Jackalope forbids parking for the Mystic music venue. They have parking in front of and surrounding their building, whereas the Mystic has about 6 spaces. Some of the "Jackalope" so-called parking is directly in front of Mystic. Music starts at 7:00 or 8:00, and Jackalope closes at 6:00. This does not reflect Santa Fe community. read more

Since I was very young, Jackalope was always one of my mom's favorite places to stop when we passed through Santa Fe. Most recently my young daughters also enjoyed their first visit here (5/29/2023). The place has changed significantly since the last time I had been there. There is still free parking. Mostly friendly staff - however, I don't remember paying in different areas in the same building. Speaking of buildings, there are several... The newest is one for glass blowing where classes are also offered. That sounds neat. In other buildings are the following: rugs, gifts (art, clothing, jewelry, bags, etc.) and home decor, and furniture. There is also a garden nursery in front of the main buiding in addition to pottery, sculptures, and water fountains of all sizes. I've never been to the location in Albuquerque. The difference between the two locations is that Santa Fe has the Mercado merchants from all around the world - South America, South Asia, Thailand, Nepal, Mexico, and beyond. We bought items from both the Andean Village Arts and Martz Imports. The pricing is confusing at times. Some items aren't clearly marked or not at all. Other items I found to be a bit steep. I love this place there are so many buildings specializing in different products. I love the Praire Dog glass, where the glass blowers make wonderful creations, such as glass chili peppers, and pumpkins. You can take a lesson with master glassblower Patrick. Therre is building with unusual primitive wood furniture. Another has Mexican painted pottery and Mexican glass products. There is the largest selection of small and large flower pots for outdoors, and indoors. There is also a small plant nursery. There is a building with lots of baskets, jewelry, clothing, bric a brac, and foods. There is a lot of yard art, including metal flowers and animals. It is a wonderland of colorful, fun and unusual items. Go spend a few hours there to see it all. read more

We always find such awesome treasures here when we visit our folks who live in New Mexico. Great rustic furniture pieces, nichos, and goodies to take home to California. I will admit Jackalope is not cheap, but you are paying for quality. My husband and I have always looked at furniture pieces here every time we shopped here but we never bought anything large...until this last weekend. I let Nadine know we were interested in the piece while my husband and I marinated on the thought of purchasing this piece (and subsequently renting a U-Haul trailer to take back home to California). I called as soon as they opened on Sunday and let Nadine know we were coming to get it. Her team - wow, wrapped the entire console, broke it down, and did an amazing job with getting the shelf into our trailer. I didn't catch their names but one gentleman was from Alabama, and one was from Wyoming but they did a great job! Absolute 5 star service. We always stop here when we're in town like I said, but now that I know that the 5 star service matches the price, best believe we are purchasing one of those amazing floor mirrors next time we're in town. Used to (15 yrs ago) love Jackalope... but it's been a while since I've been there. The format and layout is totally different but there are many lovely high quality items here. We were able to pick up all our needed souvenir-type foods and gifts for people, so it was nice to one-stop-shop, but I felt like either inflation has hit here hard, or that perhaps it wasn't quite the value it used to be (it might still be at or slightly above market, but it didn't feel like oooh! what a great price!) The glassblowing shop was awesome, but didn't have enough time between glassblowing and going home (glass has to sit 24-48 hours to cool so it doesn't crack) so I didn't make a piece even though I wanted to. The biggest bummer for me was that we were here on the 26th and all the Christmas ornaments were still full price :-( which I didn't expect. Spent a lot more than I intended to and while the ornaments were nice, the price was disappointing. read more

Jackalope is a MUST fun stop, when you are in Santa Fe. Can something be both eclectic and cool? I think so, and Jackalope is! You see, Jackalope is basically a gardening store. That is, everything you ever wanted to buy for your garden, furniture, table & chairs, wind chimes, clay pots; everything including a life sized Day of the Dead Bride (see photos). We wouldn't go there. There must be over several acres of things to find, look at and I haven't even mentioned prairie dogs.... Did I say eclectic? This is an expansive complex of shops that includes separate vendors. There are at least three other buildings (including a glass blowing shop) and other souvenir-type stores offering imports and native arts. The garden pot selection is unbelievable (like acres and acres). When we were there this weekend, they were hosting a party for the owner (Darby) and had cake and Mexican food along with a live band. (I had been here many, many years ago when it was little more than an Mexican import place---I was amazed as to how it has grown.) It should definitely be a stop when in Santa Fe. read more

