I've shopped here for years and been grateful for the convenience, service, and supply--thus the 2 stars, otherwise it would be 1 star. Some time ago I bought a $200+ Gallagher rodent trap that did not work and reported this to a store clerk. He replied that I was the only one who had made such a claim. I later learned that an Eldorado friend had complained about her non-functioning trap to the same clerk and he told her the same thing. Sometime later, I returned to the store to complain about the trap not working. The clerk admitted that a number of these traps were indeed malfunctioning and was told that they were waiting for parts. I regularly checked in over the weeks and was told each time that they were still waiting for parts. Some time later, I returned to the store, and the clerk took a look to see if he could fix it. After checking in with him over the next few weeks, he finally called to say he had repaired it. However, I soon discovered that the canister part was still leaking. Some time later, I returned to the store and spoke with Steve. who gave me the number to the manufacturer to call and arrange a shipment and exchange. At that time, Steve stated that he takes care of his customers. When I called, the manufacturer rep asked why the store wasn't handling this. I realized that I, a regular customer, was caught in a shipment war between Steve and the manufacturer. Not cool. Some time later, I returned to the store and spoke with the clerk, who took my faulty trap and added it to a box containing other parts and traps behind the counter. He said that they were going to ship it to the manufacturer for exchanges. Finally, the issue with my expensive purchase would be resolved. Not so. Some time later, I returned to the store and noticed that the box was still behind the counter, weeks later. I asked the clerk about it, and he said they were still arguing over who would pay for the shipment. I wrote to Steve last week that it is well past time for him to either replace my purchase with a working trap, reimburse my purchase, or credit me the $200+. I've not heard back. read more

The employee that helped me named Chrishan offered tremendous help and showed true knowledge of the equipment I came in for. He walked with such pizazz it was difficult not to leave in a better mood. I have been depressed and living outside the store, homeless but he gave me the tools to have a real, functioning tent. He made my day. Please give him a raise now, what a gem. read more

Not a "big" hardware store, so limited stock, but it has saved me many trips to Home Depot, so helps save time and transportation costs. Zubi, Steve and staff are very friendly and helpful. Another big plus is they sell nuts, bolts, and screws pay the piece...unlike many local hardware stores.Call ahead if you're not sure if they have what you need. They always answer their phone, unlike so many other businesses with long auto phone trees. read more

Watch out if you see this store on Amazon as a Market Place seller. I used them to order pool chlorine. They have an option to order one (1) bag of pool shock for $24-30.00 dollars. I unfortunately must have clicked on that one not meaning to. When I contacted this 'store' this is what I rec'd as a reply: "I filled the order as placed. I was the lowest price listed on Amazon. I am sorry you did not read the listing that Amazon, not me, created for this product. The cost of shipping it is $7.45 alone. It is on Amazon as a convenience, not a low price. Check the current price. It is now $30.98 because I ran out so the next lowest price seller set the price there. When I get more, I will list them back at $23.99. I will not be send 5 other bags. and you are not getting a credit for them as you did not order them or pay for them. Please contact Amazon for them for a credit if you paid for them. So buyer beware. Double chk your order or buy from another seller or on Ebay. Amazon is working with me to return this lousy one bag of shock and will even return my return shipping fee. So this store will be getting back their one lousy bag of shock to sell to some poor unsuspecting soul. read more

We are relative newcomers to Eldorado and really appreciate this store and the staff. They may not have everything, everyday but if they don't, they'll let you know where to shop for the item. Most importantly, they will give advice if you ask for it. I overheard the owner telling a couple to hold on to a newish can of paint (that came with their new home) because he could tint it for them if they had a future painting project - allowing that with current prices, paint is too expensive to abandon. Honesty and effort will get me back to a store every time. read more

A place to check before running into Santa Fe for hardware needs. It is one of those stores with sort of 1 of everything, but you have to climb over things to see if they happen to have the 1 thing you need. The owner prides himself on his prowess when it comes to online liquidation - hence the great mix of merchandize. Which can result in questionable quality and end up with a trip to Santa Fe to get the item or size you need. Makes one wonder if it may soon devolve into "Sanford & Son Salvage" or just junk yard. Note: they do have lots of the bins of different size screws and little components, etc. Probably the best stocked in Santa Fe when it comes to this service. A plus is that if they do not have what you need, they will 99% of the time let you know where to get the item or offer to order it for you. I'm giving this at least one extra star because it would be a disaster for me if the store wasn't there. It is a valuable community resource. I'm not too concerned about whether a hardware store is tidy and squared away. This one isn't. That 's partly because the owner is good at locating new old stock from elsewhere. As his finds arrive, it takes some time to find a place for them. Whether it's organized immediately or not, it eventually becomes one of those treasured places that just might have that hard-to-find thing that you've been looking for. If you want tidy little plastic packages of things that sell easily, there's always Home Depot. For me, one of the pleasures of shopping at a hardware store is wandering around looking to see what you might find, but then, I'm retired. Perhaps there's only one reason I didn't give five stars. It's an occupational disease among some hardware clerks to imagine that they know everything. I have been a toolmaker/machinist for fifty years. It's sometimes the case that I know more about what I want to buy than the clerk does, but I don't want to get in a fight about it. I once asked for a power cord, and the clerk called me an idiot because he didn't know what a power cord was. By and large, most of the staff are outstanding, and the ones who aren't don't seem to last. read more

I have never found such an inept, incompetent place. I have many examples which we used as funny stories, especially for our friends that ran a small family-owned hardware store for years. Ash can but no lid. A couple of other stops finally get a lid. On more than one occasion the item asked to be ordered was put on the shelf and sold before we could get it. Everything takes 3 stops on average. The final straw after many incidents: we were at Lowes, do we buy a wheelbarrow there? No, support Eldorado Hardware. My husband buys a wheelbarrow, however they have no handles. He paid and came back on agreed day, no holes to attach handles. He finally gets a call, wheelbarrow is ready. I stop in and am told they don't recall that my husband paid, i.e., we don't believe you. I'm told the phone message requested receipt, however they never requested receipt on phone call. Done. Done. Eldorado True Value hardware is a dump. Stuff all over the floor, stuff not put away, stuff in bins all mixed up, price labels half wrong. More interest in fixing computers than providing a user friendly hardware store like the old Country Store was. Thumbs down.... read more
