First time staying at Nelson's Cottages and so glad we made the choice. We stayed in a motel unit for two nights. All linens provided (sheets, pillows, towels) which made it convenient for our short stay. If there was anything else needed, Julie, the owner, had it covered. She was wonderful to work with. Anything you may need Nelson's had it covered from crockpots to gas/ charcoal grills. Kids took advantage of the basketball area and ping-pong table. Kayaks were available for use as well as paddle boards or canoe. Location was perfect as a walk into town took less than 10 minutes and saved on trying to find a place to park. Many hiking trails/mountains in the area and short drive to towns just outside the area. oh, and the best place to view the sunsets were right there on the dock!! We hope to stay again next year!

I love having the opportunity to stay at Nelson's Cottages! I've stayed here on 3 different occasions and enjoyed every one! The cottages range in size from "teeny" to quite spacious. The last time I stayed in the Rhode Island cottage. I LOVED the big window that swung open and let in the glorious Adirondack breeze. There are a number of windows making the room very light. It's just one room and has one bed and nice size bathroom. The grounds are beautiful! Buy some peanuts and watch the cute chipmunks come by and stuff them in their cheeks! The grounds by the lake are beautiful! Check out my pictures. Oh, and it's a short drive (you could even walk to downtown Inlet) I can't wait to stay there again!

The Great Pines .....The Great DISAPOINTMENT!!!…read more I am an old customer of the former North Woods INN which is now under New Ownership, GREAT PINES. I LIve 4hours SOUTH in NYC. North Woods was well worth the journey and the Karoke {wkends) was special! Staff friendly and extremely helpful--stayed at the inn Four(4) occasions! I booked a reservation in February 2023 for May2023--a group of six(6) in Three(3) KING ROOMS(@ $280.00 each). I did not hear or have any communication with THE PINES until I CALLED THEM five (5) days before Our arrival in May. I spoke with a fast-talking employee who informed me that the KITCHEN was closed until June One-also the kitchen at the pub bar located just outside the main lodge. I was also branded"rude" by her because of my concerns. I also tried to calm us BOTH down but, SHE was having none of it! Our conversation ended on a very sarcastic " have a nice day!" The whole resasoning of traveling to this resorts was the Fact that ONE DID NOT HAVE TO DRIVE while eating and having a few drinks--NO DUi ! I called leaving a message for the OWNER(S) which was not addressed.. I did not persue a Refund for the monies put down for the reservations--THIS REVIEW is worth the price of Saving even one person from booking a stay. It is a very sad commentary to experience this unprofessional business attitude towards new and/or old customers. What kind of RESORT lets you Book in Advance and then Closes their kichens for renovations?? And dont inform their outstanding reseservation until way past the cancellation period?? Good Luck if this place remains your choice--stay in touch with them especially if you re coming to them from a distance.

The owners are really nice and they keep the cottages really clean. The big plus about these places is they are more up to date than all the "House Keeping" cottages that dot the area. I can't speak for all the cabins, but ours was updated and had the loveliest amenities, and it was spacious! All of the windows open and there is a screen door so you can let in the fresh air, but there is also an AC/heater so you will be comfortable. A full fridge, gas range, microwave, toaster, and coffee pot in the kitchen with every dish, utensil, or piece of cookware you could need. The toilet and shower are in the bathroom and just outside there's a little alcove with a huge countertop and sink and very large mirror. There's a large kitchen table with four chairs, two armchairs facing the television, and a roomy closet. It really is like a small apartment. (Actually, I had a small apartment and it didn't have nearly as much storage space.) Tons of drawers in the bathroom and bedroom area as well. Bed was a little uncomfortable, but everything was better than I expected so I wasn't upset about it. The proprietor is so nice!! Very helpful, full of recommendations. And the location is just in the center of town so it's close to any shopping or restaurants, and just a short drive or bike ride even from the water park, and only 15 min drive from Adirondack Woodcraft Camps (which is where my friends wedding was). You have to keep in mind this is similar to an Air BnB in that there's no housekeeping during your stay and you are responsible for tidying up after yourselves before you leave, washing your dishes, taking out your trash, etc. which wasn't so bad because hello, I'm not a pig. If you are, probably you shouldn't stay here anyway. But, highly recommend! I even mentioned to my boyfriend that I'd really like to stay again next summer and make a longer vacation out of it!

After 42 miles on the trail individuals in the group had some equipment issues that needed immediate attention before committing to the next 45 mile section of trail. We were not anticipating staying in Piseco but it was a must. We approached this picturesque historical Adirondack property (not far from Piseco Bob's and the NPT trailhead) after 4 days on the trail... without a shower... to inquire about rooms to sort our issues in a dry place. We smelled like a gang of wet bears that just emerged from hibernation... wandering a hot landfill for food; absolutely repulsive. The inn keeper, Jen, is very accommodating to hikers. She was able to rent us 3 rooms (cheaper than any mainstream hotel ...anywhere on the planet), offered us hot coffee, and assisted us in finding laundry services to clean our heavily punished clothing. We were also invited to the $12 breakfast buffet and told to make ourselves at home while on the property (kayaks, beach, porch, etc). Jen and her staff are amazing humans and infinitely accommodating. They are truly the unsung trail angels of the NPT.

Upon entry you're instantly clear about the fact that you are on a property with a rich history - one that was probably built from the lumber of the trees right there on its lake. A property that has withstood all the tests of time. A property that is also very much haunted. Yes, I said it! The Woods Inn has disembodied energies! The property has a ghost (or two, or three) running around, as I PERSONALLY saw the shadow of something or someone in the upstairs hallway coming right at me like it knew my first and last name or something. And this was BEFORE Charlie confirmed that, yes, there are some unexplained things & beings hanging around the spot. If you are a hiker, the Rocky Mountain Trailhead isn't too far. So that's a plus. The Woods Inn, and Charlie & co., deserves all of the success that they have been blessed to experience, and given the opportunity this Winter, I would love to plan another visit. Fingers crossed!
