My employer changed insurance carriers and my Dr did not accept my new insurance. So the search began for a new Dr & being extremely picky and somewhat of a hypochondriac who has a need to Google everything, I needed to find someone who understood me. I bounced around a bit & I was never happy, that is until I met Dr. Alexandra Santini, M.D., FAAFM who is with the Personal Physician Care group. Not only does she accept my insurance but I feel she understood me; without thinking I needed to be baker acted with my obsession with Googling every symptom I have & then of course thinking I had some rare medical condition. The state of the art facility features in-house lab work, digital x-rays, EKG and echocardiograms. I had an EKG and it was so nice having it done right there in the office. I'm going back for lab work & the lab is just one door over. I love the convenience of having everything in one office. I didn't indulge, but there is a Keurig coffee maker in the waiting room & I overheard someone saying they have tea k-cups too. I found Dr Santini to be kind, caring and warm. Dr Santini also has a great personality and she made me feel very comfortable. It feels so good to have a new primary who I feel comfortable with. Checkout their website: www.ppcare.net. You can make appointments, take a virtual tour and read each provider's bio. There is also a patient portal where you can set up an account and access your records online. The office is on the south side of Linton Blvd just a few feet east from the intersection of Linton and Military Trail. Poppy's is next door if your looking to grab a bite after your appointment. The receptionist was very helpful with my insurance, the nurse taking my vitals was friendly & making an appointment was easy because they actually answer the phone. The patient checkout person was relaxed and very friendly. She was juggling a few things at once yet she remained calm and always had a smile on her face. A real smile, not a fake one and I can tell. The beautiful thing about this office are the people who run it. Every person I encountered was warm and caring.

I have several major disabilities. I am an extremely respectful person, and Im not a complainer, but I will voice my opinion if I'm wrongfully disrespectEd. I caught Covid at the end of December. I had a fever for a couple of weeks (among some other symptom). The second day after I got the virus, I was in line for two hours at MD Now (Urgent Care) getting tested. After a week of having a fever I called Dr Santinis office and left a message with the Pa. After three days, ( on a Friday) the PA called me back to tell me that Dr Santini hasn't replied to my message yet. So I made a virtual doctors appointment. At the time of the appointment she telephoned me which in the past she made it a big deal to use virtual FaceTime through a physicians network. I explained to her what I had and testing positive and a controlled pain medication I've been on for many years not really keeping my fever at bay. She then blew up, and demanded to know who gave me that medication. She got very hostile. Then she said "Oh, I see your very heavy." (I am what I am, it's hard to lose weight when you can't move around very much, besides what does that even have to do with anything)? Then she said, if you feel you need an xray or anything else go to MD Now and get it, don't come here. And besides, it seems like your on the mend. She was making insults and she didn't even read my chart to see who I was, and why I take a lot of medications. I've been to her seven times, and each time I ask for a refill on my medication, it's like pulling teeth. Needless to say, I am switching to a different group of Doctors. Even if she was having a bad day, shouldn't you look into a patients chart before making accusations? I see the PPC business office reads these, but they seem to only reply to the positive reviews. Ive been with you for 15 years. Would be nice to get a response!!!

My final appointment was the reason I decided to change doctors. After waiting about 30 minutes, I was called in only to be asked why I was there, as if she had not reviewed my medical record. When I told her it was time for my annual physical, she said she did not have enough time to do it. I reminded her that I had already been waiting for about 30 minutes, but she replied that it had only been 25 minutes and told me to come back the following month. I also asked if she could order my blood work in advance so we could discuss the results at my next visit, but she refused and said she would only order it when I came back for the physical. Throughout my visits, I often felt unheard. She frequently interrupted me before I could finish explaining my concerns and gave me the impression that she was not truly listening. I never felt that my time or my health concerns were a priority. To be clear, my comments are directed solely at the physician. The nursing staff and the front desk team were always kind, courteous, and professional, and I have nothing but positive things to say about them.

