I told Shane from the very beginning that I needed a 20' truck. He said no, a 16' would do because the ceilings are high. Not a very good practice to not listen to a paying customer. The 16' foot truck arrived and because the truck was too small I had to get rid of a bunch of my stuff and it took 2 days because of the extra time it took to load a smaller truck. Daniels moving took advantage of me and I would definitely NOT recommend them. The owner doesn't respect his customers.

I wouldn't let them pack my groceries! Our family moved from FL to VT and between my wife, my brother and myself, we packed a 28' trailer full and everything arrived with no damaged items. We hired Daniel's Moving/NEMM to pack two 28' trailers and in the end, they caused an estimated $4k-$6k worth of damages to our belongings. It's "estimated" because we've yet to receive the final invoice for some of our belongings that are being repaired. In all, the Daniel's Moving/NEMM crew showed up to our house... We told the crew that we rented two 28' trailers and even though we were renting them by the foot, that we had no problem with them using every inch of both trailers, as long as our belongings were safe. They loaded boxes with RED arrows pointing up, upside down. Boxes with 4-6 "FRAGILE" stickers on them were packed on the bottom of stacks with boxes marked "HEAVY" on top. They packed things that we asked them repeatedly NOT to pack. A box with my Mother's ashes in it, along with her fragile electronics (iPhone and MacBook) was loaded upside down and at the bottom of a heavy stack. One crew member injured himself by accepting a bet of another crew member to lift ALL of my wife's weights at the same time, the owner (Fred Allard) called me asking why one of his guys was at the ER and then said that if my wife and I didn't write out statements, that we/our insurance could be liable. After all of this, Fred Allard told us that because we didn't hire them to drive our belongings to next destination, that they are not liable. When I requested that he just file the claim with insurance, he told me that it could take up to 6 months and that it would likely be denied. After a month, I reached out for an update and was told that he had been busy with personal things and that he would file it. A week later we asked for the claim number and that's when he began ignoring us and we haven't heard from him since.

They did a great job, put my hutch together perfectly and were patient with me as I changed my mind about where I wanted it! All the furniture arrived in the same condition as when they picked it up. The whole thing went very smoothly. They were wearing masks & also protected my floors with covering they brought & put down. My daughter had the same things to say when they got to Vermont. He asked to right some wrongs, explained why certain things happened the way they did and offered to review the home again and write the estimate over. Patrick and Susan came back to the house and completed the evaluation and wrote the quote, both done as they should have been and came in quite competitively with the other movers that offered us a quote. That left us with a dilemma; go with Personal Movers because they were very good about reworking our estimate or go with another mover who did things correctly the first time. In the end, we went with our gut. The estimates were nearly identical, but the fact that we had had trouble initially gave us pause. We went with the other mover. I changed my review to a three because Patrick did try to make it right and in all fairness had not performed the move yet. This company seems like one that is open to righting wrongs, and willing to put a more senior person on the job if you aren't satisfied. I do appreciate that. 04/23/2015 I called Personal Movers and spoke with Susan Ward about having someone come out to review my home for packing and shipping to another state. Susan visited and toured my home. She said that she would provide me a quote via email as soon as possible. I had received quotes from three other companies in under three days so I expected the same from Susan. After waiting two weeks, I had to call Susan twice to ask for her quote. When Susan finally sent me the quote, not only was it considerable higher than each of the other movers but the information included was inaccurate. For instance, the quote included charges for the shipment of 3 K/Q beds - I have 1. The quote included a total of 7 beds of various sizes. I have 1K and two twin size beds. This website here on Yelp states that they give discounts for AAA members and senior citizens. I am both and neither was ever mentioned to me. I don't use the internet much so I was unaware of this until after I received the quote and my daughter pointed out that they didn't include a discount. Given that I practically had to beg THEM for their business, I would not recommend Personal Movers and will not be using them myself. If this is not typical of their business then perhaps Susan Ward is the problem. I cannot reconcile a moving business treating a potential customer as though they are inconveniencing them by requesting to use them to move. I can't even imagine what the actual service might have been and the customer service response about a problem would be.
