After price checking the shirts I purchased at nearby suit retailers, the total of both shirts came out to be $75. He requested that I go to the bank across the street and bring him $150 cash. I had such an amazing experience with Karim at his alterations shop. I brought him my grandmothers 70+ year old dress and had him remove the sleeves and make it fit me a little better. From what I have seen, "Nice guy" and "Good tailor" seem to be a contradiction in terms. By virtue of their craft, tailors generally have their frown face on, especially if you are asking them to do basic alteration work that does not involve the use of their well-honed skills. Not this guy - he was happy to do whatever I wanted him to, exactly the way I wanted to. If something wouldn't work, he gently pointed it out - "return the jeans if you can, alteration will make it worse". Will keep going back. There is such a paucity of great tailors. read more

I brought 2 pieces to be tailored: a bridesmaid dress that needed to be taken in on the shoulders, bodice, and hem and a jumpsuit that needed a simple tailoring on the length. I tried both items on with the shoes I intended to wear with each. The tailor was able to turn it around quickly (7-10 days, which I thought was great). The jumpsuit was done well, though he complained (several times) about the material, which I thought was unusual. The dress was great at the top but hemmed two inches too short, which for heels, completely alters the look. In addition, he did not account for the length difference in the back of the dress where most women's derriere's will lift the dress slightly. When I pointed out that I asked for the dress to be sweeping the floor, he became annoyed and irritated, telling me I should have asked him to indicate as much. I had. For both elements he charged $180, which I thought was over the top. He does quality work, but his communication and interpersonal skills are lacking, especially when it comes to tailoring women's clothing. Would only considering using again in a pinch. read more

Amadeo took his time to thoroughly pin the dress to my exact needs. This is the place you've been looking for. I've been searching for a high quality tailor for some time, and have been repetitively disappointed by dry cleaners. Amadeo only focuses on tailoring which is what I wanted. I went in for a quick split seam (which he repaired flawlessly on the spot) and now I know I will be going there for all suit alterations/repairs in the future. He doesn't have a website (good - less distractions) so I called for hours, he was open 9-3 on Saturday, not sure what weekday hours are. I'm very happy I found this place. read more
