    Sashimi Soecial

First time here for lunch with my daughter. It was recommended by one of here friends and it did not disappoint. I ordered the sashimi lunch special and my daughter the nigiri special. Both were great. I also ordered an uni and amaebi nigiri. Everything was fresh and delicious, The atmosphere and service were also great. They only have eight- two tops and a small bar so reservations are necessary during busy times,

This is a true hidden gem. We have been enjoying the amazing food at Kenbey Sushi for a good 3 years now and it never disappoints. The sushi and sashimi are outstanding, made with high quality and extremely fresh fish, the palette is delicate yet flavorful. Please see the menu photos for the selection offered. I forgot to take a pic of the beverage offerings but they are also plentiful - good quality sakes, Japanese beer, teas, etc. I will also need to update with sashimi dishes, as they were devoured before I got to take my phone out. Kenbey Sushi is located in an unassuming strip mall in Los Feliz, but the food is outstanding, the jazz music works perfectly in the minimalist environment, and the service is great. If you appreciate quality Japanese food, you won't be disappointed.

Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes. Where some easily go simple with their tuna mix, Kenbey has something better.

If you want a great sushi experience Kenbey is your place to go on this side of town. Chefs provided a great selection of nigiri already dressed no soy sauce needed. Aside from their offered set, I could not forget to have a Toro-Taku Handroll (Tuna & Pickled Radish) and an order of Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes.Another standout dish was some sea bass with an topping I was not sure of, not yuzu kosho, maybe a mustard. Enjoy the warm atmosphere and chill music. Friendly Chefs & servers ready to please.

We really enjoyed our dining experience at Kenbey. The sushi is fresh and you can tell the chef cares about each piece he serves. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of 3 things. The first is that I didn't like the sauce that came on the hirame and the sauce on the albacore with the slice of garlic. Second, we tried the Hokkaido uni, it was a very dark orange (so not the freshest - we should have gone with the Santa Barbara uni) and so bland and flavorless. Third, for the prices they could add some decoration. I would still recommend trying Kenbey. The service was excellent and overall pretty good!

I loved everything we tried from Kenbey- the sushi selection was interesting and the cuts tasted very fresh. The fried chicken was also delicious. The sake list is also a little more expensive than what you might normally pay, however the bottles are well curated and you won't be disappointed. I'd recommend Kenbey for a special night out with friends or a loved one!

We made a reservation ahead of time as that's the only way you'll be able to reserve omakase seating at the bar. We came to celebrate a birthday with family and got the wagyu omakase for everyone. Overall dining experience was nice it was 3 hours long just as a note, so plan for a long meal. It is a smaller restaurant so not recommended for large large parties. Overall food was tasty and was cool to watch the chef prepare the meals in front of us. Only thing was that it was pretty long and look a while between entrees since it was only one chef doing all the meal prep for the entire restaurant. If you've never have omakase, I would recommend giving this place a try for that specifically. But make a reservation and plan to spend $$$. Staff - 10/10 super friendly and polite, the sushi chef also told us what each item they were serving Parking - it is located in a smaller plaza so you can park anywhere in there and it's free Bathroom - yes they have one Noise level - depends, cause it was quite when we arrived and some small groups, but as the meal prolonged it got loud because some parties were quite drunk and talking very loudly

Relatively new to the Los Angeles sushi scene, Kenbey Sushi has been open for almost 6 months. I forgot how I heard about it, but I'm happy I did. This spot definitely leans towards the traditional side, so don't come here expecting extravagant "Americanized" sushi rolls. I doubt you'll find anything like it on the menu. That said, lovers of traditional nigiri should find this place very enjoyable. Our party of four arrived around 5:30pm to a relatively empty restaurant. The sushi bar was all reserved for later bookings, however, so we had to sit at one of their tables. We ordered mostly off the nigiri list. I sampled Red Snapper, Kohada (Gizzard Shad), Iwashi (Sardine), Bluefin Tuna, and a Tuna Cut Roll. Overall, I thought everything was great! I wouldn't say this is the best sushi bar in Los Angeles, but it's definitely worth checking out. Service was friendly, and prices were appropriate. With their Omakase priced at $150, I am very tempted to come back soon. I'm curious to see what else Kenbey has to offer!

    Lamb was amazing

Small place, simple and unassuming looking, hard to see it if you're not familiar with the area but the service is good and the food is super fresh and delicious. Each sushi topping was very fresh and the temperature of the sushi rice was perfect. We also tried the lamb and it was delicious. I usually not a fan of eating lamb but this place knows how to make it right, good aroma, nice flavor and so soft that it melts in your mouth. They also have a nice selection of Japanese Sake and Japanese beer. I'm surprise not many people seem to know about Sushi Kenbey because there are not many reviews in yelp. I guess someone must to have missed the memo in yelp because this place is better than many well known brands nearby out there, it's definitely a must try!

A neighborhood haven for the most authentic nigiri in LA. The medium blue fin toro is perfect, so tender and flavorful.

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

When I made reservations on the phone I asked about the latest reservation and confirmed 10 pm - however I asked if I could sit at the bar and they said not at that time since they closed at 11. When we arrived, there was a couple coming in at 10 and sat at bar...maybe just miscommunication but tha could have prevented us from consuming our food quick and skipping on alcohol since the table we got was not the best. Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.

A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience.
