I have no complaints about the fence. They finished everything in one day. With that said, I am deducting a star because the crew tripped my breaker box. They plugged in a battery (Milwaukee? It was red. See photo) to the outlet I had a licensed contractor install to a recent closet extension in my backyard. I'm not sure how they even found that outlet as it's not close to the shared fence and is hidden by the A/C unit. I'm also not sure why they were that deep in my backyard when they were just supposed to be working on installing the new fence. If they had simply asked for permission to plug in the battery, this wouldn't have been an issue. I saw the battery charging as I was checking on the progress of the fence throughout the morning and thought nothing of it. It wasn't until that evening where I noticed that all the outlets in the back room didn't work that I started questioning the reason for the outage. After racking my brain and attempting to reset the breaker box, it dawned on me that it was because one of the workers was charging their battery. I don't know the voltage of the battery that they were charging, but it was too much for that outlet. They should've just used an outlet from my neighbor.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly. A gentleman showed up, took measurements, and evaluated the damage. I was told they'll have an estimate ready for me the next day. Next day came and no estimate. I called and no answer. Left text messages with no response. A week later I tried again with no answer, but owner's wife did call me back from a different number and told me they have been busy and also that they went on a retreat. OK? I was told again they'll get the estimate ready for me but days went by and still no estimate. Now my texts and calls are being ghosted. I guess business is good to turn down work. Trex, however, does have specific foundation requirements that support the boards and we needed our foundation updated. We met with 3 companies all of whom had good reviews/referrals. We chose California Fence primarily because of Bill. This may sound silly but part of the reason is because when he come over to meet with us and provide a quote, he was covered with dirt and sawdust, which reinforced what he was telling us - He is on the job working with his crew all day unless running out to do a quote. He listened to our needs and gave us experienced feedback. We had a medium sized tree which needed removing and killing, which he also did, and he needed to work around a gas line to our fire pit. We liked his attention to detail and his straight to the point matter. After answering our questions he immediately brought out his tape measure, little book and pencil and worked out a quote. His crew is composed of his family and a couple of family friends that have been working with Bill for years. They were all very friendly and respectful and seemed to share Bill's attention to detail. Bill and crew were always available to us and responsive to any questions we may have had. We were impressed with the quality of their work. When they were done we had a beautiful new Trex deck and the area was nicely cleaned up. I recently purchased a new home and along with it came an arbor covered with grey stuff and lichen…read more I consulted with the Summit Deck Doctor and Rupert counseled me that the situation was not good. The grey stuff doesn't add character...its fungus! This arbor needed attention and fast! It was attached to another structure that had a pre-existing stain color on it already. Rupert matched it exactly! After a good pressure washing and staining, the arbor looks like new! I am just delighted with the outcome. Even better was how well Rupert communicated with me about the project; I knew what was happening every step of the way. His follow up was terrific. I will definitely call on Rupert again when I need this kind of work done, and I recommend him highly to others. He is one of the most conscientious contractors I've ever worked with. He really cares!

Don't fall for the sales pitch, the work was poor and the experience terrible. My dad was an unscrupulous (to be kind) used car salesman and Rupert reminded me so much of him I really should have known better. Would not recommend for any job.
