. They offered us a floor model for $200 less. We said no, we prefer a brand new one. Waited two weeks and they delivered the stove. I noticed right away the scratch on top that I saw on the floor model. Drove right over there and sure enough the floor model was gone!! He offered us 300 Off. NO apology, NO explanation!! After it looked like Sears was closing down, we needed to find a new go-to store for appliances. I figured we'd shop local. Sales staff was helpful and we bought a new refrigerator, new dishwasher, new range, and a new drawer microwave. I even bought the extended warranty for the refrigerator. Yeah, that was a mistake. I've twice needed repair and I've twice had to do it myself because I could never get someone out here. When you call for extended warranty repair they give you another number to call and talk to Michelle. First time I called she said it would be like 3 weeks to get someone out to my house. For a non-operational refrigerator, that's not helpful. So I went to the appliance parts store and watched some youtube videos and fixed it myself. The second time I called, it was a similar story on repair time. So I did my homework and found that the issue was something the manufacture knew about and was covering, so I asked if they could just send me the part and I would do it myself. She said no, they need to have someone see the problem. But then she said, "wait -- I'll call the manufacturer and see what they can do; they may be able to send someone out faster." So I waited. And waited. She never called back. So again, I had to buy the part myself and youtube the repair. So I paid hundreds of dollars for an extended 5-year warranty for nothing. My fridge needs repair again and I'm just not going to bother with them. I will not shop here again, and you shouldn't either. read more

I agree with Peggy G's review. I really need to break the habit of going into this place just because it's close to where I live. I have purchased appliances here for several homes including two sets of washers and dryers, stoves, ovens, range hoods, microwaves etc. This was the last straw. They dropped off a new washer and dryer today and wouldn't take the empty boxes with them. Their installers reek of cigarettes, have poor grammar are clumsy and always seem like they're in a hurry to get to their next delivery. Support from the store in terms of coordinating installations around other contractors during remodeling was awful. I have been in to see the same three miserable sales people on about eight different occasions. Every time I go there they act like they've never seen me before. I could go on. It's sad. So we got the lovely joy have having to buy a new refrigerator during the Covid19 thing. ‍ Thank goodness we got ahold of Dave at Sargent. We couldn't go to the store because of the lockdown. Home Depot was open but I wasn't going out and they couldn't deliver for 5 days and would only dump my new fridge at the curb. Well what good is that!?! Dave and Sargent to the rescue. We picked out a fridge over the phone. I wasn't the easiest customer. Probably called him 4 times asking about different ones. Finally settled on a black french door one he had on clearance! Got financed over the phone. Zero interest for 18 months! Then free delivery and take the old one for 20 bucks. Plus they delivered into the house and placed it where we needed it. They also followed strict social distancing and were wearing masks and gloves. (normally I wouldn't be letting any masked and gloved guys in my house but obviously these are different times!)(lol). Very nice guys as well. So far the fridge is great. Our experience with Dave at Sargent was great as well so I highly recommend you call him when you need anything. I plan to!! read more

