As a former student of the school, it has a horrible punishment system and some of the staff are nice but in general I didn't like it

This program is a great alternative to other after school programs that I've used and considered…read moreover my 15+ years of being a Santee dad. The newer building has great amenities like a full basketball court gym and many different rooms for kids to quietly study, watch movies or do crafts. Unlike Project SAFE there's plenty of air conditioned building space where my kids don't spend the summers outside drenched in sweat. The yearly membership charge is nominal and they work with the Santee school district to offer bus transportation from school (at a cost directly from the district). There is a bit of 'you get what you pay for' with thin offerings of administration and old school paper enrollment. YMCA and Project SAFE charge thousands of more per year for similar after school and summer school programs so I'm fine with the trade-off. Regardless, my kids really like the staff, their time there and are excited to go after school. The Boys and Girls Club of Santee hold the safety of the kids paramount with their policies and practice.

My son got a concussion under their supervision and i received no phone call or incident report from them. My son displayed the signs and i had to ask if there was an incident where he hit his head. During the call he showed no remorse and couldn't even tell me the exact day of the event. the only time he apologized was when i told him i would be taking him to the doctor to check if he had a concussion then continued to tell me it might not be a good idea to bring him back if he did because it gets "pretty loud in the club." My son did in fact have a concussion but she (the Dr.) couldn't tell me how severe because of the lack of information provided to me of the incident. No to mention for pick up and drop of don't even bother parking in the pick up spaces in the red zone. you will get hounded about not getting out of your car or they will get ticketed. then when you continue to park your car your child will be waiting by their self no adult in sight doors closed. there is no signing in or out, anyone can pick your child up. I am an alumni of the boys and girls club and it was nothing like this. they don't care about your child's well being or safety so if you care about your children please do not send them to this club. This is so unfortunate i use to love the club growing up and this experience the displayed for my son was nothing near when i went here.

This addition is a well-needed, state of the art events and physical education building, long overdue for the students and faculty. This building boasts over 21,000 square feet that brings together the performing arts and physical education. This connection is developed through the Hall of Fame, which physically connects the two groups. In addition to showcasing the School's rich heritage, the Hall of Fame area acts as a meeting space during events. The project also includes boys and girls locker room, coaches' offices, sports team rooms, restrooms and showers, wrestling rooms, dance room, trainer's room, and multi-use event space with telescoping theatre seating. It was incredibly endearing to see current and former staff taking pride in their campus' accomplishment, honoring the fact that they will be Sultans forever. Like most, I remember my former high school well. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Santana is my alma mater (class of 2002) and the place where I met my husband, Brandon. (Although we are proud Wolfpack parents of our son Noah over at West Hills!)

He also came home bruised with scratches on his back multiple times. Additionally, when I brought up the extreme heat to the school They only attempted to defend their position instead of saying they were going to change the way they were doing things because it was at risk of the children. I also saw children covered head to toe in mosquito bites, and they seemed to refuse to take the children inside when the bugs were swarming. They just shrugged it off. My son is a little rough and tumble. When he's tired, he can be a little handy. They unenrolled him without having a conversation with us first. They just sent a crappy email with a terrible letter with no phone call. Terrible way to run your business. I don't know if I can trust these people again. I would not recommend the school to anyone under the current leadership.

I was either disappointed in the playground due to being old, unkept, dirty or the classroom... also looking DIRTY.. like they NEVER cleaned toys and disorganized. This place has Exceeded all expectations. The playground is CLEAN! they are constantly switching out the toys so they kids have new activities every few days. They are CLEAN toys and they get washed. they have Kleenex boxes, hand sanitizer on hand. The best is they have mini bathrooms for the kids. the toilets are lower to the ground, and they teach potty training. The teachers are super friendly and take the time to understand your child's needs. Whats even better... they take care of all snacks and meals for you. its part of the program!! Yes no more trying to figure out each day what my little one is going to eat. The price is reasonable and worth the wait list to get into the school. They do chapel once a week and my son is always so excited when he gets to go into the BIG ROOM. I recommend this place.
