Jamal is a life savor! He is hands down the best tailor I've had the pleasure working with. He tailored three dresses for me. Two were for my wedding and one was for a wedding I am a bridesmaid in. My one dress was WAY to big on me and there was no time to order another one in the correct size. I don't know how he did it but he did! He made my dresses fit perfectly and I am so pleased with the outcome. He was fast, reliable and personable. I highly recommend using Sankar Tailor if you need any tailoring done. I will most definitely be using them for future work and can't thank Jamal enough for the hard work he puts in! read more

I called a week in advance to schedule an appointment for today at 3:00 PM to have my measurements taken. During that phone call, we specifically discussed the date and time, and I was told the shop would be open and that I could come in then. When I arrived at 3:00 PM, the doors were locked and the business was closed. I called and was told that he had "just closed." This was extremely disappointing and unprofessional, especially after confirming the appointment in advance. I would not recommend based on this experience. read more

He did what no one else would.. he operated on my teddy bear. Some rogue neanderthal pulled his arm off and could not find anyone willing to try to repair him. It was handmade and Mr. Sankar couldn't even see where the stitches were because of his fluffiness but this master tailor persevered, found some special needle he hadn't used in decades and the operation went better than expected. So happy .. thank you :) read more

We were very pleased at how quickly Jamal was able to alter the dress that my daughter is wearing to her Bridal Shower. He did an excellent job getting it to fit around all her curves. He also left extra fabric so it can be taken out later if needed. Also, he's super nice! read more

Needed a dress altered as it was too big. Sankar did a fabulous job. It looks amazing! The alterations were done quickly and the cost was very reasonable. My husband had a suit tailored a while back and was also pleased with the result. We highly recommend this establishment. read more

Extremely disappointed in Sankar Tailor Shop. He charged me $200 for a hem on a bridesmaids dress and did a horrific job. It is falling apart at the bottom, he did not finish the hem, it looks like he stopped half way through. I also asked him to take in the top and he tightened the straps and said it did not need to be taken in. When I tried it on at home with the straps as tight as they could go, it was huge on me. read more

I don't often need to get my clothing adjusted, but when I do, I highly recommend this tailor shop. The location might be a little hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for. However you will be happy once you find it. I was greeted with a warm welcome and comforted by the professionalism that exists here. I actually forgot that I came here once before, but was reminded in the most funny way. It was nice to feel remembered. This is now my "go-to" place and I'm happy going here. The suit that I asked him to help fix now fits like a glove! I cannot imagine going anywhere else. Very professional and trustworthy. read more

Sankar is a life saver. I wish I knew he was around long ago bc It would've saved me thousands I've wasted on other places before finding him. I recently brought a jacket to him that the head seamstress at Nordstrom refused to work on claiming it could not be done. Sankar never questioned it. Another recent event (today).. my fiancé bought a dress for our upcoming rehearsal dinner next week in which the recommended tailor she had gone to cut it in such a way she literally could not sit in a chair among other issues. I sent her to Sankar and he was able to undo the work and fix it properly by the end of the day. He truly is a master at his craft. read more

Most recently (on a Monday), I brought in 8 dresses and a skirt to be dry cleaned. I brought up some deodorant stains on the dresses, and she told me not to worry. She then said it would be ready on Saturday but I said I was leaving town that day and she offered Friday, which I accepted. I was a little nervous paying $85 ($10/dress, $5/skirt) because I admit that I wear my stuff once or twice at least before taking them to the cleaners and the clothes had traveled with me from DC a few days earlier. Unfortunately, my $1.99 cleaners just wasn't working anymore (stuff came back seemingly pressed but not clean smelling or deodorant stain free) so I was advised by my sister to try this place for their cleaning services. The receipt said the items would be ready for pickup after 5 pm on Friday but when I came in around 1 pm, the items were ready to go. An assistant neatly placed plastic on my items, and I was out the door. When I took the clothes home, I inspected it for smell and stains. Almost nothing! No easy feat I will admit. Happy, happy. The owner who works there is a sweet Korean lady who does the tailoring. When I brought in my stuff on Monday, it started to pour. After I left, she closed her doors, which she usually keeps open to get some ventilation and fresh air. I thought it was nice she didn't rush to do that first and was attentive to my needs and time. When I returned on Friday, she and her assistant were standing outside chatting. It was cute that her assistant had to tell her I was coming in because the owner didn't notice. When she came in, she had misplaced her glasses, but I found them and pointed it out. She cutely giggled. Point is, good, friendly, reliable service. Highly recommend!

I needed a pair of pants taken in and figured I'd give this place a chance. I arrived a little…read morebefore 6 pm and the manager seemed agitated that I wanted to do business with him so close to closing time. As most business don't typically refuse work based on the fact that it is close to closing time, this should have been my first indication to leave quickly. In any event, the guy agreed to do the alteration for me out of the goodness of his heart, I assume. I picked the pants up about a week later and didn't have time to really try them on. When I got home, I realized that they were a bit too snug and needed to be let out about 1/4 inch. With my normal tailor, this would not be a problem and he would have not let me leave until I tried them on. When I returned to Mrs. Thimble, the manager was not there and the woman working the counter did not want to take care of the request. Instead, she asked that I come back later and speak to the manager. As I was in a rush and did not have much time to spare, I insisted that she take the pants and have him call me if he had any questions. Not expecting a call as the request was very simple; let the pants out, I was surprised that he called me and asked that I come back. I returned and tried on the pants to prove to him they were too tight. He asked if I put on weight. Really, after less than one week, I put on enough weight to need the pants taken out! After some back and forth, I grabbed the pants and left. My time is worth more than the $10 I paid for the alteration. Can anyone recommend a "normal" tailor in the area that takes care in their work? This place is a joke!

A literal last-minute decision to book it to this place, walk in appointment and everything for a very late prom dress alteration. It had a burgundy color to it, dark lace and some sequence overlaying on top with a string back. The dress looked challenging, an unpromising outlook in which wouldn't flatter my body type the way I had wanted it it to. It gave me more of a boxy physique when it had been loose, so that the zipper would lay flat without a pocket. I wanted it to be more tight around the torso to give a more hourglass shape, but that had resulted in extra fabric hanging over. When zipped up in the back and the strings drawn tight, it created sort of a loose pocket to peak in on. It looked hopeless, but with a few flips and tricks, the impossible had been done. I'm a very picky girl, especially with dresses and I know how I like things. I wasn't expecting it to flatter my body given the uneasy situation, but yet I stand astonished. The pocket mysteriously vanished, and the bottom back zipped up beautiful, hugging my body in all the right ways. I went in super unhappy, on the edge nervous of there not being a possibility of fixing this dress, and came out beyond ecstatic, relieved in every way there was. Overall, an amazing, sweet and joyous place with a kind, welcoming owner. Beautiful work, great prices. No other better tailor than him. read more

Absolute wonderful little gem of a place. GREAT WORK. These brothers are great at what they do and it is always a pleasure to spend time with them. Thank you both so much. I appreciate your fine work and kindness. They came highly recommended by a friend and did most of our bridal party velvet dresses which can be tricky. They also gave me a weight loss tip to lose weight fast and my goodness it actually worked ALOT its crazy. Great experience, brought in a new suit to be altered needed pants to be let out and pants to be shortened. i was about to leave my suit there, and the gentleman told me to wait that he would do the repairs while i waited. in short order the repairs were done. superb work, very fair prices, and the owner is a gentleman.
