Our family of 4 stayed here for a long weekend. We chose the premium view which was great and totally worth the price. The room was clean and updated. The location of the hotel is great because it's right on the main drag so food and shopping is an easy walk. The main resort's outdoor pool is nice, love the 8 foot deep end. They also had some kid related activities which was a bonus and the free afternoon cookies were a big hit. The staff were great, very friendly and professional. The gym needs some love but it definitely gets the job done. We will definitely stay here again. read more

Centrally located, it's a beautiful property. It has different wings and each wing has indoor heated pool in it. There rooms are great size and beds are comfortable. Rooms open up to a courtyard with an outdoor pool and easy access to the Main Street. Great views of the mountain and lake. They provide free parking and WiFi for the guests. It's called resort: but there's not much to do inside the resort. But it's located centrally and accessible to everything around. read more

This was our first time staying here, it was recommended to us by a relative. We only stayed a night but really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean upon arrival and the kids enjoyed both pools. A wonderful, dog-friendly resort in the heart of Lake Placid, directly on Mirror Lake! A more budget friendly option than the Mirror Lake Inn next door, we will likely be staying here for all future trips to LP. There's multiple pools, four different properties to choose from, fun seasonal activities, and walkable access to all of Lake Placid's businesses and offerings. We stayed at the Waterfront Collection for our visit, and would highly recommend this option if you're looking to travel with your furry friend. We had direct access to the grassy courtyard to let our pup out, and we loved being right on the water (the resort proper is also lovely, but across the street). The BATHROOM was the highlight! While the interior of the double queen room we booked itself was a lil lodge-drab, the bathroom was magnificent. Huge jacuzzi tub, gorgeous waterfall shower, and large vanity to store items. We paid a few dollars more a night for a view of the LAKE and not the POOL, and this was worth it as well. Booking directly on their website is slightly confusing if you don't know to use the drop down links. Extreme construction during our visit made things REALLY unpleasant during check in (and throughout our stay). While this isn't the hotel's fault, the only indication I got that Main St construction was happening was in my "you're coming in a week" email. Even then it was in small print at the bottom, with a "map" that didn't help much in terms of the chaos we drove into upon arrival. Additionally, nowhere in my research for the trip did it say "FYI - most of the town shuts down for two weeks in April." Maybe this is just common knowledge but it seem seems like something the tourism sites, hotels, and town should do a better job of making crystal clear. We were disappointed to find the town itself to be more or less a ghost town with the majority of attractions and businesses closed or inaccessible. I would say DEFINITELY keep the construction in mind if you're thinking about staying here and travelling within the next season or so. I look forward to visiting High Peaks again in a couple of years when the construction is (hopefully?) over and the town is more alive! Overall, this is an excellent property. read more

We absolutely loved our stay here. We got a great deal via TravelZoo to stay as a family of 3 (two adults and a small child). The resort offered so much, from delicious cookies and champagne at check-in (such a nice touch!) to the pools, kayaking, and other activities. Parking was easy, the location was superb with easy walkability to absolutely everything, and the view from our room with our private balcony was unbeatable. Absolutely recommend! read more

One of the best resort I've been to. The main reason being the amenities and the bathroom shower. I love the option of rain shower and hand held shower head at the same time. Most hotels only offer one option. The waterfront kayak was an experience on its own. I was able to get on mirror lake and enjoy nature. Great spot for our getaway. We felt safe and relaxed during our stay in lake placid. COVID-19 safety protocols were great at our resort. We enjoyed the bar for lunch and I had an excellent massage at the resort spa. The staff was friendly. Our room was on the 5th floor facing the lake. The room was like new since they just had renovations recently. We will be back! Side note- they offer free kayaks but it's busy and first come first serve, so we rented right next door for a reasonable price and was readily available at 10am. read more

