One of the best quality sushi I ever had, the fish was so fresh. They are extremely unique with their flavors. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy. Servers are friendly and their service is pretty quick. Highly recommended
The santo tiradito is a great dish with fresh hamachi and yuzu flavors. Their Devil roll also tasted very clean with a nice spicy crunch from the jalepeno. The 5 nigiri set was unimpressive, not bad but it wasn't anything special, but it was the most expensive out of the three dishes we ordered. The staff were definitely efficient, as we got seated right away on a Saturday night. There's great mood lighting inside and breezy outdoor seating too. I appreciate how often workers tended to the outdoor tables too.
Santo is a cute Mexican sushi fusion spot in Silverlake with a unique take on the classics. My roll was traditional but topped with a ton of cilantro, making it really appealing. I also had the 10 piece set, which unfortunately comes with one avocado piece and one mushroom piece. They should nix those and add more fish. Honestly, I didn't love 5/10 pieces. The choco nigiri was an experience and def worth a try. The wagyu flame handroll was pretty cool too, although I didn't taste it. Service was mid. Everyone was beyond nice but I had to prompt them for everything. I still recommend trying Santo because of the unique experience. I've been to many sushi places and I like what they are doing. The fusion twist here is very LA in the best way. I hope the set gets more bold to showcase what this place is really made of.
I love Santo and the service y'all... sweetest staff!! Sissy that works there is always the best!! love her. Missy was great last night she's new and amazing. the food was so fresh and flavorful and i tried a mochi dessert for the first time and it was so good, wow!! the vibes here are very community friendly and everyone ends up outside talking and a great place to meet new friends.
This place is knocking it out of the park. I would give Santo 4.5 stars. The sushi is incredible with flavor profiles you don't get from other sushi restaurants. That Mexico City influence is on point! After a couple of bites my friend and I knew this would fast become a go to sushi spot for us. Love the location along Sunset in Silver Lake. Our server was super nice, he was a little hard to find at times but that's because of the sidewalk seating which is the little social scene outside. Where you normally get the more formal sushi service experience which is very attentive, Santo servers are definitely younger and a little laid back giving it that hipster vibe which I'm sure is why they attract the younger crowd outside.
Absolute perfection!! This restaurant is fairly small but packs a powerful punch when it comes to their menu. They have sushi bar seating, a couple of window seats, and outdoor seating as well. We had a late afternoon reservation, but walk-ins are also welcome. I started with the Little Sumo sake and ordered seven different nigiri, each with its own distinct flavor. The staff was super friendly and the vibe felt very refreshing. Can't wait to visit again and try more items!
Super cute sushi spot in Silverlake! Parking is difficult as usual but this place is worth the trouble. We got our starter, the rockshrimp, last for some reason but it was worth the wait. It has a nice kick to it. The nigiri sets are a great way to try different nigiri without committing to one. The seared o'toro was good but I probably won't be ordering it again. I liked that it was seared but didn't like that one side was warm and the other side was cold when I ate it.
i loved sitting inside at the bar area. some of the standouts for me were the chutoro tostada (1 order came with 2), the spicy salmon crispy rice and the hand rolls (spicy tuna and shrimp tempura). i wasn't a fan of the two nigiri's we tried and the san-shake roll but the other dishes were really good. i'd skip the santo brulee for dessert. there was nearby street parking available.
I always pass by this spot in Silverlake and finally decided to give it a try. They have both bar seating and tables, and we chose to sit outside to enjoy the nice night. This spot serves sushi with some Mexican inspired flavors, which sounded interesting. Here's what I ordered: Nigiri: Hamachi Choco, Akami , Chu Toro , Otoro , Flame Seared Uni , Salmon Yuzu Other items: Unagi Handroll Chu Toro Tostada Hamachi Santo Tiradito Sashimi I have to say I actually enjoyed every piece. Everything tasted super fresh and the seasoning and style made each bite delicious. My favorites were anything toro, the flame seared uni was amazing, the Hamachi Choco sushi was fire, and the hamachi tiradito sashimi was so good we ordered it three times. Overall, a pretty solid sushi spot in Silverlake. It is on the pricey side, not gonna lie, but the quality was there. I'd come back, just probably not in a rush. More of a treat yourself kind of spot.
