I've been there a few times. I'm new to sewing and bought my machine there. The customer service is not great.

I signed up for a class at Sandy's that I was very excited to take. Instead we were subjected to a very racist group discussion led by Karen and Tina, targeted specifically on "the blacks" and "the indians." This is never appropriate or acceptable, and has zero place in a quilting class. This is out of alignment with my values and I will never give Sandy's fabrics another dollar or minute of my time. read more

Ordered fabric from them last month. Quality is very poor, especially for a name brand product. Emailed them regarding my dissatisfaction. Sandy's has ignored all emails will not take my phone calls. Buyers beware. read more

I purchased my embroidery machine from Sandy and Frank, the precious owners and after having to pack the machine away for a few years, I finally was able to set it up and was looking forward to a great time. Birds nest, breaking threads, oh, my. I took it into Sandy's Fabrics and Tony greeted me with a smile and said they would take good care of it. They did. I have had the need to call Sandy's several times for enlightenment and the staff have been beyond nice and helpful. Today, Tony took the time to talk me through some techniques that were not covered in tutorials and helpful hints I found on Husqvarna sites and other places on the internet. My Viking sewing machine stopped working after my needle hit the foot ( my mistake, I should have changed the foot when I changed my stitch). Elizabeth, the owner was clear on her timelines, the process and pricing. I was expecting a call a few days later, but after just three days, I got a call from Elizabeth that the machine was fixed even though I was expecting that it would take 2-3 weeks. I purchased my sewing machine here and have returned since then to buy accessories and miscellaneous items. I've also called them to ask questions about my machine. With every call and visit, they've been helpful and knowledgeable. I'm somewhat new to sewing and they've been very patient with each question I've asked. I highly recommend this store for their knowledge and friendliness. read more

Really crappy service. I bought a viking sewing machine from them 6 months ago, and while I love my machine, their service is crap. The few times I have gone in for help, which when I bought my machine they encouraged me to do, they have been rude and condescending. Very elitist attitudes, treating me like an idiot because I am a novice seamstress and don't know a lot about sewing. Never mind that I dropped a ton of money in their store or that, as my dealer, their job is to help customers like me figure it out; they act like anytime you walk in with a question, it is the worst day of their lives and they have no time for you. Jeez, I'm sorry I interrupted your quilting marathon. While the product itself is great, I highly recommend finding a different dealer to buy it from because these people are not willing to help you in any way. read more

It's a nice shop in general. It has lots of machines they can show you how to use. Great classes that inspire you to make to satisfy your creativity. However....they like to make a sale. Even if you just purchased a machine from another source they make you feel guilty. Not very inspiring. Telling you to return an item rather than selling you more accessories that you came to their store to buy or encouraging you to take a class and then make you realize you bought the wrong machine. The idea is not to make you feel embarrassed about buying a cheap machine but making you realize it on your own that they could've given you a better deal on a machine you can grow into. I won't be back. I won't take a class now. I will use my cheaper machine but instead of feeling inspired I probably will go to another store to get a different machine because I won't feel guilt about feeling pressured from the sales person. If you go in just be prepared. It does have fabric and threads and sizzix dies (go see their quilt dies!) read more

Great people. Frank is the best when it comes to machine repair, bar none! They are knowledgeable and are willing to share their knowledge. They didn't try to sell me more machine than I needed. Not a huge selection of fabric, but a wonderful varied selection and it's all quality. Although it does take a couple of the ladies a bit to warm up to customers. Their prices are very comparable to any other high quality sewing machine store. If you want Jo-Anns quality fabric and lack of knowledge of anything in their store then go there, if you want an exceptional, quality machine and the people to teach you how to use it, then go to Sandy's. read more

I have been in this store 3 or 4 times in the past couple years. Each time I have been in there I feel like I am intruding on something. No one seems able to come over and ask if I need help. Or to try to answer any questions abut the machines. And if I happen to ask about some fabric or a quilt pattern I have heard a heavy sigh as if it was the stupidest question or the rolling of the eyes. Excellent staff support for machines and software purchases. The instructors are top notch and exhibit the patience of Job! I've purchased several machines from them since 1991. All have come with excellent class, small group, and individual support. Their special events are fun and instructional. I've met some really wonderful women (and men) through these classes and events. There is less of a "family" atmosphere at the store since Karen and Ed purchased the business from Sandy and Frank, but it's still a fun place to go where I know I'm going to get top notch instruction and support. I miss the fabric selection, but fabrics seem to be declining in all the brick and mortar fabric stores. read more

My experience with Sandy's has, so far, been acceptable. I bought a Brother, NX-2000 Innov'is in March 2014. I took a class for the machine and had hoped that it would be strictly for my kind of machine, but there were other types of them there as well, so feel that I got a decent overview, but wanted more specifics regarding my own machine. Since then, I've had several questions and they were answered informatively and politely. I have noticed, however, that MOST of these stores that sell machines, are not always the friendliest in nature, and seem to get offended if you don't buy the very best. This was not the case at Sandy's, BUT, my machine was on the higher end of the scale. The jury is out on future dealings with Sandy's. Will let you know if I have difficulties in the future! read more