Then we met Tony at the bar the second day we came in 5 minutes before the bar closed for an hour after lunch , you would have never known. Booked a weekend at this resort (the resort itself, not the lake house next door) and it was fantastic. Only $345 for Fri-sun and they offered complimentary champagne on arrival, gym had the standard equipment, and the room came with an outdoor patio with a great view of the street and the scenery. Went with my friend for a facial and massage for her birthday. After my friend was brought in for her massage I was informed that the stylist for my facial hasn't had contact and didn't know if they'd arrive. I waited another 10 minutes. No show. We traveled 2.5 hours to come for the weekend. Very disappointing and was only offered two small sample lotions as an apology. Friendly staff and beautiful lobby area. In the morning they provide coffee and in the afternoon there were hot chocolates and soft cookies. Overall, our room was clean. But the bathroom floors had dust & hairs in the corners. We got a superior view king room on the second floor... and if you can, ask for the highest floor because you will hear EVERYTHING from upstairs!! Not to mention most of their rooms are connecting rooms so we pretty much listened to our next door's movies until 10PM. We probably will look into other hotels if we decide to visit Lake Placid again, unless we can guarantee a 5th floor room. read more

First time staying here. Way more then I expected. When I checked in they offered us a glass of Champagne. Which was great. Beautiful lobby with coffee in the morning and lemonade and cookies in the evening. Plenty of seating also. The room was completely awesome. Beautiful view of the lake, big screen TV, comfy bed, big bathroom, and a huge couch. Wish the had a microwave standard the rooms to use. There was also a mini fridge and plenty of storage. There are 4 pools you can use. Only found 3 our of the 4. We ate in the restaurant one night because they gave us a 10% coupon off a meal. When we checked out we were hit with a $10 service fee extra bill. Not to sure what that was all about. Over all, great place to stay, right on Main Street. I will definitely return. read more

The closeness to the Main Street as well as lake placid was great. It was clean and although the inside pool was about 100 degrees, the outdoor pool looked gorgeous but wasn't seasonal. We're giving it only three stars for a few reasons- 1. When we got here they gave us our room keys which was actually someone else's room, with their belongings were in. 2. There was a wedding the night we came and they leave the reception doors open in the lobby so there was basically no lobby for hotel guests because it becomes part of the wedding. 3. Located in walking distance of everything in downtown Lake Placid, beautiful rooms (many with views of Mirror Lake and the mountains---request a higher one if a view and balcony is important, or a courtyard level if you want to avoid stairs/elevator and want to have easy access to courtyard pool from your sitting area), gorgeous bathrooms (some with tvs and all with stereo so you can hear the tv while in there---this seems to be a large perk for many of my guy friends), ample parking, great amenities (multiple indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, lakefront grassy area with complimentary kayaks-rowboat-pedal boats), friendliest and most helpful staff and management, delicious treats around check in time every day (cookies and lemonade/hot chocolate depending on the season), pet friendly rooms (all but one floor), I could go on and on! Granted, we are a little biased about our love of High Peaks as we recently got married there, but it really is a topnotch resort that will allow you to experience the best of Lake Placid. In the summer months, the access to the lake front area and water equipment is enough to spur us to spend the extra money to stay here. To clarify, there are rooms in the main High Peaks building, across the street from the lake (most higher up rooms will have spectacular views). There is also a waterfront building, which has waterfront suites (right on the lake with balconies, large rooms with large whirlpool tubs) and waterfront rooms (overlook the grassy area/lake as well, but about half of them face the pool so the view is greatly obstructed--may want to ask about this if you go for this type of room!). read more

Stayed here for a work related conference. I was assigned to a room with 2 double beds. It was located on the first floor with a view of the pool. It was also handicap accessible so the bathroom was slightly awkward. Water pressure was strong. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. I didn't use any of the 4 pools located on the property but I did use the gym facility which although small had everything you may need when traveling. The lobby was nice, I'm sure the fireplace is nice in the winter. We also had drinks at the Dancing Bear, a restaurant on site with a beautiful glass rotunda that is perfect for people watching. A note about the meeting rooms. Major disappointment that there were no plugs on the tables, only around the periphery of the room. There was free wifi, which is an absolute must. Location is excellent for access the the main drag with food, shopping, and entertainer. They also have kayaks and paddle boats onsite that are free for guests to use that I would highly recommend. I would stay here again, as long as the rate was reasonable. Insider tip: they have lemonade and cookies in the lobby in the afternoon that are delicious and seemed to disappear quickly. They also have coffee in the morning, although I don't drink coffee, the friend I was with said it was no good and instead ran next door to a cafe with a much better cup of Joe . read more