I have been wanting to come here for a long time now. We booked a reservation for 3 as we were taking our daughter to a show at Pantages. I was very excited. When we booked we assumed it was for inside, omakase. When we arrived the hostess was not welcoming. We had a 5 pm reservation and they open at 5, so we didn't mind waiting but she seemed bothered that we arrived on time. Anyways, we got sat outside on the sidewalk. When my husband asked about sitting inside she responded that, they were booked and if we sat inside it'll give us only 30 minutes to eat. Weird. We weren't given the option when booking, had we known. While sitting outside we tried to make the best of it. Another server came out to give us menus and take our drink order, again, not friendly. The only person that was somewhat welcoming was the man that came to grab our empty dishes. While sitting outside there were many workers from the restaurants next door standing outside as well as our server and they were chit chatting. One of the workers started smoking, 2 tables away from us. The wind was blowing our way so my 10 yr old and I were inhaling the smoke. Heavy walking traffic on the sidewalk and mostly people with pets. I love animals, and I don't mind people smoking. But not while I'm eating. The vibe was so off, almost like the employees were bothered that they had to work. Customer service needs a refresher. Usually I bypass and try and enjoy the food. The food was good, nothing to rave about. Maybe sitting inside is a different experience, don't know. Will not be booking again to find out. I crossed this place off my bucket list, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. Overall the mood and service wasn't the greatest.
Santo Silverlake is the 2nd outpost of acclaimed original Santo Mexico City, which is truly a unique, visionary dining concept. This Japanese Mexican fusion restaurant on Sunset is simultaneously cozy, sexy, and sophisticated. The seating is intimate and as such, perfect for date night or catching up with a friend or two. In addition to indoor sushi bar seating, there is also a bit of outdoor seating, which makes for a good people watching experience. On to the food. What we ordered for the table: 1. Hamachi choco nigiri - their signature nigiri which consists of seared yellowtail topped with Oaxacan chocolate and salt. A very memorable and unique offering, and I recommend everybody to try this at least once while at Santo. 2. Uni nigiri - fantastic uni which was both buttery and sweet. 3. ikura nigiri - I'm just a sucker for ikura and will order it at every opportunity. Fantastic ikura quality. 4. Unagi nigiri - I love my eel. 5. Soft shell crab - perfect. 6. Salmon nigiri - a classic. 7. Otoro bowl - love fresh fatty tuna. Delicious little bowl. 8. Spicy tuna roll - my +1 isn't as fond of nigiri and sashimi as I am, so we indulged in a few rolls as well. All of them were excellent. 9. Daruma roll 10. San shake roll 11. Matcha brûlée - not quite what we expected, as under the perfectly seared brulee, there was a rice pudding filling. This is a solidly executed desert in its own right, but perhaps not my favorite. 12. A Junmai sake for the table. We were fortunate enough to find metered street parking immediately outside, but there should be free residential parking a couple blocks' walk from the restaurant as well. Service was courteous and prompt.
You definitely want to get a reservation here! A very small and intimate space to eat some absolutely mouth watering food. We sat outside and were bumping backs with the guests at the table behind us but it was well worth it. Our server was great to talk with, gave us great recommendations and really took care of us. If you're feeling adventurous I HIGHLY recommend getting the hamachi choco. Our server described it to us like you're eating a store sushi and it's literally that! The hamachi melts in your mouth giving it a buttery taste and the charred cocoa powder on top gives it the nice smoky flavor. If you do get this, I recommend getting it towards the end of your meal as the taste does linger for a while.
Restaurant wasn't busy coz we went right when they opened. Host was friendly & welcoming... and let us pick our seat. He also took our orders and food came out quickly and fresh. We enjoyed everything we ordered.