Jackalope Mercado does not disappoint - we spent 4 delightful hours wandering it today! Come on the weekend, when there is an extensive outside flea market in tents behind the mercado. Note - some of the flea market vendors take credit cards while others only cash. We left with ceramics, rugs and hand painted crafts from a number of the different vendors inside the big warehouse. The clothing options were pricey but most things were handmade and stunning. There's an outside garden, fountains and tons of blown glass. A cute ice cream trailer sits in the middle of the plaza that had yummy hand mixed strawberry basil ice cream. My favorite stop was the glass blowing studio of two artists that were impressively skilled and amicable hosts to the interests of passerbys. They provide opportunities for people to learn hands-on glass blowing on site as well. read more

Oh my how I loved Jackalope in all its wonderfully vibrant ways! This was our first colorful stop when we strolled into Sante Fe and it set the tone perfectly for our authentic day! We were greeted immediately outside in the midst of gorgeous colored, traditional planters and lawn decor. There's a box near the entrance to the store where you will find broken tiles for the taking. I can imagine this is a great place to come for a lover and/or creator of mosaics! We only took one piece per person but there was no limit! Artists, rejoice! We then entered to find incredible oversized hand woven rugs! How I dreamed about these bold beauties popping against my dark bamboos floors at home! They also make perfect backdrops for photo ops while you're here! (wink, wink) Then the pillows! Oh the pillows! I'm not sure anyone loves a good throw pillow as much as me, just ask my husband who rolls his eyes every time I purchase a new one. This place was like a woven pillowy heaven! There's really adorable items for children from beaded hair clips, wooded instruments, little dolls, mini purses, backpacks, woven shoes, and llamas! Tons and tons of llamas!! This mama is obsessed with llamas and my kids and I were absolutely in our glory! Tons of traditional Mexican tiles, ceramics and mirrors. You're bound to find a fabulous accent price for your home here! For the ladies there were amazing oversized weekender bags I drooled over and wanted so very badly, but they were leather and I don't wear animal. Bummer! Check them out if you do, and buy one so I can vicariously through you! So stunning with hand embroidery! There's also traditional peasant tops and sun dresses. Of course a fair amount of turquoise and coral too! Strands of beads galore! Didn't buy any turquoise which I was on the hunt for however. While the variety was vast, I didn't find that "it" piece I so desired. From what I gathered, there are a few different vendors set up in this one extremely large space. The ladies handling the purses and childrens' goods to the left front were where we purchased most our our artifacts from were so sweet and worth mentioning. They were selling items imported from Guatemala and Mexico and the one woman didn't speak a lick on English. She so kind and spent time teaching my girls some Spanish! This was definitely a great stop for us all! If I wasn't flying home I would've absolutely purchased more pillows and perhaps a rug. Prices for some items including the ones I mentioned were high, but no higher than I've seen online for imported goods. In general some items were a tad pricey, but I found a good portion of them to be unique and worth the splurge. A great place to purchase gifts if you're traveling! *Its located directly across the street from Meow Wolf, a trippy interactive art installation. It's easy to a stop at both places! read more

Jackalope is a cool stop if you're looking for rugs, blankets, pottery, or handmade crafts to take with you from Santa Fe. The property is large and encompasses several buildings and an outdoor area, so there's a lot to see and admire. Within the space, there are different vendors, each selling their own products and art. The items sold here are generally less elaborate and more affordable than the things you'll find in downtown Santa Fe, so if you're looking for something on the lower end of the price scale, a stop in is probably worth your while. I personally didn't find much because I found most of be items to be either for the home (large pots for plants, tiles for house numbers, dishes) or too touristy. Overall, if you're looking to bring a few things home from Santa Fe but don't want to pay a premium downtown, Jackalope might have something you're looking for. The manager was so helpful. She took extra special care to make sure my package a "Dia de Los Muertos" figurine was secure for my travels back home. OMG ... the pottery and yard art was amazing! Recently we visited the Jacalope and we left behind one of the items that we paid for. 2 weeks later we realized what we had forgotten. I called them on Easter Sunday AM and they promised to investigate. They claimed to remember us and said come in and we will give you that $40 sisal doormat. Later we arrived and with a broad smile they kept their promise! If you are looking for an AWESOME place to trick out your home or yard with the coolest Mexican or Indian accouterments...THIS IS THE PLACE!!! Those that are giving this place any less than four stars, must have a screw loose in the head or something. Jackalope is fantastic, and the staff are GREAT! As is the kitty that plops on the counter. Every time I go in, I find something new and exotic. A wonderful place for gifts to send to family that do not live here. Great place to bring family and friends visiting from out of town. In the winter, it can be kind of dead, the prairie dogs are hibernating, and most everything is inside. But STILL worth the trip. During the spring/summer and fall, the whole entire facility is open and booming with activity. On the weekends you can find artists working hard, glass blowers, gardeners, belly dancers, live music, roasted corn, tacos, hamburgers, and horchata and other Aquas Frescas. Bring the kids to see the prairie dogs, and the petting zoo, koi fish and peacocks. I LOVE Jackalope, with ALL of my heart. read more

