Delicious! Happy with all the ramens we had here. - Tonkotsu - Shoyu - Spicy tan tan We live in the GTA and been to one of the Sansotei GTA locations, but this Ottawa location was much better than the GTA's. Ottawa (Bank St) location's ingredients are more authentic to Japanese ramen. The soup arrived hot (important!), with proper & generous toppings (No shiitake!). The Char shu was melty tender with a hint of charcoal. We loved Spicy tan tan. Japanese tan tan men is actually based on Chinese Dan-dan noodle, but, the soup is less oily, thinner but has full of flavor. This tan tan men's broth was delicately spicy, seamlessly balancing contrasting flavors. I was very happy to meet this very authentic Japanese tan tan men here in Ottawa. Service was super friendly and quick. I will come back whenever I visit Ottawa!

You aren't ready for this! Even my friend that doesn't like pho/ramen love Sansotei for the broth. They serve delicious exotic cocktails and is always crowed (for an obvious reason). The place is vibrant. Fun fact, the staff greets you when you leave (wishing see you next time) It's absolutely fabulous

Tonkotsu + Ramen (Daikon, Pastrami, Truffle Oil, Meatballs, & Mushrooms)

Stopped by for lunch with a friend while I was in town this past weekend and wow was I impressed by the ramen that I had! Service here was great and the servers were quite helpful with any questions we had and it's a great little shop to have lunch or dinner at if you are craving for some ramen. After looking over the menu, I ordered their special Tonkotsu+ bowl while my friend got the regular Tonkotsu bowl. Both of them arrived rather quick and were delicious! The unique toppings of my bowl blew me away with the pastrami and meatballs working quite well with the truffle oil infused broth which brought in quite a bit of richness. I never thought you could add pastrami and meatballs to ramen but they made it work! The noodle texture was perfect and I opted for the thick noodles but you could also order bowls here with thin noodles. The addition of daikon ended the bowl on a great note and was a unique touch to an already interesting bowl. Pricing wise, its pretty affordable for what you are getting and the bowls here are quite large. The ambience of the shop was like your typical ramen shop with the servers moving around from table to table taking orders and the shop bustling with customers and the décor was reminiscent of most ramen places that I've been to. If you are in Ottawa and want some delicious ramen, come stop at Sansotei! They have a wide variety of bowls to choose from and I look forward to returning in the future when I am back in town!

Wow! Great ramen! The broth has such a deep flavour, full of umami! Pork broth, mushroom, garlic, all the flavours coming through. Noodles have a good chew, and the pork belly is so soft and flavourful. It's easy to see why there are line ups here. Staff were pleasant, helpful, and attentive. Despite it's small size, it is a great vibe.

The service is good and the staffs are very nice, the food is well cooked and the ambiance is dim and lively.

Went for lunch, and had a brief wait to be seated. Understandable, as the place is small, and popular. Once can see why it is popular, however, as the food is great. I had ordered a second smaller dish to try but never received it, but I wasn't charged, so it was all good. The ramen was great, and tasty and satisfying. Definitely would recommend for a lunchtime spot in downtown Ottawa. Even during the pandemic, the service was good and they do check for vaccination status also.

Quite possibly the best ramen I've ever had. Noodle texture perfection. The garlic oil drizzle was enough to lay me out! Service was decent and super fast.

My husband and I visited Sansotei Ramen for the first time last week. Because of the pandemic, there weren't a lot of tables but we got there right after we opened, so it was no problem getting seated right away. However, I noticed that shortly after they opened, there was a lineup of people waiting outside and the same thing in the evening so I'd definitely recommend making reservations. I ordered the tonkotsu black and my husband ordered the spicy tantan. They were both absolutely delicious. The eggs in both were nice and runny and the meat was very tender. The broth was also very tasty. The noodles were perfectly cooked with just a little bit of a bite to them. Both of us had the thinner noodles, so I can't say what the thicker ones would be like. The service was fast and friendly and the inside of the restaurant (including the washrooms) was very clean. We'd definitely go back!!

This location is in downtown Ottawa near the Parliament Hill with a bit of a walk. The storefront is rather small and we actually walked past it before we had to double back. The store is smaller than expected but worth the wait and food. We got a Tonkotsu Black Ramen which was well portioned and tasted excellent. Staff is busy and attentive so good mix along with a traditional Japanese greeting on entry. Worth a visit!

A very good and very tasty ramen. Got Tonkotsu Black ramen and it was delicious! Staff is attentive and friendly, we got our food very fast. The place itself is nice and very small. It is very easy not to notice it when you are looking for it outside. I would come again and definitely recommend visiting!

Very good ramen. Just as good as the other locations in Toronto, the location in Ottawa is usually packed during the dinner rush. The pricing remains the same, in the $15~$20 range for a bowl. My favourite remains the black garlic, partner ordered the normal tonkotsu. When we went in the middle of the afternoon, it was still half full as a restaurant. Service is quick, and they provided takeout containers. A good staple chain ramen spot.