We had a beautiful view from our room on an overcast fall day. It's a very quick walk to Main St Where there are many shops and restaurants. Stop in the book store - it was the most interesting. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. Wifi was very slow and I had to call for help to connect. The king size bed was very comfortable. The shower was luxurious but the toilet seat skewed. All in all, it was ok but a bit pricey. read more

I really liked the soft chocolate chip cookies they had in their lobby!! Haha. It's right next to some hot cocoa, too. We stayed across the street at the Lakeview Inn, which is still part of the High Peaks Resort (you still have to check in there!). The room was HUGE, it even had a walk-in closet, haha. There's a fridge available, private balcony, etcc...oh and the heater works really well which is good to know for 15 degree weather outside! We had a great view of the river, too. They also have an indoor pool, hot tub and game room. read more

Coming from the Lake House to the High Peak . Not good . To you can hear everything in the hallway the pool was packed the lobby as well . It was more of a fancy feeling then homey . If we come back again definitely going to go to the Lake House it was awesome away from home. read more

I fear for anyone going to this hotel. There are so many dogs!!!!The barking is incessant. The dogs are HUGE. (Note-Dogs bite small children so be careful when walking around the hotel. A local plastic surgeon continuously operates on children who have suffered dog bites). While leaving the hotel to purchase cortisone cream to alleviate itching from the room, I exited the elevator and a pit bull turned away from its owner (who was checking in) and ran towards me and lunged at me. If the owner had not reacted to grab ahold of the leash, the ferocious dog would have gone for my face! I asked to speak to the manager who was very gracious and pleasant. Nonetheless the dog policy is what it is.... I am not sure when hotels throughout the area became kennels... this one has lost its goal of guest comfort. It is all about the dogs! read more

We came here for the evening and we're pleasantly surprised that our room was actually on the water! The fireplace and balcony were a wonderful touch! The room was very spacious and located so close to town. Kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boats, a pool and a dock! What more could you ask for! The main hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The amenities and location are wonderful! Our only disappointment was the cleanliness of the room. There were Chex mix crumbs underneath the chair, starbursts near the bed, and toothpaste stuck to the bottom of the "new" soap boxes. The bed and pillows were mediocre at best. I am certainly not picky, but most hotel beds are out of this world. The bathroom appeared slightly under construction. There were small drilled holes in the wall, which were stuffed with toilet paper. The bathroom fan was inoperable. Now, I was a house keeper at one point in my life and worked at many different hotels, from marriott's to comfort inns; the rooms were always thoroughly inspected by a supervisor, after being cleaned. I am not sure this happened here. However, I do understand that mistakes happen and sometimes things are overlooked. We are all human. It's not an easy job and I give credit to those in this field, which is why I left them a tip. While we were disappointed with some minor cleanliness issues, we would certainly return back and I would definitely recommend the hotel. Mistakes happen. Rating this place 2.5 but I'll round it up to a 3. My partner and I visited the area this past weekend and stayed at this "resort." The room was nice, bed was comfortable, and the room had a decent view. Not a direct view of the lake as you look down onto rooftops and main street buildings. If you would like a better view opt for a place lakeside or on the other side of the main street. We saw many other options in the area with better views. Also, when we opened the door to the balcony, we did smell firewood smoke but not sure where that comes from(lobby fireplace?). The resort had a nice gym with several treadmills and other machines. The resort is definitely family friendly, you will see and hear kids. For parents, this is a nice place as they offer hot cocoa and cookies as well as a movie events and popcorn. However, customer service was poor and impersonal from one of their front desk reps. I don't recall her name as she never introduced herself and wasn't wearing a name tag like most other employees were. She was brash and not polite/kind at multiple encounters to both myself and my partner. Other representatives were nice and a gentleman quickly brought up coffee kcups once requested. The resort calls itself a spa but simply has an adjacent establishment. The indoor pool is nothing special and one look at it and I turned back toward my room. Due to weather, I was not able to experience the outside pool. Upon checkin, I informed a rep I had found a significantly lower rate and asked if something could be done as the price I found on a third party site was over $55 less. She checked with her manager who also said nothing could be done. I was surprised to see management couldn't work something out in that regard. I would suggest others make a reservation that can be cancelled as day before/day of prices on third party sites can be significantly less depending on the time of year. Overall, the place is decent but I have experienced better customer service at Marriott and even Candlewood hotels. read more

