Steamboat Landing - Sunset by the main lawn

Steamboat Landing

If you're looking for a place that's peaceful, cozy, and genuinely welcoming, Steamboat Landing in…read moreBlue Mountain Lake is a gem. From the moment we pulled onto the property, we felt right at home. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, lakeside cabins, Adirondack chairs by the water, a firepit at sunset, and all built with Adirondack charm and comfort in mind . Many of the suites come with full kitchenettes, and there are cottages, cabins, and even a unique Icehouse suite if you want something special . What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality from Jeff and his son Ethan. They both are always willing to go above and beyond. We stayed in a room on the second floor with a small kitchenette, a comfortable queen bed, a private bath, and a lovely deck overlooking the lake. There were kayaks and canoes ready for us to explore the clear, clean waters right on site . The property is clean, low‑key, and perfectly relaxed. What you get is a wonderful balance of solitude and genuine family‑run service, and it's walking distance to the Blue Mountain Lake museum, local hikes, and a couple of diners and markets . In short: five stars all around, not only for the beautiful Adirondack setting and comfortable lodging, but especially for how Jeff and Ethan treated us. If you appreciate thoughtful hospitality and want a truly restorative stay, Steamboat Landing is your place. Highly recommended.

It's a magical place. At night, it's very quiet and the lake, pristine. I was born in the Adirondacks and this spot brings me back home.

But obviously the owner of the Blue Mt Lake Inn could care less about anything else that occurs on his property. I'm not new to this area. I've been staying on this street for over 53 years, since I was a baby, I've stayed in almost every place here, and I understand the difference between "adirondack rustic" and "boardinghouse hovel" . This was the latter. The huge problem we had here was the July 4th "frat party" that began at midnight until 5 am, including the outside bonfire that we watched them douse with gasoline throughout the night. We watched in fear that this over 100 year old property would torch, with us in it. They all looked underage and they drank, fought with each other, and meandered throughout the house...there were no locks on any of the bedroom doors, or even the house itself. And through the night we phoned the police 3 times, though I never did hear them come. When I got up at 8:00 there they all were, sleeping it off throughout the house. We were beyond angry but not knowing these kids, we didn't want a confrontation. We called the owner at the number provided for us, which was answered by Hudson River Rafting Co, which the owner, Mr. Cunningham, apparently owns too. Talked to someone, explained everything, and of course the owner never called us back. I was fortunate that many of my family members were staying at Faxons cabins, and we spent most of our time there. You have been warned- don't do any business with the Cunninghams.

I arrived and fell in love with the Inn =the history, personality and charm of the place made me instantly smile ! My room was perfect ; my bed was so very comfortable- that i found it very hard to leave in the mornings. There were outlets even on the porch if i wanted wifi. Breakfast was delicious and there were lots of varieties of foods to eat . Being across the street from a beautiful lake was very nice -since i would go to the lake between rainfalls. The huge porch was so inviting and comfortable to spend a rainy day on . I have never been to a more relaxing , healing place ! I've saved the BEST for last =Meredith , the Innkeeper and her neighbors have got to be some of the nicest people I have ever met !!. Meredith thinks of everything to make your stay perfect ! I felt right at home and pampered immediately ! I hated leaving the Inn and cant wait to go back !! P.S. = If you like dogs = you will LOVE Mango= the Inns resident mascot !

The walls are paper thin and you hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms. The staff is rather rude to deal with on the phone as well as in person. We come up to Long Lake every February as past of a large group (~100 people) for an extended weekend of Geocaching events around the area and there are only three real options for lodging this time of year in Long Lake ...Shamrock Motel, Adirondack Hotel, and the Quackenbush's Long View Wilderness Lodge (Hotel). We have stayed at all three and The Shamrock falls dead last of the three for us. They charge around the same as the Adirondack, more than the Quackenbush and you get the least amount of amenities of the three. Friends of ours stayed here again this year (this past weekend) and while we stayed at the Quackenbush, we visited our friends here and reconfirmed our decision of why we wouldn't stay here ourselves again. Our friends agreed. Some even changed reservations from here to the Quackenbush. If you have to stay here though, I'd recommend the cabins out back behind the motel. They are a little rough but at least you get some privacy and they have kitchenettes for cooking if you so desire. A bit pricey though for those and only a couple are winterized. There are more available in the Summer. They have free WiFi but signal is only good if you are in a room adjacent to the office or down in one of the cabins. If you are in a room at either end of the motel then signal is very week and prone to dropping off. There is no restaurant or bar onsite like at the other two options.

Simple accommodations fitting to the area. (There are no Hiltons in Long Lake by any means!) Sand beach has lovely dock and swim area providing chairs, sand toys for the kids, rental kayaks, canoes, and motor boats. Beautiful view of mountains, including Owls Head, which proved a challenging hike! Head down to the beach before sunset to watch the sun drop behind the mountains. Cabins all have large decks, some views better than others. Good beds, efficient kitchen with everything we needed to cook a number of meals. Excellent TV with any channels we might want. We did laundry while there, next to a game room with ping pong. Attentive staff work tirelessly maintaining the grounds.