It's a food-reason to come back to downtown Ottawa! You can't possibly do anything wrong with this menu. The tight quarters only help to keep you in the cloud of ramen-smell delight and ensure you get the best service from an ever-bustling service staff. They flip tables like a gymnast somersaults. Back and forth, in and out (the front door to take names and say hello). When I said you can't do anything wrong, I meant it. Miso Black is a favorite for sure. The belly slab you get with your ramen only complicates matters for you as to whether to eat it straight away or savor bites over the course of your ramen. There's plenty of chashu underneath so don't worry!

Visited this location several times since I moved to Ottawa, and never have I been dissatisfied. Their quality especially on the appetizers have gotten better, and the ramen has of course remained consistent. Even though this place is small, they run it efficiently and the staff are very friendly. The huge mirror when I walk in trips me out every time, it makes the place look double the size until you realize you're looking at your own reflection

Excellent Ramen. I always try to get some when I'm in centretown. It's a very short walk from Alt Hotel which is another favorite.

The food was okay, but it was very salty and unappetizing. The service was pretty slow. But, it was good, and they were very nice.

Great broths, a little pricey but nice to have a ramen place near home. Their pork belly is tender and sweet.

The Short Version: Ramen and Poke restaurant not far from…read morethe Ottawa airport. Good food, nice ambiance and excellent service. The Long Version: My mom and I had lunch here and we enjoyed it. My mom got the Kimono Ramen $22 and I got the Chicken Kaarage Poke Bowl $19. My bowl wasn't on the menu in the restaurant but I asked the server if it was available because I saw it on a menu online and she said that it was in fact available :) My mom's ramen came with pork belly, grilled chicken breast, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo, bean sprouts, a marinaded egg, and ramen noodles. She asked them to hold the sesame seeds so that I could have some. I had a taste of everything except for the pork belly (it was too fatty for me, lol, but my mom liked it), and I thought it was tasty. The ramen noodles were nice and chewy (she chose the thick noodles) and the broth was good. It wasn't too salty. I liked the lean grilled chicken breast as well. My poke bowl came with sushi rice, mixed greens, edamame, cucumbers, avocado, shredded carrots, and shredded surimi crab (they call this Kani salad, it's basically shredded imitation crab with maybe a bit of mayo). I got 5 pieces of chicken kaarage. They were crispy and nicely seasoned. I enjoyed them despite them being dark meat, lol. The vegetable ingredients were fresh. The sushi rice was a bit clumpy, but once I mixed all the ingredients together, it was fine. Service was wonderful. We were greeted right away and brought a carafe of water. Once we got our food the server noticed we were trying to share a bit of our meals with each other and she offered to bring us 2 small bowls. The bowls were incredibly helpful and made sharing much better and less messy, lol. I felt the food was about 4 stars but the thoughtful and attentive service bumps this place up an extra star in my books. Decor is pretty. Design is sleek and modern. The restaurant is in a plaza with several other restaurants and shops, including T&T Supermarket. Free parking available in the plaza parking lot. Review #80 (2026)

Atmosphere worse with the very loud K-pop music and the restaurant's food app constantly dinging at the highest of volumes every 3 seconds. Acoustics, not great. Seating not the most comfortable. Tables are tiny. Not a lot of room. The food.. the fried chicken appy is a must.. perfect fried and golden, come out nice and hot. Gyoza with garlic and onion, good. Would get plain gyoza if I came back here. I love onion but it was a crazy amount. I kept most on the side for my ramen. Ramen.. not a lot of choice. I settled for the popular Black Shin which just means black garlic was added to the Shin. I brought my own cayenne pepper which is good as they kept forgetting to bring the chili oil. I never got it. Had to ask many times for soy sauce, came at the end of the meal. The noodles themselves were good. I brought my leftover broth home, I never waste a drop! Alcohol, you can choose from a beer (Sapporo) or sake. We opted for just water. Maybe an ok place for take out but I would think twice about being seated in here.

They have a good selection and apps and also noodles which are more individual meal portions but we decided to share and try everything. On Tuesdays, they have yakitori and I would love to come back to try that. The scallop crudo was lightly seasoned and fresh. I feel like it could have used a bit more citrus but overall it was good! The Korean fried chicken wings/drums were saucy, with something that tasted like a gochujang based sauce, as well as a ranch with dill. I didn't really taste the miso in the ranch too much, but I did enjoy the flavour profile. We also had the chicken karaage, which was lightly breaded and fried, and paired with a mayo. It was ok but a little plain. Next, we had the dan dan noodles. Dan dan noodles are traditionally very chewy have a nice bite to them but these noodles are a bit on the softer side. The flavour profile was good though. Lastly, we had the beast ramen. The smoked pork belly was nice and crisp and the soft boiled egg was nicely cooked. The noodles seem to be the same ones used in the dan dan noodles. It was enjoyable but the broth wasn't exactly ramen broth that I am used to. I would say that overall it was enjoyable, and prices were reasonable. Service was great. But there is definitely some room for improvement on the dishes. I would consider this more Asian fusion than a noodle bar.
