You have a vision of what a doctor should be, but again convince yourself that that vision is far from attainable...well the doctors of this family practice will prove to you that your "unattainable" vision can actually be obtained.

So I come back at 1:30 to them telling me that the doctor is now on lunch break and that they've been telling people (not including me) to go to other open clinics. Ridiculous. I ask where the express care clinic is I was told across the mall and old sears. Yet another mistake, the clinic was located at the bottom of promontory. BIG waste of my time. Absolutely ridiculous. 10/10 do not recommend, unless its absolute last resort.

It sure would be nice if this clinic could look at hiring doctors that are interested in staying within the community so that the patients/clients have consistency with a family doctor. Also, the front desk staff are extremely rude. They need to learn some customer service skills.

For Dr Thompson I give him 4 stars for his ability to practice while struggling with Parkinson's disease and the difficulty being able tolerate his bossy rude and very unprofessional wife Sara. Be prepared if you call the office, Sara will be sure to be terrible to you, she will talk so fast you cannot understand her, and she will not be considerate to your needs. When you make an appointment and come into the office expect the same rude and unprofessional behavior. For example, if she knows you, don't expect any polite conversation or her to ask in a general fashion " Hello Mr so and so, how are your doing this morning?". She will however not acknowledge you are a human being, she will treat you worse than a bad pet and talk so fast and mumble something you can't understand or boss you around. Dr Thompson- I encourage you to keep practicing but without your wife ever talking , ever answering and never have any patient interaction. Better yet, do not have her in the medical office at all. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, compassion and in a genuinely caring and kind manner. Every body has a bad day but she is is truly unlike any person I have ever encountered in my over 30 years in a medical profession. He takes the time to give as much information to us about our health, answer our questions that we have without rushing us out the door - regardless of who's waiting to see him next. Located within the Sapperton area of New Westminster, Columbia Medical is a 4-storey medical office building housing a variety of medical professional services. The building is very centrally- and conveniently-located to other such services within Sapperton. These include: the Royal Columbia Hospital (the emergency entrance to the hospital is located directly across the street), on Keary Street, the nearby Keary Centre and Royal City Medical, plus a LifeLabs med lab, and additional drug prescription facilities at a Shoppers Drug Mart and Save-on Foods Supermarket, each just a short walk away. If the family doctor refers us to a specialist at Columbia Medical, we know it is a great location, easy to get to, and handy to so many nearby additional services if/when required.

They charge $80 for a very little tiny page. They charge $85 to $100 for missing appointments. Long waits despite appt are frequently peppered with angry confrontations btwn Dr. and patient. Referral to a specialist may take many months if at all. No interest, no follow-up. No basic cross-checking. In one case specialist arranged appt but 'reception' failed to notify. Required new appt just to find out! A routine, recurrent script for the same thing a specialist had prescribed with monthly refills for a yr required two appts at Sullivan. God help anyone in the kind of pain that requires opioids, the medical profession's whipping boy that ensures cowardly MDs will continue to undertreat extreme pain. Sullivan MDs have no interest in investigating any condition not easily identified using a crass med school reductionist model and NO mitigation is offered for even the most urgent, debillitating symptoms while awaiting specialist. Basically, a bunch of rank amateurs some less charming than others. Sullivan, alas, is now the rule not the exception in Canada's destroyed health scheme. Successive assaults of uninvested foreigners offered full access in exchange for votes - votes Cdns will no longer confer - votes very much intended to dilute Cdns' votes - along with med school entry bias in favor of any BUT Cdns has proved our undoing. Canadians pay a scandalous amount of tax for health care. Why, when it's this bad? Most galling is our inability to contract with a specialist we select ourselves on OUR time. MSP won't pay. Why not?! Basic quality care from a GP is now a luxury few Cdns enjoy. Hell, we're lucky if the treating MD, typically now a stranger at some impersonal factory clinic, is even civil. Too many of our overpaid, overloved MDs GP and specialist alike are just plain insulting. Why? B/c they know we have no recourse. We have to take it along with the endless wait times. Phooey! The BC College of Physicians and Surgeons has been well aware for more than five yrs of the dangerous dearth of GPs in South Surrey yet they STILL do nothing to mitigate. Is it time to end MDs' rapacious monopoly, which operates on condition that they protect the public interest? How much worse must our health services become before this lazy, corrupt governing body stirs its ancient Industrial Age stumps? That the College's shameful collusion in covidiocy is now the subject of action at the International Criminal Court (ICC) is still further grounds to end its unearned monopoly and increase competition among MDs in Canada in line with demand. If the College fails to ensure reasonable access to medical care at a reasonable standard we the people must demand termination of the monopoly and a corresponding reduction in tax as MDs are forced once again to the market to compete for our custom with competitive pricing. I say, bring it.
