As we arrived, a fisherman was pulling away so I didn't get a chance to ask him if he caught anything. Large old pine trees populate the grounds and provide peaceful shade for those who wish to sit on one of the comfortable benches. There are a couple picnic tables and a couple benches over looking the water. It's open sunrise to sunset. The neighbors walk their dogs here. And you can also fish from the shore. When we were there we saw several folks speeding down the waterway on their jet skis. And another person just relaxing on a bench watching the water. It would be nice to live in this neighborhood and enjoy this passive park.

We stayed briefly and didn't stay a while. Maybe all three of us thought of different things, but to coexist in that beautiful moment was nice enough for me to want to go back again soon. The view was really nice. Words can't describe how I felt so please stop by yourself and feel for it yourself. The walkaway and parking was kinda tricky for me. It's nice but then again it's accessible to anyone so it can be rough depending on what kind of crowd is there. You might have to walk around like we did to find few good picture spots. The roads are two way but kinda tight so if you are driving around in an suv like me, please be mindful of the size of your vehicle while on the road!

Palm Beach County's Environment…read moreResource Management Team has rehabilitated this 118 acre area and now it is home to hundreds of birds as well as marine life. Manatees are returning to the area as well. As part of the clean up effort 11 acres of mangroves were planted and two oyster beds were created that that clean up the lagoon by filtering out the water. Four islands were made from fill taken from Peanut Island. Wildlife that has been spotted include the American oystercatcher, Common snook, green sea turtle, and West Indian manatee. There is a 545 foot long boardwalk and observation platform that provides a beautiful view of the lagoon. There is also a 590-foot long fishing pier. There is a small lot for launching your canoe or kayak. You can't park here even though it is close to the boardwalk and fishing pier. Parking is down the street at Bryant Park and you have to walk up past the golf course. I was told that if you attempt to park in the water craft launch area you will be ticketed or towed. Other amenities include two bicycle racks, educational kiosks and three benches. This natural area runs along the base of the bridge. This area is ecologically important as well as beautiful. I saw so many birds on one the man islands off the coast. Although you can see from the boardwalk and fishing pier I feel the best way to experience this area would be by kayak. I plan to rent one in the area as soon as the weather cools down a bit.

I came here recently at night on a full moon. There were so many people on the beach, around a drumming circle up on the grass, at the restaurants, and even fishing on the pier. As we walked down the pier, we saw a rocket go off in the sky. Since people are actively fishing, it can be precarious with people casting in the wind and hooks flying about. I can recall walking out during the day and seeing so much sealife from above. A great spot for getting ocean breezes, to chat on the beach but without the sand, with a great view, with a railing that makes it safe for children also, and benches in the middle.

While the park does not have a boat launch (see Lakeview Park to the east), there are launches for canoes and kayaks. Fishing is allowed here with a permit. There are a number of picnic areas with barbecue grills, a picnic pavilion that can be reserved through the county and a nearby playground with restroom facilities. This park shares the parking lot with the Delray Beach Playhouse. On a warmer morning, it was nice to be near the water. On a hot day, it's got to be fabulous. The park also has a small playground, restrooms, picnic tables, and a grill. The boat ramp is very popular and so mainly boaters use this park. The park is open every day from dawn to dusk. Knowles Park is a good place to view the annual Boynton & Delray Beach Holiday Boat Parade held annually in mid December. Decorated boats travel in the Intracoastal Waterways throughout Boynton Beach, and Delray Beach to the C-15 canal. What drew my eye to the park and caused me to stop was a large sculpture called Knowles Knot that sits along Federal Highway. The Public Art Advisory Board allowed the public to vote on the name. Knowles Knot was created by Brooklyn based artist John Clement. The bright red sculpture is made of 8 inch steel pipe. Looping spirals stand 44 feet tall, 12 feet wide, and 20 feet long. The sculpture was installed in the park in March of 2008.
