This is also a great destination to view the sunrise or sunset skies and it is colorful with lots of nature. Lots of runners and walkers meet in the area in the mornings to do their daily miles. Bring a flashlight and a buddy if you workout in the earlier hours of the day or towards sunset. But great for families or your furry friends. I love Oakhurst Park…read more.. It's probably my favorite park in all of the Fort Worth area (or at least in the top 5). What it lacks in parking (you have to park on the side of the street), it makes up for in charm and serenity. This park is settled in a nice quiet part of the Oakhurst area, surrounded by very well landscaped homes, and is considered a gem to the community surrounding it (local events are sometimes held here, see URL attached). If you have small children, I encourage you to spend a nice afternoon there and have a picnic (charcoal grills and picnic tables are also available). Or if you picked up a sandwich from White Eagle Deli, I couldn't think of a more perfect spot to enjoy your lunch outside. The playground isn't large but is standard and has everything you'd expect to see (slide, swings, etc) There is a covered area with a space for what I presume is a concession stand. The playground and seating area were all we used so that is what my review is based on, definitely "A-ok" and I'd visit again. The park is in…read morevery good condition, and boasts a red barn-shaped pavillion (with restrooms!), a playground, plenty of grassy spaces, three football fields, and a concession stand. We threw a birthday party here. You can rent the pavilion through the Bowles Life Center. It costs $75 but it is yours for as long as you want. We rented it from 12pm until 11pm even though we used it until about 6pm. We wanted to be sure we had enough time to set up and break down the party decorations, etc. If you want to do anything special, i.e. pony rides or a bounce house, you can request a permit for free and party on! We had pony rides for our party. It was a blast! The bathrooms are a little worn out, as are the tables, but overall this is just a cute, fun place to bring a picnic lunch and let the kids run wild! Both days the concessions have not opened until hours after the event started. If you're going to host an event, then be there to offer services to patrons. The bathrooms are filthy and not well equipped. The worst part is the bee infestation. They are abundant and out of control, swarming the park. They need to periodically spray all the trash cans and invest in repellent. It's very hard to enjoy the games. They are not only landing all over people but also getting into food and drinks. Do better and this could be a great park!

The neighborhood that surrounds this park is so cute! It's so quiet too. The park has a tiny parking lot, so I parked and took my walk through, taking pictures. I saw three other people during my visit. Two with dogs. I was super surprised to see a huge patch of bluebonnets. You don't see those often in Dallas proper, unless on the side of the highway. The trail goes to a creek and there are some homes across the way. It's so peaceful. It's definitely worth checking out, but maybe not a destination-must-go-now. I'm happy to know this place is close by, and maybe on another nice day I could walk to it. Great job to the neighbors for putting this nature walk together. It's lovely, and a good recharge to the soul to be out in it.

Once you walk past the organized rock constructions that make the entrance, the unpaved path gets a bit rugged and poorly maintained. I didn't mind it because it created a sense of "natural wilderness" that is absent in many artificial/human-maintained parks. I saw at least 7 different bird species and plenty of squirrels in my first 5 minutes, so that was exciting. Too bad it is such a small place! I was done in less than 20 minutes.

Bleh... what a gross park. (see pics)…read more Where do I begin? Most of the equipment is broken and/or has been basically abandoned and left to the ravages of elements. There's vulgar graffiti all over the playground equipment (which is apparently next to a hazardous area), lots of broken glass in the parking areas, people who just seem to randomly drive here and park....and you can tell that other then a quick mowing there is little in the way of landscaping. They've converted a large gated area of the park from two baseball areas (one at one time use to be a baseball field - I imagine) to a handful of small soccer areas (that's the only thing I think they could be, since there are bleachers in the outfield area facing each other). If they ever get the funding to repair this park, here are 3 suggested solutions that I think they need to consider. First, build pathways within the park (it seems to be keeping the vandalism down at Haltom Road Park - which is mere blocks away). Second, move the playground area away from the creek (aka Hazardous Area). And finally, consider your areas needs. The Asian and Hispanic population is growing around this park, see what they would use it for. I don't know what else to say other then recommending that (for now) you find another park then this one (Rosebud, Broadway and Oakhurst Park are far better for kids).
