They have a self-serve area where you can make coffee (they have Keurigs, cups, creamer, sugar, etc.), as well as good cereal, oatmeal, bread/english muffins). The rooms were suites- a large sitting area with couch, two chairs, TV, and a separate bedroom. One negative- the AC unit is in the sitting area so if you close the bedroom door at night the bedroom is not cooled. You must leave the door open when sleeping. Rooms were clean- but the disinfectant/cleaner they use has a strange smell that was a bit unpleasant. Recommend they find one that smells better. Bathroom was a typical motel bathroom- sink area, toilet, shower. Overall- good accommodations at a reasonable price (considering you ARE in a resort area).

So I checked my email and had nothing from them. Thankfully someone walked in the office and asked if I needed help. They said it was a text, not an email. I didn't receive a text either. He looked up my info and the text was sent to my home phone number. So he told me my door code. I couldn't remember that code all weekend, so I had to look it up on my phone every time, I'd rather have a key. Also, he didn't tell me how to enter it, but I figured it out. My husband had more trouble when he tried lol. Every time. That keypad is very very touchy. And the kids next door, fighting over who gets to enter the code, yelled it several times. So now the whole parking lot knows their code. I guess Shaheen's is doing a lot of remodeling. I think we had a new room? But I'm not sure if it's finished. The ceilings are painted black, trying to look elegant I suppose, but looks kinda creepy. Many white paint drips / smears everywhere, unfinished carpentry, chips on the freshly painted door. New beautiful bathroom has a large sink but it's completely flat and stuff doesn't rinse down without a ton of effort. Toilet roll is a far stretch to reach. Toilet seat is sharp, really high, and uncomfortable. I know I'm sounding picky here but it was a lot. There is zero soundproofing. Thank goodness we needed the air conditioner, it helped drown out noises from neighbors and construction. For some reason, there was a man sitting in a truck, right below our back window, smoking and playing music loudly. Two nights in a row. Not sure if he was a guest or a worker or what. Public water in the area must be brownish yellow because the new toilet always looked dirty. I noticed the same water in the lobby Keurig machine. I believe the ice machine has a filter because the ice looked clear. As we were leaving, we noticed a little old lady with oxygen was having trouble getting in her door. We watched for a few minutes then asked if she needed help. She told us her door code and we showed her how to do it, but now we have her code. So dangerous if we were the type to take advantage, thankfully we're not. The only plus - my motherinlaw called the hotel to ask if they had any amenities she could purchase for our wedding anniversary. The man said no, but he'd be happy to go get whatever she wanted. She suggested champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. He said he had to go to the store anyways, and he'd make it happen. She called the night before to make sure everything worked out, and he said he forgot! Jeez! He ended up getting a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates from Adirondack Chocolates, and even a card. A very nice touch! But we definitely won't be back.

We brought my mother-in-law here to celebrate her birthday and we hoped she'd like the laid back pace of a quaint lake town and she loved it. We had rooms in the lake cottage and our room (5L) has to be the best room on the property because you have a corner view with a wraparound porch and the vistas day and night are stunning. She had 7L and she loved it as well. Our room was cleaned thoroughly every day and everything worked perfectly. The shower was awesome. A lot of times in an older property things are a bit creaky but our room was perfect (once we figured out how to turn off the temperature light on the AC at night). The only tweak I'd make to our room would be to add a ceiling fan, but that's just a personal preference. We had massages at the spa and that was nice. I had a great masseur and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the spa afterwards. There is an indoor pool area with a jacuzzi and an outdoor hot tub. Apparently there used to be an outdoor pool but that was removed a couple of years back. That would have been nice. We ate at the View, the Cottage and the bar and I've reviewed the restaurants separately. The bar was a great place for some shared snacks and desserts along with excellent cocktails and wonderful service. I loved just sitting on a rocking chair in a small screened in porch off the main lobby reading a book. It was so peaceful. The study area has tables and a fireplace and that was a wonderful setting to write cards to friends. As you can tell, we loved it here. There are some caveats: It's not cheap (though it's worth it, in my opinion) and parts of the main building are a bit worn and/or dated. However, the service is great from everyone, the place is spotless and comfortable and the vibe is exceptional. I've never wanted to stay any place longer as much as I wanted to stay at Mirror Lake Inn. I really want to come back in winter to see what it's like. This was simply a lovely experience from beginning to end.

Free filtered water machine to refill your water bottle. Sits right at the start of Main Street so town, the Olympic Center and Mirror Lake are nearby. We had 2 queens suite with mountain view. Ground floor. Would have liked to see what view was from upper level room, but even with ground floor our deck faced the mountain and wasn't obscured. Room to improve - No vending machines or even water to buy. While they do offer a free filtered fountain for bottle refills, sometimes you just want a new bottle. Minor issue. My father was a…read morestressed-out executive at GE and the Waldheim was exactly what he was looking for: no telephones, no tv, no noise, very few motor boats. It was heaven for him. My mother loved the food in the dining room, especially the pies. My grandfather loved the three hearty meals per day and the walk through the woods to go to the dining hall. My grandmother loved to sit in an Adirondack chair and look at the lake. Every morning at sunrise, Duane --- a jack of all trades -- would come in and make a fire in our fireplace. I slept on a rollaway bed in the living room, and I was always awake when Duane came in. The morning fire warmed up the water heater that stood behind the fireplace and it took the chill off the room. My grandfather woke up early, and he'd come out of his bedroom and every morning he'd call Duane by the name Larry. My grandfather and I would get dressed and hit the trail early to reach the dining room precisely when it opened. We'd walk up to the porch and a waitress would ring a large bell to let the resort know they were open. We could smell wood burning in the fireplace, bacon frying, coffee brewing, bread baking and pancakes on the griddle. By the time we were finished with breakfast, my parents would arrive with my grandmother and we'd all enjoy the rising sunlight dappling off the lake. When I looked through contemporary photos of the Waldheim today, I swear nothing has changed. Green water glasses in the dining room, canoes from the boat house on the dock, hikes to nearby lakes for picnics, fishing and swimming off docks in front of the cottages, reading lamps in the windows....it's all still there, unchanged and charming. When we stayed in Longview, we chased a huge white catfish around North Bay but we didn't catch it for years. When we did, we took a Kodak black and white photo of it that I still have. We spent hours canoeing around, floating through massive populations of exotic water lilies with massive blooms that were forbidden by law to pick. As we canoed, we would look down and see fish swimming lazily below us. I remember dragon flies darting around us, dipping to the surface and leaving circles like rain drops. At night, we would play cards and read. No tv. Everyone drank, and in those days my father would take an ice pick and break off large chunks of ice from a bin on the front porch. He'd carry the chunks to the bathroom sink and chop it up into cube-sized pieces. The ice had been cut from the lake in the winter and stored between layers of sawdust in the ice house down the road. All of our senses came alive at the Waldheim and, 47 years later, the smells and sunlight and canoeing across a silent bay all come back to me as some of my best memories of childhood.
