This place has become an absolute JOKE! Apparently they were bought out 2 years ago and it seems to be the new owners are delusional. They used to help place the landscape boulders you purchased for a reasonable delivery charge. NOW... it's $200 to drop and run. The driver just left and now we have a 700 pound boulder on a pallet the entrance of our driveway. What an ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A BUSINESS NOW! And tbh... they never really were that friendly much less helpful. It's unfortunate we don't have more options in this one horse town. We purchased a couple pallets of flagstone and a load of crushed rock for our new patio. It was scheduled for delivery between 9 and11am. When it didn't arrive by 11, I called to inquire. Apparently there was a mix up in scheduling that had delayed our delivery. I let SB Stone know we had a crew awaiting the material. Within 30 minutes, the delivery arrived. What a breath of fresh air. We are older DIYers. We needed more white gravel to put a 3 ft wide strip between the exterior wall of house and the plants to 1) increase wildfire resistance, 2) prevent weeds and 3) reflect sun. After getting baited & switched by a local big box hardware chain and being unable to find such gravel using the website of the other, we decided to try SB Stone. For starters, they had clear plastic boxes of most of their gravel, making it easy to find what you want and compare. We brought a sample of what we were looking for and they recognized it immediately, had bags in stock, and even loaded it for us. They also had the staples for pinning down weed barrier. They were polite, helpful and knowledgeable. We were in and out in a jif. Add to this that it is right next to the 101 in SB proper, and it was a GREAT experience. read more

I bought a $70 ceramic hole saw to drill a 1" hole in a tile. The hole saw was not able to drill even one hole! A $5.00 hole saw from Amazon worked fine. When I took the useless hole saw back to SBS&MS they said it could not be returned because it was "used". It had only been used to find out it did not work. I will never be returning to SBS&MS, they do not stand behind what they sell. read more

I rate this place a -0 in customer service. The sales staff can't quote a price and were not helpful at all. The person helping me dumped me when someone else walked in the door. I wondered if being a woman was the problem because they seemed more attentive to male customers. The owner Kathleen Mackins emailed me 3 weeks after my visit only to tell me the flagstone I wanted wasn't available and did not give me a price. I continued to ask for a price and am still waiting almost 3 months later. I ordered from Home Depot and hope Home Depot opens next door to this place so SB Stone learns about competition and what good customer service is all about. read more

Totally infuriating experience. Explained my project, asked about different materials and pricing, was told to go across the street and someone would meet us there. No one was there. Went back to the original person in the showroom, who briefly answered a few questions and showed us a few materials, then literally walked back inside while I was mid sentence asking a question. Went back across the street and the employee that eventually met us didn't know any pricing info and sent us back to the showroom again. All three of the employees we spoke with during this ordeal directed their answers to my questions at my husband, who was blown away by the blatant sexism. I'm managing the landscaping project we're working on and am considerably more knowledgeable about the project and materials that we need, however one employee literally cut me off to ask my husband for his preference and told him to speak up instead of letting me make all the decisions. read more