However, they have been under new management for a couple of months. All the previous providers have left the practice. I was never notified that my provider left the practice. In fact, photographs of my former provider and others are still on the webpage, so how was I to know they left? I never received a phone call or a letter in the mail. I found out about this recently when my insurance request requested a prior authorization. I went to their new website, and my provider wasn't listed. So I called to ask about this. The first time I called and the phone rang forever with no one picking up the phone. When I was finally able to get through, a young lady answered the phone. I told her about my situation with the prior authorization and she told me that my provider was no longer there. I was told that I had to come in and see a new provider and when I asked why , I was told have a nice day and then hung up on. I wasn't rude; I just had questions, like who my new provider is and why they need me to come in, since I just had an exam two months earlier. And I don't know why, but they called me back 10 minutes later and said they suddenly had an appointment for me the next morning. So I came in to see what was going on. My new provider was very young and I'm not sure how much experience they had. While they were nice, she informed me of the new policies. For example, they began charging for blood draws in the office that had previously been free. It was $35, and now it's down to $15; otherwise, I have to go to another location to have my blood drawn. They put an order for me to have my blood work drawn, even though I just had it drawn 6 to 8 weeks. I asked for a prior authorization which I was told they would do, but after two weeks, I went to my pharmacy and they said they never received one. The front desk used to be helpful, but recently when I went in, everybody was sitting around in a circle talking to each other, pretty much ignoring that I was there. This used to be a very warm, friendly practice that put the patient's needs first. Now, it seems this new management is very business-oriented, looking for ways to make more money at the expense of providing good customer service and focusing on my healthcare needs. I am now leaving this practice, which makes me sad. I feel very sorry for older people who go there. They probably don't know who their provider is anymore and will have to start over with a new provider from the beginning. It's hard to find a good medical practice for your routine healthcare these days, especially in Boca Raton, where everybody is moving towards concierge service. I wouldn't be surprised if this place goes out of business in the next year.

Dr Bruzzo herself told my husband and I back at the end of 2011 that she was no longer accepting…read moreinsurance as of 2012 and was going VIP Concierge only and it was $1500 a year. Her reason for this was she was going from 3000 patients down to 300 patients (this number could have been 4000 down to 400, I honestly am not sure whether it was 3000 to 300 or 4000 to 400 but it was one of those) to be able to give the level of care she wanted to. We have been doing that since 2012 because we liked her, we liked the idea, and we thought it would be wonderful. No more waiting, get in an out of the Doctors office etc. Great concept. I used to have Humana and Dr. Bruzzo did not bill my insurance company at all from 2012-2014 , at which point I had a $10,000 deductible, which she was aware of. In 2015 my husband got a new job and we now have new insurance company with a significantly lower deductible. When I went to see her in March 2015 she charged my credit card for the 1/2 year concierge fee of $750.00 AND billed my insurance company as well, which BCBS paid her. I called and asked the office manager at Dr. Bruzzo's to credit my VISA since she is now accepting insurance, she replied "We do not accept insurance honey, we only billed them to help you make your deductible" the office manager even stated this on a recorded phone call with Visa. Then on a separate recorded phone call that Visa had made on my behalf to Dr. Bruzzo since they would not refund my money, Dr. Bruzzo stated that the money I paid to her is specifically for a VIP Concierge service only, and that they do in fact accept insurance for office visits. If you google definition of "Concierge medicine" it clearly states that it a fee paid to the doctor for services. And the Dr Bruzzo website clearly states they are doing concierge only. Why on earth would anyone want to pay $1500 a year if they are accepting insurance? Mine and my husbands visits have always been over an hour wait. Except for the very first visit in 2012 when she switched to this new "Concierge" plan. But we were waiting over an hour ?? Does not sound very VIP-ish to me. I had to call and dispute through Visa (I only got a partial refund as Dr. Bruzzo stated this was a yearly fee and I owed her for the 1st quarter : during which I did not call or see her during this 1st quarter) After my insurance payed her, and I payed her, she sent my husband a text that I would have to find a new DR quickly because she was canceling my prescriptions for my Thyroid medication and blood pressure medication. So after essentially paying her twice for a single visit, I still had to go to another DR to do another physical so I could get my thyroid and blood pressure meds. Dr. Bruzzo then tried to say that it is common practice if you leave a Dr office that they cancel any prescriptions they wrote out. Well if you are going to cancel the prescription that you just wrote out for a 6 months supply during the office visit that she got paid for twice, she should return the money for the office visit to myself and BCBS. This is blood pressure and thyroid meds. Not oxycotton we are talking about here. By billing the insurance company on top of me paying her for concierge is 100% unethical in my opinion and the reason I left her practice. Even her own website states she converted to "concierge medicine" therefor she should have never billed BCBS. I am glad I no longer have to be called "honey" whenever I have to deal with the office staff.

I was told it was an in person appt. She ran very late for my appt without anyone telling me how much longer I should expect to wait. I think she was nearly an hour past my appt before I saw her. Went over results. Came up with a plan. She disappeared in her office for long stretches of time while you're in the exam room. I did everything we talked about and got another round of tests a 2 months later. I've now learner nothing much changes in 2 months and the second round of blood tests should have been a few more months later. Had the second round of test. I got all my results from Quest Diagonsits and needed things explained to me. I called and texted with the office multiple times to have a follow up appt. At first who ever was on the texts was quick to reply. They then disappeared and I never got a call back from my multiple messages left on the office line. I will not be going back. I shouldn't have to work so hard to have my primary doctor review tests results with me. Can not recommend Dr. Weiss.
