I have seen others and you spend the same amount of money and they spend 5 minutes with you and you're on your way. Dr. Walker takes his time with all of his patients and each session is nearly 30 minutes. He warms the back up with heat or electro stimulation and then completes his adjustments and then ends with a massager. He is very into stretching to hold the adjustments and will teach you different methods. the only reason why I'm no longer seeing him, is because I'm no longer working in Davis. I'd suggest giving him a call if you are in need of a great chiropractor!

Two years ago, my family got into a huge car accident. (We're okay now, in case you care.)…read more In any case, my neck got massively misaligned, partially from the car accident (I was in the back of the car sandwich) and partly due to a gymnastics accident from the year before. You know that 's'-shaped curve you should have? My neck was apparently -26 degrees in the other direction, which would explain the severe headaches I would get (I thought it was just stress). Anyway, since our insurance was covering out medical bills (the people that hit us = illegal immigrants, so uh...yeah), and I had to go back to school, I looked up the chiropractors in Davis and came up with this one. I think I mainly picked it because I had a schedule of hell (I was taking 8 classes, I think?), so it was most accessible (by bus, since my bike wasn't working yet). I don't know how much it was exactly, but I think the prices were pretty reasonable. In any case, I'm glad I did. Ray is awesome. He'd talk to me about American Idol and my classes and such while he cracked my neck back into place, and his wife (Caren) would give me a follow-up half-hour massage. They always remembered my name (the receptionist was very friendly as well). Excellent service. I never had to wait long, and they were very understanding of my schedule. I haven't had a headache ever since. :] It was worth it to get up at unearthly hours to chase after buses.

Here's how my only other experience with a chiropractor (prior to Dr. Hartz) went: We need 14 xrays…read more($$$), omg your spine is critically defective and if you don't schedule weekly appts with us for the rest of your life ($$$) you'll be the Hunchback of Notre Dame before you're 40. Driven by fear, I bought in. Multiple visits however not only didn't improve my chronic neck pain but actually made it worse! I swore off the profession for life and accepted my fate of robotic-like swiveling whenever I wanted to look to the right. Fast-forward 10 years when a colleague (probably annoyed by my robotic-ness) mentions the fantastic experience he had with Dr. Hartz. Hunchback cynic here was not convinced but, knowing how reasonable and honest said colleague is, decided to give what I thought was quack science one last try. I am SO GLAD I did. Dr. Hartz is the real deal and has truly improved my quality of life. No xrays or lifetime commitments, just a relaxing massage, heat application, electrode stimulation and quick adjustment with hard-core RESULTS. In only two brief sessions he completely fixed my painful frozen neck...something I had been living with for over a decade! And, here's the kicker, he said, "My goal is to not see you back here again." Wait, what?! You don't want weekly $$$ from me?! I'm not going to be crippled if I don't commit the rest of my life to regular chiropractics? You just want to heal me once and for all?! Mind. Blown. Neck. Fixed. Folks, if you're in pain give this guy a try. He's thorough, empathetic, passionate about his work and driven by his desire to heal (NOT a desire to collect large, regular sums of money from people in pain). I cannot speak more highly of him or his practice. If I ever experience even a touch of lingering pain again I will be back in his office immediately. But I'm thrilled to report that it's been over a year and I've had no need to return! THANK YOU DR. HARTZ!
