The teachers and faculty accused me of doing things I never did - such as masturbating in the classroom. They accused me of cheating, when I never did. The faculty at OGHS accused me of being high on drugs - when I was never once high on drugs. Eventually I was expelled for something I didn't do, and I had no way of proving that I didn't do it. I was so young - I was only 12. I felt bullied by the students - sure... That's normal. But I felt more bullied by the faculty at this school than I ever did by the students. That's what really hurt. Orange Glen High School made me hate school. OGHS made me hate learning. OGHS made me hate teachers. It wasn't until after I was expelled from this school that I started to love learning. I studied on my own, with no one to accuse me of cheating, or of masturbating in front of other students. I studied on my own, and worked hard... And today, I'm successful, have a degree, am becoming an astrophysicist, and make more money than most of the faculty there. Thanks for the memories, OGHS. Thanks for nothing.

Because the school is small enough for teachers and staff to really know each child as a person, kids feel supported, encouraged, and seen every day. The leadership team is thoughtful, competent, and deeply committed to both academics and student well-being. There's also a strong sense of community among families, teachers, and students that makes Meadowbrook feel welcoming and connected. Most importantly, students leave Meadowbrook confident, well-prepared, and ready for the next step into high school. We're incredibly grateful for this school and highly recommend it.

My son experienced issues that required repeated parent advocacy, including bullying-related concerns and an incident where his belongings were damaged. What bothered me most was not just the incidents themselves, but how hard I had to push to get clear answers, accountability, and follow-through. When administrators and adult staff are involved, families should be able to trust that concerns are handled honestly, documented properly, and followed up on without parents having to repeatedly escalate. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of honesty and consistency in communication with students. There were situations where adult staff told my son one thing, but when I followed up as the parent, the explanation changed or the responsibility was shifted back onto the student. That is extremely frustrating because children are already at a disadvantage when speaking up to adults in authority. Adults should not be able to rely on their position to avoid accountability or assume a student's word will matter less. There were individual staff members who tried to help, and I do appreciate that. But the overall system did not feel dependable. My biggest disappointment is with the leadership culture and the lack of accountability when parents raise serious concerns in good faith. Parents should not have to fight this hard to make sure their child is safe, seen, and fairly supported.

The only areas on campus I visited were the student parking lot, stadium, and the girls locker room. Parking: Free parking. Although technically you're supposed to have a permit, but why let a little technicality stop you. The layout of the student lot is just plain weird. It doesn't follow a normal flow for a parking lot. And there's black, blend into the asphalt parking berms in the worst places. Let's put it this way, you need to pay attention or you're bottom out your car. Good thing I was paying attention... The stadium: Great job stadium design - no ones faces into the sun. But oh, it's freezing cold when the wind blows. And boy does it rip through that area like a mini hurricane. The girls locker room: This was huge and relatively clean. Lots of lockers and showers. Appreciated how the bathrooms were at the end of the building so that you don't have to walk through the locker room to reach them. One of the sinks was broken. I didn't take a photo. Yeah, like I want to try and explain to Escondido PD why I'm taking photos in a high school locker room. But I did snap a photo of the sign in the bathroom stall. Because it's important to check your pee...

Well, this was my high school (class of '09). I guess since i havnt been to any other high school…read more(and since former teachers/administrators might read this) i cant complain about it too much. Honestly though, it was an alright school. I had some GREAT teachers, a lot of ok ones, and a few bad ones. Football games were pretty fun since we always seemed to have a pretty decent team. I came in the second year after it was built. The first few years were pretty rocky for the school in general i think. There were a few scandals in my first years there, one concerning the CSTs that resulted in cancelling the API scores, one about out of zone football recruitment or something like that, and a couple others. I dont know if that kind of stuff happens at other schools or not, but it probably does. as far as i know, it was your typical high school, at least throughout MY expirience, a lot of stupid stuff mixed in with cool stuff. The administration was pretty good i guess, no complaints there. As stated before, while there are some really great teachers, especially in the AP programs (Mr. Ramirez, Mrs. McNalley, Mr. Montooth to name a few) there are also some bad ones (i wont name them, that could get me in trouble or something.) To sum it up, Mission Hills is a pretty run-of-the-mill high school. Its got everything any high school has, nothing more, nothing less. I mean, it did its job preparing me for college and i had some fun along the way, but it was school, and obviously sometimes pretty boring.

The administration here, as well as the non colored students, antagonize the colored students and their parents. They are completely one sided and unfair. It was one of my biggest mistakes sending my child to this high school. From the horrible drop offs, rude parents and admin, to the education, even the security sucks here. Students shouldn't get harassed and bullied and then suspended because of the staffs one sided investigations. Students should not be able to roam the hallways or ditch school because staff and security fail to do their jobs. Students should not have their record messed up because the attendance office and teachers fail and misplace students!! ALL CHILDREN DESERVE THE RIGHT TO A FAIR AND COMPLETE EDUCATION, NO MATTER THIER SKIN COLOR!!! All students should have the right to a FAIR "investigation" when being harassed and bullied, no matter their skin color!!! All students should have fair time playing sports and being able to showcase their talents!! All students deserve an equal education!!! My daughter is attending a way better school with much nicer students and staff and I would recommend everyone to really ask their child about their education, peers, and teachers/ staff members and see if they are really happy here. I guarantee you if they are of color, they are not happy or able to thrive at MISSION RACISTS HILLS

So I have been holding back from writing a review about this place as I don't want other people to…read moreknow. But after coming here for such a while, I decided to do it. I do not come here for school - nor for kids - but for badminton and a great time with friends and what I would like to call my badminton family. Hah, I totally broke out in a smile while writing that. Every Friday and Saturday they have the gym open for badminton excluding some holidays. They have a schedule out front. Badminton is what a lot of people will consider very Asian BUT for your information it actually was played in European countries as well. Used to be known as Battledore and Shuttlecock and was simply two people hitting a shuttlecock backwards and forwards with a simple bat as many times as they could without allowing it to hit the ground. It was a upper class pastime in England and many European countries (Here's a site if you were interested in the brief history - http://www.bwfbadminton.org/page.aspx?id=14887). So just shedding some light on the history. Parking is pretty ample. Courts open up eventually and people play in twos against each other. Would say there are about 6 courts. If you are a beginner like me, you would want to stick around for when the court becomes free to hit the birdie around a bit. Practice makes perfect! And yes, you might want to bring a racket and mark your birdies. The courts are not as big as the badminton courts at Balboa but they are my favorite place to go on Friday and Saturday nights. If you do end up dropping by, do be respectful and make sure not to step onto the courts when a game is ongoing.
