My family & I came here after one of our tours. This restaurant had a moderate size dining area. They have a lot of options on their menu. We wanted to order everything!! They only have single serving dishes, but they all come with ALOT of rice. There were 4 of us in one table, and we ordered 6 dishes for everyone to share. We were able to bring home 2 rice servings, but we ate everything else! Everything was so delicious! We had Bicol Express, Dinuguan, Sisig, Ginisang Sayote, Lomi, Chicken BBQ (meal) & Pork BBQ (side). All of the employees were really nice. Restaurant was clean. This place is located right off an area with a lot of shops. You place your order at the counter then wait for them to call your number when your food is done. What I like about this place is that there's a lot of meat and rice dishes. A lot of places in Rome have pasta, paninis and pizza - but rarely meat dishes. I ordered the pork adobo and we also had a couple of other plates. There's plenty of meat! I barely finished mine. The adobo was good. I'd like to try the other plate with meat and a fried egg. It's a good place to take a break from all the pasta & pizza. However some of the dishes were lacking in seasoning. We ordered Pansit, sisig, pulabok, pork & fish sinigang, and chicken inahaw. The pansit was bland, plulabok was on the wet side (noddle was thinner than usual), the sinigang was okay wished it was a bit more tart. The service was polite, spoke tagalog. My fiancée and I ordered pork bbq and chicken bihon and we really loved it. The taste was authentic, the serving was big enough for two and it's very cheap. I wish I had taken photos - the smell was just too good that we ate it straight away. We were given plastic cutleries and it made me even feel more at home. Oh My God. Thank you for saving us in Rome. I went to Rome with a whole bunch of Filipinos and by the third day we were over pasta and just wanted rice and some type of oily side/soup. By our 11th and last day in Rome, we couldn't wait any longer...we needed Filipino food. Italy's Chinese food just didn't cut it. After visiting the Vatican, we stumbled upon a souvenir shop with Filipino employees. After buying some souvenirs, we asked them where we can get the best Filipino food. Without hesitation, they recommended Sarap. And that's where we went next. Service - the cashier walked us through the menu, what can be a la carte, what's a combo, and what dessert is available. THE COMBO INCLUDES BOTTLED WATER! We even got a cup of soup to drink while we waited for our food. I felt like crying! This is what I needed! Food - like a home cooked meal! I got the sinigang with rice. My husband got the lechon kawali and Bicol express with rice. The portion was fulfilling but I was still able to eat my leche flan and I MELTED Price - a bit pricey but they basically monopolized Filipino food in the area and I can't imagine how much ingredients cost to make dinuguan. We heard there was a Filipino restaurant in Rome, so naturally, my mother wanted to find it. Easy to find, close to Vatican City (12 min walk) and one block from Ottaviano Metro. The restaurant is self service, meaning you order at the counter, and they call your number when ready. They had 21 different combo options displayed on their electronic menu, typical Filipino fare. €6 for my bistek Tagalog combo with rice and a bottle of water. Compared to the Filipino restaurants I'm used to back home (NJ/NYC) this rates average. Considering this is centrally located in Rome, without many Filipinos, brings the rating up some. Recommendations are the sinigang soup and banana Turin for dessert. Would def come by again for my Asian fix in Rome. read more

Sarap was the perfect place for a break from pasta and pizza. It was a little walk from our place on Borgo Pio but it was worth it. It is well lit, clean and has good AC. The picky eater in our group loved the bbq chicken and rice. We also ordered pancit palabok, pork adobo, pork sinigang and my daughter ordered the longanisa. We enjoyed it all but the palabok was a little soggy (they use thinner noodles than what I'm used to.) Sarap saved our lives... After almost two weeks in country, I don't think we could have eaten another slice of pizza or plate of pasta. We were surprised to find that dining cuisine options are incredibly limited in Italy. Visiting from a city in the U.S. teeming with a rich mix of culture in cuisine availability, we incorrectly assumed that cities the size of Florence or Rome may also offer similar varieties in the types of food. That's not to say we didn't anticipate plenty of pizza/pasta restaurants in the touristy areas, and we certainly ate our fill, but that country is kind of out-of-hand with their rigidity towards embracing different food cultures in a way that we hadn't experienced in traveling to other nations. With all of that out of the way, we luckily stumbled onto Sarap after leaving the Vatican in search of lunch on our last day of sight seeing, and it saved our outlook on food in Italy. Sarap is a Filipino restaurant that offers, from what we could tell, an authentic menu. We tried the crunchy pork and the chopped pig ears over rice and both were incredible! Also, they have free liver soup with ginger available for everyone to try that warmed us back from cool rainy Rome weather. The service was warm and welcoming, and we were happy to be greeted with the friendliness that isn't always present elsewhere. Lastly, the prices were not matched elsewhere in the city with us spending a total of €19 for two full sized meals and two beers. Furthermore, they provide a bottle of regular (not sparkling) water with each meal - something that apparently is not cheap in Italy as other places charged us between €5 and €10 for regular water... We truly wish these guys were in our area, but we were so thankful to find them in Rome. read more