My family member has had a horrific experience with Sargent Appliances in Rochester, Mi. Salesman, William took our order in June 2020 for all kitchen and laundry room appliances said 4 months for delivery. We paid in full for all the GR Profile appliances, so In October William sends Deana Barendse a message that all of our order was in, when can we deliver? We said December 12....But our Fridge was missing by the date and also DW! By a miracle William locates another fridge, not ours, but someone else's but if we still wanted a DW w e must pay an upcharge of $200, because ours was given away and all they had was a pricier model.. when remodel of kitchen was ready for the install of our $2000 Fridge the black stripping around door falls off.the for 10 days later... .. so now door won't stay shut . Useless defective or maybe another customers reject, they got our fridge. Sargent manager wouldn't address our problem and William hands are tied, says call GE repair...Sargent takes returns in a 2 week window with a 25% restocking fee... Beware neighbors and friends, They play bait and switch and if they were a member of BBB I could report them and have leverage but Sargents Appliances does not belong. Honestly, this is my second review, the first one I deleted as I thought the company was going to make good on their promise. However today, I find out they are reneging on their deal. Here's my side of the story: My ice maker stopped working. After two weeks of WAITING for the Warranty Manager to call me back and 100+ excuses later, we finally were able to get an appointment with the Appliance repair team. Three weeks later, we are told that Sergeant DOES NOT want to honor their extend warranty that we purchased. I was to call the unresponsive service manager and the owner again for the next two weeks to finally figure out a plan. John finally calls me back and tells me the repair is too costly and therefore would like to provide us with a credit to purchase towards a new appliance. I was reluctant but decide that we would look at purchasing a new refrigerator, knowing Sergeant would give us a credit of approximately $2000 for the existing appliance. I am still hesitant because I did not want to spend any money out of pocket, but I was glad they were willing to work with us. Friday, we stopped by the Macomb store to look at what we wanted to purchase. We were told that The Service Manager was not there (of course not), and someone would be calling us with the price. Having to play phone tag with the owner for 18 hours, we were told that credit was no longer an option and the he ordered us a new refrigerator door 4 weeks ago, when would we like it installed? WHAT? Now you want to honor your extended warranty. Without telling us that what was going to happen? My guess, someone turned in a Whirlpool model identical to mine and I am getting used parts. My husband & I purchased over $10,000 in kitchen appliances from here. Our salesman recommended Kitchen Aid as it's more expensive but a better quality product. Come to find out that is not the case at all! He was just looking for a big commission! We've had 2 different service men come out to fix our oven & it still doesn't work 100% of the time. They didn't offer a warranty on the fridge (too expensive) should've been a red flag, so we are screwed with that. The microwave that cost $600 just died & they don't even make replacement parts for it!! The only appliance we haven't had an issue with is the dishwasher & I'm just waiting for that to die. Will never step foot in this store or purchase kitchen aid again. Be forewarned don't trust them do your own research!! read more

We bought all of our kitchen appliances from them for a new build 3 years ago and it was a good experience, but 2 stars based on my last two purchases here. In both cases, the sale experience was very good. The staff is very knowledgeable, give good advice and the price was competitive with big box stores. We prefer to support local businesses. About a year ago, we bought a second refrigerator from them. Nothing special needed - just extra space and beverages for our basement, so we went basic. However, the model we looked at and ordered had glass shelves. The model we received had wire racks. They ordered us glass shelves, but when they arrived they didn't fit. It wasn't worth the effort to keep trying. They probably would have resolved it, I just didn't have the time-and shouldn't have needed to spend the time-to follow up. Because the unresolved shelves were ultimately my decision, we gave them another shot. This time we ordered a washer. Again, excellent sales experience and a fair price, but again it went south after the sale. We were told it would be delivered the following Wednesday or Thursday.They were supposed to call us the next day (Friday) to confirm availability - they didn't. We had to call. They confirmed and said they would call us Monday to confirm it would ship. Again, no call. Tuesday we called and they said it would be in their warehouse Wednesday or Thursday and they would deliver next day. Again, no follow up. Wednesday we called and they never called back. Friday we called to check and they told us it came in Thursday. Of course no one had called us and they wouldn't deliver that day, so we scheduled delivery for Saturday. They said we'd get a call between 9:30 and noon with a two hour window. Again, no call. When I spoke with the manager, she apologized and offered me a gift certificate, but couldn't get the washer to me any faster. Her response brings the review up from one star to two, but I won't use the gift certificate - the savings isn't worth the hassle. read more

I wasn't going to write- but, decided to do so. We ordered a kitchen set - stove with microwave, cook-top, dishwasher. Wes told it would be in within a week -so, we paid for it. After 10 days and if had not arrived and we didn't get a call, I contacted them and asked for my refund - except for a small deposit. We were given another date - but, the items, did not arrive. They missed the delivery date three additional times. Finally, I got a call and said the items had arrived. I have to visit the store and pay for everyhing in full. I did so on Monday and was told I would bet a delivery call on Tuesday. We had it all set up for installation on Wednesday AM. Our call did not come early Tuesday - so, my wife called. Asked what happened. Said we understood we would get a call between 9AM and 10 AM. Sales person said he never said that. Wife diagreed..and then the sales guys said - this has been so much trouble from the beginning - I wish you would cancel the order. To that, my wife said - OK, cancel. I went to the store that same day - got my full refund. Told the manager that in my opinion, the sales guy was way off. He could have said -sorry for the misunderstanding - but, we are just hours away from bring you your new items. Salesman is nice in person - however, very rude when on the phone. When I walked in - you should have seen his face. My opinion - a real bully and I will never ever shop there again. read more

