OK...so, I really wanted to give a good review here, because Sandy was kind enough to take my cat at the last minute for a shave. And seeing the other great reviews, clearly my experience was not the norm, but I have to share...because it was kind of dramatic. Anyway, I had a miscommunication with my regular groomer and got my appointment time mixed up. So, since I had my cat in the car, I thought I would take a shot in the dark and try to get him in somewhere else. I called a few other places and Sandy was the first one to agree to have me bring him in right then and there. For the quick accommodation, I give her 5 stars for sure. However, that's where the high rating ends. I got to the address, and realized it was a residence...was not expecting that. But, I get it...people do this sort of thing out of their homes, no big, so I went in. And as soon as I walked in the door, I almost fell over by the smell of the house. It was an EXTREMELY intense cat odor, and at that point, I almost walked out, but I didn't want to be rude since Sandy was being very accommodating. She took me up to her cat grooming room, which seemed pretty legit, but again, somewhat dirty and smelly. Anyway, due to the fact that my cat is elderly and blind, I asked to stay with him while she shaved him and she was fine with that. Thank GOD I did, because I have no idea how she would have gotten this shave done at all without me there. She had NO gloves or any other protection on, NO way to restrain him, and after some time with him screaming and struggling, she finally offered to put a cone on his head. I agreed because I didn't want either of us to get bit. This, of course, only upset him more and he was really struggling to get free. We let him take a few breaks, but she was only half way done with the shave, so I needed her to continue. However, at one point, she must have hit him on a sensitive spot, and he swiped at her and got her on her hand. Well, needless to say, it was pure drama from that point on...and I was actually very surprised that she acted like she had never been scratched by a cat before. Of course, I apologized profusely...I felt terrible...because I know how much a cat scratch can hurt...but the way she carried on and on was a bit much. As if that weren't enough, she basically told me she was done and that she couldn't continue. She said my cat was "too mean" (sorry...you can't tell me that every other cat you have groomed has sat still like a stuffed animal while you shave them...give me a break). Anyway, he still had his sides under his arms, and underbelly to shave...but she wouldn't finish. So, now I have a jacked up cat!! She did apologize for not being able to finish the job, but what was I supposed to do...? When I asked her how much, thinking that she wouldn't charge me the full $65 because she didn't finish the job, she did in fact ask for $65. At that point, I just wanted to get out of there...the whole scene was pretty traumatic. But, I could really kick myself now for paying full price for a job half done, and my cat now looks crazy!! read more
