All throughout you will notice the historic feel from the architectural details. Room and bedding- luxurious linens made for a very restful slumber. The bath products are by lockwood, a very high end soap, shampoo and lotion that leave you feeling refreshed. Fitness center- spacious with nice equipment. This includes a rowjng machine, multiple high end treadmills and a fully functioning cable tower. Campfire restaurant - we had breakfast included so had a limited menu but the food was very nice. All three items - yogurt parfait, pancakes and the egg dish were delicious and we always felt like we got our moneys worth. Staff - helpful, friendly, welcoming. They advised thoughtfully on dining options and local attractions. great hall - the hotel's "Great Hall" is an expansive bar and lounge that is really nice. The massive leather sofas, high ceilings, and wood throughout makes you feel like you've been sent back in time as royalty. Bonus -a wooden shuffleboard set and piano. Lastly they have several information boards near the fitness center that tell you about the rich history of the area and the hotel including its haunted past! Spooky yet fun! Do not worry the spirits are harmless!

She was charming, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to share what to do and where to go. My fiancée and I ended up chatting with her almost every day we saw her, not because we needed help, but because she consistently pointed us to the best experiences and shared her own local insights. Absolute gem of an employee. Sam, her coworker, was also lovely and welcoming. We also spent several nights hanging out at The Camp Fire, which quickly became one of our favorite spots. We were lucky enough to meet Tyler, who provided fantastic table-side service -- attentive, friendly, and on point every time. And then there's Danny... we first met her at the 2nd floor bar and later again at The Camp Fire. She was warm, engaging, and made us feel instantly at home. We swapped stories, laughed, and she even gave us great recommendations for our next visit (yes, we're absolutely coming back). Hotel Saranac isn't just a beautiful place to stay, it's filled with people who genuinely care about making your visit special. Huge thanks to the entire team for such a memorable experience.

Ampersand Bay Resort -- A Lakeside Launchpad for Adventure and Relaxation…read more We stayed at Ampersand Bay Resort the night before -- and the night after -- our big hike up Mt. Marcy. It turned out to be the perfect basecamp for both adventure and recovery. Tucked right on the shores of Lower Saranac Lake, this spot combines rustic Adirondack charm with a sense of comfort and calm that hits just right after 12 hours on the trail. Location, Location... Lakefront You can't beat the setting. The resort sits on 28 peaceful acres along the lake, with stunning views and direct access to the water. We stayed in the Saranac Suite, perched above the on-site Sunset Bistro (more on that later). With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and five beds, it was a perfect fit for our group of five. The suite includes a full kitchen with a Viking range -- which we mostly used for coffee, post-hike wine, and storing trail snacks. Despite being above the restaurant, the suite was incredibly quiet. We never heard a thing. Mornings and evenings were spent in Adirondack chairs overlooking the lake, unwinding, laughing, and soaking in the view. It's the kind of peaceful, communal space that makes you want to linger. A Rustic Feel -- and That's a Good Thing Let's set expectations: This isn't the Four Seasons or some polished modern lodge -- and that's not the goal. Ampersand Bay delivers a comfortable, clean, and authentic Adirondack experience. Think cozy rather than luxe, with wood accents, nature all around, and yes, a dirt parking lot -- because you're in the mountains, not Midtown. It's charming without pretending to be something it's not, and the vibe fits the setting beautifully. Boating Made Easy One of the best parts of our stay? Taking out a pontoon boat to explore Lower Saranac Lake. The process was seamless, the boat was spotless, and we were out on the water in no time. It was the perfect way to kick off our trip and get into that vacation state of mind. Hospitality That Feels Personal A huge part of what makes Ampersand Bay shine is the people. Brian, the GM, couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming, or genuinely kind. He clearly leads by example, because every single staff member we met was warm and friendly. I always say hospitality starts at the top -- and Brian walks the walk. It's rare to feel so at home at a resort, but that's exactly what we experienced. Sunset Bistro -- A Must-Visit We also had dinner at the Sunset Bistro, located right downstairs. Let me just say -- don't skip this spot. It changed my whole perception of resort dining. The food, wine, service, and views came together for a magical post-hike meal that I'll be thinking about for a long time. You can read my full review on Google or Yelp, but in short: this is a destination-worthy restaurant in its own right. Get a reservation. Final Take If you're planning a trip to Saranac Lake, Ampersand Bay Resort should absolutely be on your shortlist -- if not the only place on your list. It's a rare mix of relaxed charm, thoughtful amenities, unbeatable location, and sincere hospitality. Whether you're climbing a mountain, cruising the lake, or just looking to unplug for a few days, this place delivers.