Our 30 year old refrigerator decided to quit working the night before last. So yesterday morning my wife and I checked a number of the "likely" stores on line and by phone (thanks to COVID-19) to see if any refrigerators were available for immediate delivery. Some had refrigerators in stock, but quoted delivery times of 2 to 6 days or more. I couldn't even get the appliance dept or customer service at Home Depot to answer the phone in spite of several attempts. Then I decided to try Sargent Appliance on Main St. in Rochester. We explained our plight to Nicki and she was very helpful. She had some in stock at their warehouse but indicated that using normal delivery we would be able to get delivery some time the following day. However, she indicated she would call the warehouse and see if there was anything more they could do to get our delivery sooner. She told us that due to our situation, one of their people would put the unit in his pickup truck and bring it to us right away. He would however, not be able to haul away our old unit. Due to rules in place due to the Corona Virus he would only be able to deliver to our garage, and NOT put it in our house. We had heard the same form other merchants we spoke to. We decided to proceed with the purchase. EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY and efficiently. The refrigerator was delivered to our garage by John within less than an hour. I am very grateful to Nicki and John for going out of their way to help us. So I highly recommend Sargent for their personal service. Their slogan "Big enough to compete, small enough to care" is exactly accurate! read more

Please do yourself a favor and stay away. My husband convinced me to go with Sargents, he felt he would get small business reciprocity, we would give our business and they would deliver customer service. We are coming up on a year and it couldn't be further from the truth. We purchased a Kitchenaid Suite, Refr, Dwh, Double Oven, Down Draft Fan, Beverage Cooler, and Induction Cooktop. The Sales guy William was great. That's where the customer service ends. Fast forward 7 months and my downdraft is not working, I call Sargents to understand steps to make an appointment and the office girl Patty says she will handle and have someone call me. 2 weeks pass and no call, so I call Patty back she attempts to track down and then tells me that kitchenaid doesn't have anyone to come to my home in Leonard (20 min north of the store) she then tells me to find a service provider and the manufacturer will reimburse me for the labor and upto $100 in parts. ( for a downdraft fan i bought from them that is still under 1 yr manufacturers warranty). she the pulls in her manager, and fast forward 2 months they have a guy at my home to install a new unit. But he is not comfortable doing that so he leaves it with me. I have my remodeler install the new unit, and i go to sargents for reimbursement, they offer to reimburse me for part of the reinstall ( still waiting on the check). they also would send someone out to pick it up, i had to take the down draft to them and in the process reinjured my back. ( still waiting on the check). in the meantime, my dishwasher rack has becoming very noisy and i reached out to sargents, again i had to make 2 calls to get them to set up an appointment with their TV and appliance repair guy, the guy comes out for 5 minutes, confirms the issue, and tells me since they did not install it, we will need to uninstall it so he can put in a new rack mechanism. when i talk to Patti, the manager at sargents she offers to check on it, and call me the next day, she also mentions that the downdraft i just returned in 2/2020 - their records show them returning to inventory in 11/2019, and i wonder if the "2019 loss" translated into raised prices. Patti never called the day she could she called the day after and really had no answer, told me she talked to the service manager and he had thoughts around why the technician would need me to uninstall my dishwasher, why they could not, I asked, did he talk to the tech, her response was no.. he had not, followed by more rhetoric. and self hubris, telling me that she was doing me a service. and that I should call the service company. I challenged her on that since she provided no real answer, her response, its a service, i asked her is telling me to pay for repairs on my downdraft that was under warranty a service, if so, I would be looking elsewhere for appliances i need for a second home, she responded with ok thank you and hung up on me. Its been a few hours and I have tracked down someone at kitchenaid/whirlpool who has told me Nicki never should have told me to contact the service providers without talking to them, they had no record of my issue with my dishwasher, and in pulling out my paperwork, my warranty expires tomorrow.. Something a real customer service manager should have shared, by indicating that if i choose a different provider, be cognizant of my warranty date. She is not interested in a return customer/revenue. But rather her self importance of what she feels is good customer service, what she fails to understand is that if shes not aligned with her customers as other reviews here suggest.. she will be losing many of them. Shes more concerned to tell you that she makes enough money now as a manager to pay for things that she needs and all she has to do is baby sit her staff Keep away... you'll save yourself a whole lot of headaches. read more

