The newer building has great amenities like a full basketball court gym and many different rooms for kids to quietly study, watch movies or do crafts. Unlike Project SAFE there's plenty of air conditioned building space where my kids don't spend the summers outside drenched in sweat. The yearly membership charge is nominal and they work with the Santee school district to offer bus transportation from school (at a cost directly from the district). There is a bit of 'you get what you pay for' with thin offerings of administration and old school paper enrollment. YMCA and Project SAFE charge thousands of more per year for similar after school and summer school programs so I'm fine with the trade-off. Regardless, my kids really like the staff, their time there and are excited to go after school. The Boys and Girls Club of Santee hold the safety of the kids paramount with their policies and practice.

The campus is clean almost all of the time. The teachers actually want to help you, and help you into great college. However, the only downside to this school is the racism. Most of the students are white. The counselors do not help you, and the office staff do not care about any situation you are in. This addition is a well-needed, state of the art events and physical education building, long overdue for the students and faculty. This building boasts over 21,000 square feet that brings together the performing arts and physical education. This connection is developed through the Hall of Fame, which physically connects the two groups. In addition to showcasing the School's rich heritage, the Hall of Fame area acts as a meeting space during events. The project also includes boys and girls locker room, coaches' offices, sports team rooms, restrooms and showers, wrestling rooms, dance room, trainer's room, and multi-use event space with telescoping theatre seating. It was incredibly endearing to see current and former staff taking pride in their campus' accomplishment, honoring the fact that they will be Sultans forever. Like most, I remember my former high school well. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Santana is my alma mater (class of 2002) and the place where I met my husband, Brandon. He had also been inappropriate how he talks in class he has a wife and he would actively say how he wishes he could talk to a cutie. Or when another student like Kayla would be on her phone looking at shirtless Korean boys or looking at her game Jason would say how he wished he has a lust avatar. He had took a inappropriate picture of me in a class group and my swim suit was revealing. He purposely walks up to me in his class or whether I am sitting outside he will rub my upper back purposely. I had reported this to a teacher Kristen and she said "Jason is just saying what Kayla wants to hear he doesn't upset her." The last time I reported Kayla a student in transition was when I was over summer break. During the semsters with Kayla she had showed me a viedo of a meme of a person saying the "n word in repeat." She apologized and turned it down instead of removing the viedo. Kayla had been comparing any boy that wears girl clothing or makeup immediately amusing their Transgender. She had also bother another student and comparing him to being a Transgender. One time she said out loud for everyone to hear that every Transgender is a girl. When I had reported it to Jason. He got upset me saying that is should be a free topic to share and I was being controlled. After I had told Jason that she didn't respect my me being Transgender and that she is actively being transphoic. Kayla has always insulted my natural hair comparing it to another black staff. She even has said everyone to hear and see that Kayla been reaching over and yelling out how she would rip my wig my protective hairstyle in front of everyone. And called my braids wigs. Staffs has been racist to me. Staffs would come up and touch my braids. And ask if it hurt? Or did it feel heavy. Or was it real. And say that their daughters or kids would get braids when braids have a culture and history and make my hair into some trend over than respecting my hair choices. A staff Banaz and Darlne had came up to me after I had only mixed their names up to say that "Is it because we are white?" Banaz saw how uncomfortable and offended I was and she did nothing to apologize she laughed it off and sid she was joking. Jason has always sabotage my report with Kayla he said "Well you can't go the principal because they are busy with other students and the principal is going to come down here and I am not going to know what to tell the principal!" I've though if I did reported they would only be talking to me. So I told Jason and Kirsten what happened and instead of reporting it like normal people they continued to let Kayla get away with being a bully to me at transition. It took many tries until she was finally reported by the vice principal. When I even had a chance to go to the vice principal at all. Jason has pulled the vice principal away from me to talk to him when it was my personal business and he decided to butt in. And this goes for Kaylas speech teacher and he didn't tell the full truth so I had to bring my dad in and explain what really happened because Jason had tried to lie about what happened. And tried to butt in me and Kaylas personal lives and what has been going on. The staffs don't take this seriously. When I tell them about trauma at home they would dismiss me and say it's part of life. And that it was normal. They would even gossip about what happened between me and Kayla instead of reporting it. They would talk about their personal lives and be on their phones or gossip with other staffs instead of taking care of us or helping us. A teacher Kirsten has actively ignored me a bunch of times when I had told her I kept blocking out and I struggled to walk in her class and she shurgged and said "I am sorry that is happening to you but you're an adult now you have to figure out yourself."

The best is they have mini bathrooms for the kids. the toilets are lower to the ground, and they teach potty training. The teachers are super friendly and take the time to understand your child's needs. Whats even better... they take care of all snacks and meals for you. its part of the program!! Yes no more trying to figure out each day what my little one is going to eat. The price is reasonable and worth the wait list to get into the school. This school is a gem. The teachers here genuinely care about their students and go above and…read morebeyond their duties. In the younger grades especially, there was so much creativity from the classroom layout to the activities themselves that I have never seen in any other school. The children in both general education and special education classrooms are given the attention and encouragement they need to achieve to the best of their abilities, and the school makes a strong point of, even in the elementary grades, reinforcing the idea that the kids there are all college-bound and headed for success. As an aside, on the first day when I arrived and saw all of the pep rallies, the pets in the classrooms, and one class who had gone on a fieldtrip to Legoland that day I thought, Wow, if I were a kid, I'd want to go here! After 5 months of close interaction with the students and teachers "behind the scenes," my opinion on that, both personally and professionally, has remained unchanged.
