They even fed me some great French pastry on one occasion. I have seen many people come and go and I was in the store when two ladies took extra brochures because they needed something to write on. The owner was very nice about it but said please take one and write on that if you need to but printing colored brochures is very expensive and if it's scratch paper you are looking for I have a paper bag you can write on. The lady said something I couldn't quite hear but left quite abruptly. I didn't think the owner was being rude. Some folks are just hard to please I guess. Anyway, I've bought some of their shoes and cushions. The items they sell are not inexpensive but it's like Mom used to say, "you get what you pay for". Long story short some of these items are years old now and have been left out in the weather (sun and rain) and they haven't faded or fallen apart. I can't say the same for the Chinese items I've purchased at Wal-Mart. I always try to support our local businesses first and use Wal-Mart as a last resort. Anyway I love this unique one-of-a-kind business. They have things that you won't find anywhere else.

I was reviewing the online listing, trying to gather pertinent info to share with the client - ie cost, colors, availability, shipping time in transit so they could make an informed decision. The shipping time wasn't listed online but I saw they had a customer service chat function. I sent my question on shipping time and waited a minute for someone to connect. They sent "?????" and "are you there?" right when they connected. Weird. I wrote back hello and they said they needed to know what color to answer. I shared the potential color. They said it was in stock, goes out within week of the order, and ships fedex. I asked how long it would be expected to take in transit. (This was my question initially). They said they don't make any promises. I said is there an estimation... 2 weeks, 5 months, roughly what should we plan for? They then wrote "why would you say that when I just said one week?" But as you recall, I was told after ordering, they ship out within one week. They never said the timing in transit. Then they disconnected. I was dumbfounded! Needless to say I absolutely will not recommend my client orders from Bon Marche. Hope this customer service person has the day they deserve.

I wish I could've taken some home with me, like the quarter moon pink amethyst on an iron stand! The giant crystal slab by the front door (also possibly pink amethyst) was astounding. We were visiting Santa Fe from San Diego. When I first walked in with my family in tow after spending some time at the local farmers market, I felt a bit intimidated and expected the people working there to be snobby or ignore me, but this was not the case at all. I went to the back room where they had some pricey jewelry in locked cases, and there were some other shoppers in there was well; an employee (or possible co-owner?) let the customers know she could open the cases should anyone want to take a closer look. I was offered a small cup of hot chai tea while I shopped that was so incredibly delicious, I had to buy a box to take home with me. My family sat on some of the plush chairs while I walked around and took some photos. At the front counter there was a bowl of one-word affirmation cards, and I asked the gentleman who worked there, who ended up being the owner, how this works. He said to take three cards out of the bowl to set my intention and then return them to the bowl so others could share in this delightful practice. The man was beautiful inside and out, and I think the woman who was there (also beautiful) may have been the co-owner. The man offered my 10-year-old son to select three cards, and the woman offered my son a cup of cold water to drink. She also complimented my outfit. They were so gracious and kind! I noticed another customer choosing furniture and other furnishings for her home and I asked her a few questions and we chatted for a moment. How lucky is she to be able to shop this store to decorate her second home! I am considering calling the store to see if that crystal I had my eye on is still available to purchase and ship. I felt that even though these were gorgeous, high-end pieces, they were not overpriced. If you are looking to add some spirituality and beauty to your home, go to this store. Some time ago I bought a $200+ Gallagher rodent trap that did not work and reported this to a store clerk. He replied that I was the only one who had made such a claim. I later learned that an Eldorado friend had complained about her non-functioning trap to the same clerk and he told her the same thing. Sometime later, I returned to the store to complain about the trap not working. The clerk admitted that a number of these traps were indeed malfunctioning and was told that they were waiting for parts. I regularly checked in over the weeks and was told each time that they were still waiting for parts. Some time later, I returned to the store, and the clerk took a look to see if he could fix it. After checking in with him over the next few weeks, he finally called to say he had repaired it. However, I soon discovered that the canister part was still leaking. Some time later, I returned to the store and spoke with Steve. who gave me the number to the manufacturer to call and arrange a shipment and exchange. At that time, Steve stated that he takes care of his customers. When I called, the manufacturer rep asked why the store wasn't handling this. I realized that I, a regular customer, was caught in a shipment war between Steve and the manufacturer. Not cool. Some time later, I returned to the store and spoke with the clerk, who took my faulty trap and added it to a box containing other parts and traps behind the counter. He said that they were going to ship it to the manufacturer for exchanges. Finally, the issue with my expensive purchase would be resolved. Not so. Some time later, I returned to the store and noticed that the box was still behind the counter, weeks later. I asked the clerk about it, and he said they were still arguing over who would pay for the shipment. I wrote to Steve last week that it is well past time for him to either replace my purchase with a working trap, reimburse my purchase, or credit me the $200+. I've not heard back.