I agree with David Z's (and Peggy G's) review, only our experience was a step below, if this is possible. Sargent's had called, stating that the several appliance order had arrived (this was about a week behind the promised date). So while scheduling delivery / installation, they discovered that one appliance was missing, refusing even a partial installation. At this point I explained that my stepmom had been going through chemotherapy, and to at least replace the one nonworking appliance would be helpful, especially with the realization that they had not been punctual with the order. I further explained that to schedule a week or two later would be when my stepmom would be experiencing extreme unpleasant side effects from the chemotherapy and would be a very tough time for her. I was shocked when they said that they still would not do the installation, even though our order had already suffered a delay, due to the fact that our order was not complete. They showed no compassion for the stressful health concern present, even though they (the manager) had broken their end of the order. To add more vinegar to our feelings, Sargent's, along with their installers, charged extra for delivery, removal of old appliances, hook up's and any cuts necessary for installation. Our job required making some cuts in our cabinet. The installers used a very dull blade, making smoke as well dust over the entire kitchen. None of which was wiped up. Every piece of packing was left behind, as well as the packing screws were left loose on the garage floor. Near completion, they explained that they had a hectic schedule and left in a hurry. Throughout the entire job, any degree of professionalism was lacking. Obviously, we now understand why the major chains are winning out, and the one door that we will never pass through again, will be Sargent's Appliance. DO NOT USE! Sargent's failed to perform on a contract today! They quoted a set install fee for an Island Range Hood and a Refridgerator. When the installer got to our home he insisted that the fee was wrong and that he would not perfom the install for the contracted price. After calling the store the store owner also refused to remedy the situation in any professional manner and tried to tell us our only option was to pay more for the install or come into the store for a refund. The owner was rude, dishonest and extremely unprofessional. It's a shame too because we were actually were willing to pay a bit more for the appliances to support a local business rather than buy them online. We will never use Sargent's again and we would not recommend anyone else use them either. read more

We purchased a complete kitchen set (stove, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher) from Sargent about 18 months ago. Unfortunately, the refrigerator - a GE Profile counter depth - quit working about 3 weeks ago. We contacted Sargent and they said there was nothing they could do to help us. This wasn't a cheap refrigerator - not top of the line but I think we paid about $3200. Probably could have shopped around and found it at a better price but we heard that Sargent was a great place to shop. And, we wanted to support local business. Well, that was a mistake!! The refrigerator quit working - we lost all of our food in both the refrigerator and freezer. We had a repair man from GE out to our house - he said that having a compressor go is very rare and that it would be a huge job to repair. He suggested fighting for a new appliance. GE would not budge - here we are, 3 weeks later and we still do not have a working refrigerator. Home Depot, Lowes, and ABC Warehouse would have replaced this without question. Lesson learned... do not use Sargent Appliance - they will not support you if you have any problem with a purchase from their store. read more

Bought 6 appliances for a newly constructed home. Our salesman William was great. We put down a 25% payment with our order. The construction took longer than we anticipated and a number of the appliances ended up actually costing less then when we ordered since they went on sale during the time we ordered and took delivery. We had a problem with our slide-in range since our builder had not set our cabinets at the correct height. William and the appliance installer, Dan, actually helped us in getting the builder to re-install two cabinets which they had originally refused to do. William and Dan apparently had some leverage with our builder. Yes, they did not take the boxes but that's not a big deal in comparison to saving a significant number of $ and having the excellent installation service the we received. Would definitely use Sargent for future appliance purchases and hopefully get the same installer. read more