Santo was amazing! The fusion flavors were really excellent and stand out so much and are so memorable as a result! The service was excellent and seated us immediately when we checked in with our reservation. We ordered and they answered many questions we had and gave many great recommendations. The appetizers (tostada, crispy rice) were all great; the salmon sashimi was so fresh and delicious; the sushi quality was excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed my san-shake roll. I can see why this place is always packed when we walk or drive by, and I hope to come back and try this place again! read more
Food 100/10 Service 100/10 Ambiance 10/10 I cannot believe im saying this because I definitely have my top 3 favorite sushi spots but I'm going to have to change up the order because Santō is officially my top 1 now. We made reservations for 9 but arrived 15 minutes early and luckily 2 people had just left so we were seated immediately. We were welcomed by Missy as she helped us order food for which was supposed to be for 2 people but the food was so good we ate for about like 4 people and don't regret a second of it. Before I continue I just want to put it out there that Missy had exceptional customer service skills and she was so funny and super attentive and so nice, I almost wanted to hug her before we left lol. We started with edamame and spicy tuna on crispy rice and immediately after that I knew we were about to eat some bomb sushi, and sure enough walked in happy and left ecstatic because we're coming back this week for round 2. Fish was INSANE quality, sashimi was literal butter, the rolls were out of this world. For someone who orders extra sauce for once I didn't have to use extra ponzu or spicy mayo because everything is just so flavorful. Thank you SANTŌ you can take all my money any day! Saw an IG reel of this place and it hooked me in. Happy to say that it did in fact live up to the hype, with the tostada as the stand out dish of the day. Very small & limited seating so would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. read more

This place was AMAZING! Enjoyed an early weeknight dinner with a girlfriend and we got to try a whole bottle of Californian sake. Tried the tuna crispy rice, hamachi hand roll that comes with a truffle dipping sauce, and salmon hand roll-salmon skin + roe in each bite. Also each got the wagyu nigiri that melts in your mouth as dessert. The space is small so it's nice to sit at the bar and get served there. Make sure to reserve on the website or resy to get a seat inside! read more
Wow! By far one of my favorite places in LA to get sushi! There is outdoor seating and the sushi bar! Definitely recommend coming for lunch! The chef really does a great job of bringing out all the flavors as listed! Definitely get this seared Toro! As it was one of my favorite! I was visiting the area and while walking around Silverlake, I stumbled upon this sushi restaurant. Inside the decor felt modern, with intimate seating around the sushi bar. A standout for me was the tostada, it really brought out that Mexican fusion flavor which felt unique for a sushi restaurant. Then, the nigiri was also really good. The cut of fish was really fresh and high quality, each topped with amazing flavor that you don't always get at sushi bars. Everything came out super quickly which was nice! read more
Came here last night for dinner and it was delicious, everything we ordered was great. We sat outside , for sure small sushi bar seating and a couple bar style seats inside so we opted for outside it's a busy area so lots of people on the street where the outside seating is but we enjoyed it. Service was friendly and fast. Would come again. read more

Everything was really really good. The atmosphere is a lot of fun. They have outdoor seating, which is cool. It's quaint inside the service was very fast and the ambience was just a cool vibe. Definitely great for a date night or just a nice warm summer day to go out and enjoy some sushi. read more
Cute hipster spot in Silverlake with a sushi bar and sidewalk seating. Service was fine. The dishes were good, but it didn't stand out enough for me to want to come back, esp from West Hollywood with there being so many sushi spots already around me. Also, I am not sure if it's just me, but their soy sauce was particularly salty. read more
Overall, I had a pretty good experience at Santō. I love the fusion of Mexican and Japanese cuisine, and it's also cool that they have a sister restaurant in CDMX. As for the food, there were a few exceptional dishes, while others were just okay. The portions are very small, especially considering the prices, which are quite high. The service, however, was wonderful--our server was excellent, very attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Only got a few pictures of some of the items we ordered. Here is wha we got: Santō broccoli - fantastic! You must get this--the broccoli is light and crispy. So happy to see an alternative to Brussels sprouts. Chu toro tostada - pretty good, wouldn't say it's amazing, but it was solid. You get two per order. Miso soup - very good! Otoro special nigiri - amazing, the flavors were incredible Buttery salmon nigiri - just ok not my favorite Hamachi choco nigiri - unfortunately did NOT like this one Santō brûlée - delicious! The matcha flavor is not overpowering, BUT it is the tiniest portion for $15 which was disappointing. We also ordered a few rolls but they weren't particularly memorable. Interesting place to checkout. Give it a go if you want to try something fun and different. read more