We were glad we stayed here despite some imperfections. This voco-Saranac hotel is newish and right on the shore of Lake Flower, at the Saranac Lakes. We chose this hotel to celebrate a special birthday and to quickly access the Adirondack railtrail for bicycling. The drive to voco passes through gorgeous areas of lakes and small mountains. Note that there is no cell phone reception in some spots. We had plenty at the hotel itself. The hotel verges on being too big for the small lake. (Ads make it look like it is in remote wilderness, but it is more of a cute town center). Traffic was unexpectedly busy at the end of June, before the peak. There are plenty of restaurants, an Aldi's and a Stewarts nearby for convenience. Quaint Shops are in nearby Lake Placid (which is exceptionally hilly for walking and NOT bicycle-friendly). Seemingly 0 diversity! This hotel is Beautiful and Spacious throughout its first floor. (Note that there are NO guest rooms on first floor. They have two elevators. One was being repaired during our stay). They are fairly strict about their 4pm check-in. We tried ~noon when we arrived and the desk guy said he could not yet accommodate us NOR give us the complimentary chocolate, lol. We were able to check-in at 3:15pm, after our bike ride. Unfortunately it took about 20minutes to get through. There was a line, the computer was slow, and there was a form to fill out. They charge an extra $100 as security which you get back. There is a dock and sitting areas outside but also goose-poop and lots of sun. The sidewalks en-route from parking lot to the front entry had condensate water, a hose, and several fake-shrub-covered boxes to navigate. So do drop off any mobility-impaired guests and luggage right at the front door before parking. There is an attached restaurant/bar that offers an $18 buffet breakfast. It is too expensive, but the blueberry pancakes, real scrambled eggs with tomato, and fruit salad with super-fresh raspberries were delightful. Fast, healthy & delicious and lots of room to sit. Our Lakeview room on the 4th floor was beautiful, with a lovely small sitting area to view the lake. Stylish light fixtures and chairs. The bathroom was clean and handsome, despite the toilet being the only thing you can see as you enter! The multi-setting shower head had good water, but it was hard to wash certain body parts. When I tried to adjust the shower head, it became loose and a geyser squirted up to the ceiling and onto the clothes hanging on the door hook. The towels, robes, and bed linens were all super-white and clean, and extra blankets were provided. The pillows and TV were good. The sheets and comforter came up far enough. But we both slept poorly. Maybe the beds were too soft, with a foam topping that heated up? Or the AC let the room get too hot before turning on? Or maybe we had exercised or eaten too much? IDK. The Keurig-type machine made decent coffee in the AM, with recyclable pods. There was a minifridge but no microwave. Drawers but no dresser or desk. A phone but no pen and pad. The toiletries were nice although highly perfumed. Checkout was routine. We got a printed receipt at the desk.

There is an amazing view of the saranac lake and it was very relaxing with ample parking everywhere. We had access to a icecream store just 3 minutes walk away. The rooms were clean, though the ventilation wasn't that good. The nextdoor neighbor had a baby and the diaper smell permeated into our room. The mini fridge in the room didn't have a freezer, and the house keeping didn't maintain our bathroom and replace toilet paper, but that's just if I had to be picky about it.

After we decided we would not be staying at the Hotel Saranac (after staying there for several years), we really wanted to find a local place that was very low-pressure and friendly. Amanda's seriously fit the bill. It is more affordable than most of the other properties in town, and the owners are super friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. They even set out coffee in the small lobby every morning. Can't say enough good things about these folks. Keep in mind, this isn't the Ritz - It's an old-school 1960s style roadside motel, and guests should be aware of that. We find that sort of thing charming, and even though it is an older property, it is absolutely spotless and well kept. If we ever need a local place again, this is where we will be staying.

The rooms were cozy and comfortable, and both of the owners went out of their way to give us great recommendations. The location is great - right across the street from Lake Flower and a short walk from downtown Saranac Lake. The illuminated ice palace right down the street was also an added bonus (if you visit during or after the Winter Carnival). If you are looking for an affordable and convenient motel with friendly hosts, Amanda's is the place to stay! There are plenty of botique hotels and B&Bs in the area, but you won't get as much bang for your buck anywhere else. I highly recommend a stay at Amanda's Village Motel to anyone who is planning on visiting the lovely town of Saranac Lake.

I decided on…read morethis inn because of it's location just outside the central part of Saranac Lake and its proximity to trails I wanted to hike (St. Regis & Ampersand). The price was a little higher than I would typically pay for a stay like this, however, I do think that the ammenities they offer make up for this. 1. The small ice room off the main building is VERY convenient. They have a very clean and easy to use ice box and water filling station. If you're hiking and you want to stock up on water, you're going to be happy. 2. You are able to take kayaks out for a paddle on the lake without additional reservation - just grab a life jacket and put in the water - it's shallow right near the inn so you can easily get in and out without falling in if that's something you're worried about. 3. A well kept pool that is comfortable and enjoyable on those sultry summer days in the ADK 4. Tennis rackets and bikes (both of which we didn't use, but could have) make it easy for you to get out and active during your stay. Staff persons were very kind, helpful and at your service. I couldn't have asked for more. The room we had was #43 and whie it didn't have a particularly great view (it was the parking lot), we could easily go outside and see the lake right outside our door. There are chairs outside the room so you can sit and relax outside. The sunset over the lake is quite beautiful and on our last night there, we went and sat in the grass by the lake to take it all in. The room was small but sufficient - clean and comfortable. The bathroom is small but functional and there was plenty of hot water with good pressure. The beds were comfortable enough, I would only have wanted a more fluffy pillow. This is a perfect little family style motel on the lake. It has a great location, plenty of ammenities and friendly people. You're not getting first class ultra luxury, but you're getting a simple and relaxing stay with all the best Saranac Lake and the ADK has to offer. Would definitely stay here again.