Terrible experience. I live Lake Orion, MI and drove 22 miles roundtrip to Sargent Appliance's Rochester, MI store to look at a new GE refrigerator. We told the salesman that we'd consider the refrigerator and returned home. The next day we decided to buy it and called the store and purchased the unit for $1,400 giving the salesman our credit card information over the phone. He completed the sale over the phone; the charged posted to our credit card account the same day, and the unit was scheduled for delivery the following Saturday. On Saturday we stayed home all day waiting for the delivery, but as the day wore on there was no delivery. Late Saturday afternoon I called the Rochester store to ask where the delivery guy was. The salesman said the unit had been damaged and apologized for not calling to let us know. The salesman agreed to give us a refund if we decided to purchase elsewhere ... which we did. I called the salesman to get the credit to our card and he informed me that I'd have to actually come to the store in order to get our credit. In other words, they take your credit card information over the phone when selling you something, but then insist that you drive 22 miles to get a credit ... all due to their lack of performance. I asked to speak to the manager and told her that if I had to make the drive, it would be my last business with them. She said sorry, but I'd have to make the drive if I want the credit - policy. My wife drove the 22 miles round trip and we finally got the credit to our credit card account 6 days later. My advice ... don't buy from Sargent Appliance. read more

First let me start off by saying it will always pay off in the long run to avoid the big box stores and go with local business. Why? Because at the end of the day the same sale persons will be there 2 years later when you need help...and that was just our case. Two years ago my wife and I bought a new house and with that came the need to purchase all new appliances. After shopping around for some reason we decided to go with Best Buy just to save a few dollars. Appliances were ordered and scheduled for delivery on the day we were moving in. By about 5:00 PM moving day no one had shown up and we were getting s little worried so we decided to call and find out what was going on. After speaking to the manager of Best Buy we were told that a mistake was made in the delivery system and it would be about 2 weeks before they could come and were unable to do anything outside their normal process. This of course made us furious given the amount of money we had spent with them. Not to mention being in a new house with no appliances for two weeks. The next morning I called Sargent Appliance and explained to them what happened and asked if they could do anything to help us. I spoke with William, gave him the background on what happened, and what we were looking for. He said that they actually had the same models in stock and I should come in to see when they could get them out. I told him consider them sold and I would be right in. When I walked in the door and met William he let me know that everything was good, they are loading all the appliances on the delivery truck now, and they should be out with installers in a few hours. I signed some finance papers, thanked him religiously, and told him that we always come to him when we need appliances for the house. Everything was installed that day. Sargent and William basically saved our day. I called Best Buy and happily canceled a $7,000+ order even after they offered us a $1,500 gift card. I told them they will never see a dime of my money again. Let's fast forward now to 2014 and the story of our lemon refrigerator. Since we got the refrigerator (I won't mention the manufacturers name) we have had multiple issues with it. Right before this past Christmas (2014) we woke up to water on the floor and a refrigerator full of spoiled food. The unit completely failed and blew warm air all night. After speaking with the manufacturer and being told that it will be about a week until they can come out to repair....I had just had it. I went into Sargent that morning and saw William there. After a few years he still remembered me and listened while I explained to him what happened. Immediately he started to collect the repair history and documentation on all our purchases from the same manufacturer. He then got in contact with his rep to see what could be done to simply replace our fridge because of all the problems. After working and pushing on the manufacturer we were offered a different model fridge and had it to our house within a few days! The delivery guys showed up and had the old fridge out and the new one in its place within a few minutes. About an hour later an installer showed up to connect the water line and make sure everything was running like it should. The knowledge, professionalism, and customer service we received not only from William but also from the rest of the group at Sargent was great. It was their persistence to help us that got the job done. It will always pay off in the long run to develop a relationship with your local business like it did here! read more

I also am amazed at the terrible customer service from this retailer. We had two home remodeling projects and I was unhappy with them the first time. But my husband insisted on giving this hometown business another shot when we did a full kitchen remodel. I was so angry with not going with my gut and once again was extremely disappointed in the level of service - especially with the large amount of money we had spent with them. I won't go into boring details but I never miss a chance to let friends and family know how I feel and I will never go back to this store. read more

The only thing worse than their incompetent installers was the customer service. If you don't care how the product is installed or mind the lack of customer service and follow up, then this place is for you. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Bought a convection double oven and immediately had problems with a loud fan. Called Sargents immediately. Took two weeks to get someone else to fix. Sargent sales team was not real helpful and ultimately I had to reach out to manufacturer. Manager at Sargents said I should have bought a high end model and was rude and condescending. Obviously will never go back-just no way to treat customers. read more

I just purchased another appliance from Sargent's. I bought a washing machine without even entering the showroom. I called my favorite salesperson (who is now at the Macomb store), explained what I was looking for - she gave me two model numbers to look up online - and I called her up later that day and made my purchase.