I'd give this five stars, but: There is absolutely nothing more offensive than burying a "resort fee" in the fine print. I'm the type to value transparency in pricing, and wouldn't have cared had such a fee been clearly disclosed (or better yet, simply included in the price). To charge such a fee (as nominal as it is) and to state, "Well, it's in the fine print!" is enough to drive away a potential repeat customer. Everything else that might be great about High Peaks is negated by shady crap like a hidden fee. Therefore, I won't return during my next business trip to the Lake Placid area. Our check-in was wonderful. You get champagne and the most wonderful guy behind the counter who went above and beyond every time we needed him or had a question. The guy at the lounge bar who we saw a couple nights was awesome. That's where the awesome stops. Price of the room wasn't too bad ($220 in February) and it's right on the main strip so it's a good value. I think? Pillows are flat but beds are comfy and we had a nice view from our balcony (although the "superior view" room was actually facing the pool not the lake.) Our room always smelled a little like burning wood, which freaked me out at first but we tested the carbon monoxide alarm. I think maybe some rooms have fireplaces below the rooms on the 2nd floor. My main qualm is with housekeeping. When we arrived, our bar of soap had clearly been opened before we got there (box tab was mangled) and when I opened it, there was a big burly hair in it. I don't even know how that happens. I said "meh, ok, rookie mistake for not checking." Then we walked onto our balcony to find an old cigar stubbed out in a cup of soda on the table. Later that day they were cleaning rooms and I swear to god for two hours they were slamming doors so hard the whole floor shook every 60 seconds. I can't even imagine WHAT they were doing but it was obnoxious. Now on to a few days they didn't come at all, and the one day they did come the room had been thrown together like a teenager, the sheets were twisted and tangled, and the pillows were mangled and squashed like someone had been napping on them. And I know it's petty but usually housekeeping tidies up the joint, empties trash, moves the desk chair back into position, that kind of thing, but it looked just as hot messy as when we left except the bed was (kind of) made. One day the power went out and I guess their generator only powers emergency lights to so we went the day and evening in blackness without power, elevator, etc. It was that day we found out my father in law was in critical condition and we'd need to check out ASAP. Management was unsympathetic and wouldn't give any refund for the remaining unused 3 days. read more

My boyfriend and I had the Thanksgiving dinner buffet here while spending the holiday in Saranac Lake. Everything about our experience here was five-star. Every staff member was polite, attentive, professional and genuinely nice. Everything we ate was obviously prepared with care and attention to taste. We were so pleased with our holiday meal. This hotel and conference center is nice if your staying on the main property . Do not stay at the Lake House! The rooms are not even remotely comparable to the ones in the main resort. They definitely have mold which makes it difficult to breathe or sleep. They also do not have any form of elevators and they placed a known high risk pregnant attendee in the 3rd furthest room from a conference. They initially refused to accommodate a pregnant conference attendee who had a lifting restriction and needed access to a bathroom to vomit multiple times a day. Worst customer service ever. I wouldn't ever go back even after they finally moved me to the main building. read more

