They teach math and english and my daughter's skills has significantly improved since she has been going there. She is obviously above her levels in both but the best part is how they make it fun. They also have a beautiful backyard where kids get a lot of outdoor time. I am already planning to put my 2nd one in there soon. Thank you Skills.

The school is year round, meaning they don't have the traditional summer breaks I knew and loved as a kid. Its also a blue ribbon award school. Which is good. I guess. Why am I reviewing this again? Our son, Tristan, started in the Peach Room and is now in TK, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, the warmth, dedication, and experience of the teachers have been evident. Not only in how they care for the children, but in how long many of them have been with the school. That kind of consistency speaks volumes about the culture My Room to Grow has built. The teachers here are incredible. Every single one we have met has gone above and beyond to help Tristan learn, grow, and thrive. Carina and Kathy, in particular, have shown such patience, care, and creativity in supporting his development. And Principal Meghan is so thoughtful and engaged, she genuinely knows and cares about every child and family. We have seen tremendous progress in Tristan in just a year and a half, and we are so grateful for the loving environment that has helped him flourish. In fact, we chose to keep him here another year, even though he qualified for Universal TK through Poway Unified, because we simply couldn't imagine a better place for him to continue learning and growing. Our only regret is not finding My Room to Grow sooner! It's such a comfort to know that while I am at work, Tristan is in the hands of people who truly care for him and want the best for him. We feel so lucky to be part of this wonderful community. -- Update: I also wanted to share that my son is diagnosed with ADHD and is on the autism spectrum (verbal and high-functioning). While My Room to Grow isn't a special needs school, they truly go above and beyond to see if they can make accommodations to support each child's individual needs. What was especially helpful when we were considering enrolling Tristan was that they allowed him to visit the school ahead of time to make sure the environment and teachers were the right fit. The staff genuinely care and are willing to collaborate with our Behavioral and Developmental OT therapists to ensure strategies are reinforced consistently at school. I can't express enough gratitude for the compassion, patience, and dedication of every teacher at My Room to Grow. They have made such a difference in Tristan's growth and confidence.

I wish I would have pulled him from this negative environment he was experiencing every school day. They would not work with us and judged him harshly as a barely THREE YEAR OLD. Of course even more biased because I have been on the PTA here for the last 10 years. Gotta put a plug in for the PTA....but they work hard to make sure our staff and kids get 100% support! Mr. T set high standards for this school and with our new principal Mr. Lee he has even set the bar higher. They have both done an extremely awesome job with the school. We have a lot of activities that we do for the kids from our money making Fall Festival, Spring Jog-a-thon, Family Movie Nights, Family Dance, etc. Casa Mira View across the street is a tremendous assistant financially to our school. Perfect place to live so the kids can walk right across the street. Our PTA supports an awesome art program through Art Corps. This allows the kids to learn 8 fantastic art lessons which we then present at the end of the year at our Art Show. With the support of our PE program headed by Mr. Kaneko the PE also helps fund our Swim Program. Grades 3-5 take part in a twice a week swim program for 6-8 weeks in the Spring. Our 5th graders get a one week full of fun before their promotion in June that 2 of my 3 have the pleasure of enjoying. My niece is a Lion at Jonas Salk and I'm one proud aunt! Last Friday she invited me to join her at…read morea school festival. I was really impressed at how organized the event was! They had food trucks selling shaved ice and snow cones, arts and crafts, food and snacks, games, a DJ, and live performances by their lion dance team, hula dancers, and martial arts team. I was amazed by how talented the students were. I've seen a lot of professional lion dancers and the performances by these kids were comparable! They did such an excellent job! The school did a wonderful job planning this event, but their greatness doesn't end here. According to my niece, all of her teachers have been awesome! She actually looks forward to coming to school and is sad when it's summer or winter break because she misses her teachers and classmates. The school has a strong academic program and is one of San Diego's best! Lion pride shines bright at Jonas Salk!

The parking lot gets full sometimes, but that's to be expected. The only other thing I'd add is that it's been very windy there. If feels as if their field is on a sort of plateau, and it gets windswept a lot.

Teachers often tell me that as long as I am in school and in class, my grades and work don't matter. I was punished with having multiple grades lowered despite doing work because I was in the hospital. Drug use and bullying is extremely common here, little is done to stop it. Kids are reckless on bikes and motorbikes. Suspension and detention policies are too loose. My entire time here, 6th to 8th, was very depressing and filled with bullying. Students can be forced to go no contact with others rather than have civil conversations. I wish I never attended.
