To all those seeking more Cuban cuisine in the metro area, it's time to celebrate with the (fairly)…read morerecent opening of Sabor de Mi Tierra, lovingly paying tribute to this captivating Caribbean nation at - where else? - the intersection of Federal and Alameda. The food at Sabor is made on the restaurant's food truck, but ordered and served inside the bustling and lively space just around the corner. I was faced with quite a dilemma upon entering - a good kind, as I couldn't believe how many things looked good on the menu. For example, I could have availed myself of some Ropa Vieja (shredded beef) with hunks of boiled cassava (Yuca) alongside. A nice big hunk of roast pork (Lechon Asado) or, indeed, one of their whole fish preparations also sounded incredibly tasty. But as it turns out, I decided to focus on one their less-discussed specialties, Cuban-style pizza. It arrived in a size perfect for a single diner, with the thick, chewy crust serving as a perfect vehicle for the slabs of moist, zesty chorizo which covered it. I was very impressed, as I also was by two desserts I sampled - a sweet guava-filled pastry and the classic Cuban cheese-curd dessert Dulce de Leche.