Beautiful place with an amazing view of Mirror Lake. Just don't get room 212 you will be looking at a crabapple tree. We started in room 212 with a horrible view and after asking the front desk about it they moved us t this beautiful room with a view. They were great at accommodating us. Also, with a resort this big you would think they would have more SUP boards and kayaks to use. Waited in line before they opened and they were late getting there and there was already a 2 hour wait for me to use one of the 2 SUP boards they have. That's my review. read more

I am staying here for a work conference and this is night two for me. The lobby is gorgeous, filled with Adirondack themed furniture, all as comfortable as it is beautiful. The whole lobby is Adirondack themed decor with a lovely fireplace right in the middle. I am staying in a double room. There is a giant chair with an ottoman in the corner and it was a great place to sit and enjoy a book on my off time. The best part is the view of the lake right outside my window. My bed was very comfortable and the pillows are nice quality. The bathroom is the nicest hotel bathroom I have ever been in and well stocked with towels and extra toiletries. I love the soap! The shower is a gorgeous walk in with stone wall and has a waterfall feature. The staff have all been very accommodating, friendly and helpful. It's been lovely stay so far, but some things to be aware of. Check in isn't until 4PM which to me just seems late and maybe it was because we were such a large group, but they did not have many rooms ready early. The WiFi is a little sluggish. IF you are staying in a double and you are staying with someone you don't know well the bathroom situation is a little awkward. The bathroom door is a sliding door with a large PARTIALLY frosted window. Meaning the top half is see through and honestly the bottom half was kind of see through as well. Our door also didn't latch correctly so we couldn't actually ever shut the door. This door would be a beautiful door for someone's home or camp, but it's a little uncomfortable for someone like me staying with a coworker. Also, no closet in the room and I like somewhere to hang my stuff. The fitness room is very small. I am glad to be an early riser because by the time I left this morning it was at capacity with someone waiting for my machine. These truly did not take away from my trip, but I got to stay here for free. I looked into pricing and it's obviously not a cheap place to stay, so I am not sure how someone paying for it would feel about these things. Myself, I think the place is beautiful and the view out my window alone is enough to come back for. I plan to come back next summer or fall on my own time for some R & R! read more

Hands down best resort in Lake Placid. The room, service and amenities were amazing. The bathrooms are very modern and clean and the rooms are huge. Very pet friendly too as there is a huge grass area and disposal bags for pet relief. We enjoyed using the free kayaks and peddle boats for use.They have coffee in the lobby as well as keurig cups in the rooms. This was an OK last minute hotel, but not worth what we paid for it. The receptionist sucks. When we first got there, she had my boyfriend go get the cart to put our stuff in, and when he gets it outside, the manager runs out to check if we are even in the main hotel. We weren't. The receptionist never moved from her little post. So we would've unpacked and had to repack to get to the room. On top of that, there's like no parking, so we got a $25 ticket. My boyfriend took the ticket to the lobby and instead of the smartass receptionist just doing her damn job and getting the manager, she told him he could've "just parked across the street". and carried all of our stuff across the street in 21 degree weather? i think not. she says to him "okay i'll go get the manager to see if he'll take care of it," and then UNDER HER BREATH, she says "or it will be your responsibility". She's lucky I didn't come in with him. We didn't drive 6 hours to be talked to like that. I really didn't appreciate it. I appreciate the manager for being so helpful, he makes up for her being lazy and rude. She gets paid to be an asshole? Like we could've went to a motel and paid meth heads outside of it to carry our stuff in. Lake Placid was cool, but it could use a little hospitality and maybe a single black person maybe??? Marriott lost heat so they booked us a room at High Peaks. I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy lobby, beautiful Adirondack decor & roaring fire going when I walked in. The staff was so friendly & accommodating. Our room was really cute & spotless. The location was so much better because we were within walking distance to the event we were attending at the Mirror Lake Inn & downtown shops. We will definitely stay there again! read more

This year was our first time going away for the Christmas holiday and my family and I decided to stay at High Peaks. Best decision we ever made! From the time we booked to check in, and throughout our week long stay, the staff was always friendly and accommodating of all of our needs and answered every question we had.