If you are headed to Santa Fe for a visit plan on spending several hours at Jackalope Imports on Cerrillos Road. Don't pass this up. A couple of acres and several buildings of imported stuff. Fun stuff! Interesting stuff! Colorful stuff! Mostly from Mexico & South America, but if it's unique and colorful they probably have it. Lots of large pots for your garden and city deck. They even have a prairie dog village (yes, with real prairie dogs!) on the grounds. The place was founded by Darby McQuade - a world traveler, from of all places - Virginia, I think. He obviously saw many wonderful & colorful knick-knacks made around the globe and thought the Santa Fe crowd would really appreciate them. As for me, I certainly do. I always go here when it is time to buy stocking stuffers for all those stockings hanging on my fireplace. If you hit it on the right days / time of the year a number of the unique art displays have an artisan there who actually makes the items. There's a small aviary filled with colorful little guys chattering away and a coffee shop where you can rest your legs and get a bite to eat before you get overloaded on too much color & color & color . . . . The one on Cerrillos Rd was the 1st, but a few years ago . . . well actually quite a few, they expanded to Albuquerque and Bernalillo and now I understand there is even one in LA. Haven't been to that one. There is also a furniture version on the old Las Vegas highway. Obviously Mr. McQuade had foresight . . . and good business sense . . . in my book this is a roaring success and lots of fun to visit! Update: The furniture store moved to the central complex. I have another feeling that you will melt away stress or anything else on your mind as you wander through the isles of hand made crafts, watch the glass blower, meet Indian craftsmen and women and dream about lazy afternoons lounging in your new patio furniture. There's a guy named Nathan located on the far left near the very front of the entrance, currently. He mines stones from all over the country himself (maybe beyond) and made my experience at Jackalope better than I anticipated. He stopped me as I walked in and immediately showed me this pretty purple stone. I have purple hair; that was why I'm sure, but when he told me what it was and what its benefits were, I instantly knew it was perfect for me. Gel Lithium Silica, known for its calming, stress relieving, stabilizing, negative reducing effects. Like I said, it was perfect. I got to hand pick my stone, as they all have their differences, and watched as he cut it, shaped it into my shape of preference, which was a heart, smoothed it down, shined it, wrapped sterling silver around it, and made it into a necklace. I was so impressed! I'm not a big necklace person at all, but I know I'll be wearing this every single day. This stone in particular is great for meditation as well, and all in all balances your emotions and strengthens the heart. I have it resting on my heart all day and under my pillow at night and truly believe in the power of these healing crystals. I have been shopping at Jackalope for decades, most recently after I relocated back to Santa Fe after living out of state for many years. I've purchased a number of pieces of furniture from Jackalope after shopping larger, name-brand stores. The decor fits our Santa Fe lifestyle much better than that offered by other retailers ... plus, Nadine and her crew are wonderful to work with. In fact, all of my Jackalope encounters have been positive. In addition to furniture (including lamps), I've purchased quite a few pieces of pottery and numerous gifts there. It's just really fun to shop at Jackalope, and it's nice that the Prairie Dog Glass studio and gallery is located on the premises because it adds interest to already interesting destination shopping. I have been going to this store for over 20 years and I still love this place! Last week I was there and a very young lady was trying to help me to no avail. I saw a "Tree of Life" rug hanging high on the wall and asked what it cost, to which she replied, $ 139.00. I asked her 2 more times with the same response. I'LL take it. After she removed it from hanging, she rang it up and said the total was $372.00! Of course I asked why considering the original cost was $139.00, to which she replied -tax. Really! I wanted to talk to her boss but he wasn't there. A few minutes latter I ran into Nadine , who I have known for years and told her what happened. She immediately called her boss and I got my rug for the quoted price. At the same time this was occurring, my wife was purchasing another rug and Nadine gave us 20% off the original price for our inconvenience. Now that's customer service! I'm not one to typically write reviews but we drove over from Amarillo, Texas with a large flatbed trailer to get pots and Landscape rocks. After getting the rocks we pulled in to Jackalope at 4:30 to pick up 6 large pots and a fountain. By the time we found a helpful employee and got our truck and trailer turned around and picked out the pots it was 5:02 PM and the manager said they were sorry they had closed the registers. Who does that? You certainly haven't earned our return business. It's gonna be a long silent drive home. read more