Good quality sushi with a touch of Mexican flavors. Went for dinner during the weekend. Street parking is hit or miss, but is your best bet. Modern, minimalist sushi bar vibes inside - like many sushi restaurants nowadays. Was sat and served right away. Ordered some sashimi, hand rolls, and a few different nigiri pieces. Was all very delicious - lots small touches to make the pieces unique and flavorful - yuzu, chocolate, and certain peppers. A good experience and would recommend for a date night! read more
We made a reservation a few weeks in advance through Resy for a Friday night, and the bar was packed. The food came out impressively fast, and watching the sushi chef prepare each dish added to the experience. Our favorites were the seared o'toro, hamachi choco and the toro tostada. The experience and food was amazing and we would come back again. read more
What a cute spot in Silverlake! It's a cozy, dimly lit sushi restaurant with bar and counter seating. They serve Mexican-inspired sushi, with another location in Mexico City. We got the tuna tostadas to start, which were fresh and so well-seasoned. The spicy tuna and Tzurai Hono rolls were tasty as well. For drinks, the Sawtelle Spritz and margarita were amazing! Very delicious rolls! I've officially fallen in love with their special toasted choco flavor of nigiri. We sat on the patio on the streets of Silverlake, which was a very nice vibe. We got there when they opened, and it quickly filled up so I recommend getting a reservation. Ultimately, I felt like their food was unnecessarily pricey compared to other local options, but it's a great sushi option for LA! read more

Wow!! I've had sushi all my life as a Korean-American and I can't believe I actually found a sushi joint that surpassed every other sushi place I've ever been to in every aspect! A good friend of mine suggested it as she knew Aldo - Head Sushi Chef. I honestly didn't expect much as so many sushi places pop up claiming they're different or that they have the freshest fish or yada yada yada. The presentation is very simple yet so inviting. The sushi is perfectly sized so that even I, with a small mouth, can take in 1 piece of sushi or roll in one bite! I've ALWAYS had to bite off 1/2 a sushi or roll as it's usually too big. The first bite was pure heaven - buttery & fresh - as it melted in my mouth, with every set thereafter even better. It wasn't until halfway through dinner that I realized I hadn't dipped a single piece into my usual soy sauce and wasabi mix. In fact I hadn't even prepared my mix! I've NEVER EVER had sushi without the soy/wasabi mix! I was literally shocked. This is genuine proof how flavorful and fresh everything was. Every dish had its own unique taste unlike so many other places where they all end up tasting the same. Unfortunately the dining experience got cheapened by having to sit next to cars driving by on the road, smelling car exhaust and hearing car sirens. Before we even got to taste the food, we were immediately let down by this seating. To Santō: Please consider eliminating this seating for safety reasons!! Update: after speaking to the manager, we were promptly moved inside and were given a free appetizer. The interior was perfectly moody and intimate. Great for a date/catch up with friends. The food was delicious so, at the end, we were glad we came. read more

Santo was actually very disappointing for the cost. We were seated outside, which was fine. When i went inside, the ambience/interior decor was superb. Definitely has a outstanding upscale feel. However that's all they had going on. When food came out, nothing really stood out. There are dozens and dozens of sushi restaurants all around that will give you similar quality for a fraction of the price. Their price is definitely fine dining status - especially for the nigiri sets, but it simply doesn't live up to that level of standard. Would avoid. read more

I will definitely be going back here. I do wish they had better handroll options or even a handroll set option. The fish was fresh and flavorful and the woman who helped us was informative and friendly. We sat outdoors, so maybe sitting indoors would have a better ambiance, but it was a cool evening so it was still nice. read more
One of our favorite restaurants we've been to in LA. We love sushi & this place lived up to the high expectations we had. We had a reservation and sat at the sushi bar. Seating is a bit tight but this is a super small place. We enjoyed being able to watch the chefs do their thing. Drink and wine menu was thoughtful and had many great options. We ordered a ton of food (really wanted to try a lot of their options). The crispy rice with tuna was insane. And we ordered nearly all of the nigiri options. There wasn't one option we didn't like. The hamachi choco was a stellar ending as it's true as other people have said, that it eats like a s'mores. We loved the Japanese style with Mexican influences throughout the menu. Also had the Wagyu hand rolls and they were delicious. Even the ube ice cream we had for dessert was so tasty. Service was great even though they were busy. Everyone was so cool and friendly. Can't recommend this place enough and we will no doubt go here anytime we are in town. read more
