Pool is also clean and refreshing after a hot busy day. And prices are VERY reasonable. Inside a little dated in some rooms but still clean and upgrades have been made where is counts, bathrooms and beds. Definitely worth it.

Very, very poor customer service, if you have an issue needing to be resolved. I also booked weeks prior for 10 days and something came up so I asked to switch dates to 2 days earlier- was told they could not do that, although they were not fully booked. Then, because of the lack of even trying to accommodate, I attempted to cancel but they refused a refund and said there would be an additional charge if I cancelled. It was obvious since this is a self-check in, self-serve motel that this is just an investment property as the owner and manager who are not onsite showed zero interest in making anything right, nor was there a willingness to be flexible- far from hospitable. Zero stars for customer service. I did keep my reservation but would not choose to stay here again. To be fair, the rooms were clean and nicely renovated, as well as the grounds, and self-serve area. That is the only positive experience but unfortunately, because of their horrible customer service, they lost repeat customers.

The guide service is located out of a bed and breakfast right in the town of Keene. They have tons of equipment including ropes, belay devices, and climbing shoes so if you don't have all the proper equipment for what you need to do they will provide it at no extra cost. We were given Chad as our guide who was awesome. Very knowledgeable and took all the proper precautions even though our climb of the Chapel Pond slab wasn't very difficult and wasn't very dangerous. Views on the top were amazing and we really enjoyed our climb. Will most likely be back in the winter to do some ice climbing.

Plus, we were attending the Whiteface Oktoberfest and it was a perfect location in the little town of Wilmington just a short drive from our point of our interest. Before hitting the road, we called the owner to make sure he was expecting us because we knew we'd be arriving late. It wasn't a problem, he even told us to drive carefully and not to hurry. He was very comforting saying our room will be ready and waiting for our arrival. He gave us the room's number, so we could focus only on getting to our destination and not worry about anything else. After arriving I was deeply touched. Our room was not only ready for us, but with warm lights, a quiet TV on, and a slowly spinning ceiling fan. We felt extremely invited. The atmosphere was homey and cozy. After many hours on the road it was exactly what we needed and even more. Our accommodations were clean and pretty. Even the shower had a new curtain for us. Breakfast was basic, but I don't have bagels often and it was like a treat, toasted with butter and cream cheese, yum! There was more stuff to eat but I remember the delicious bagels the most and hard boil eggs of which I'm a big fan. I met the owner and shared my appreciation for his hospitality. He has a dog. The dog looked like a statue at first, but he was just chilling and it was easy to take picture of him. This unusual looking fellow was seated perfectly still for my photo and got little bit excited around my breakfast, but so was I, so it was totally understandable. After that I knew he was alright. The breakfast area was a great spot for having a morning meal or coffee during the day or just relaxing reading paper etc. Our room wasn't with 'a view' like I expected, but honestly I didn't know what to expect. The biggest window was in the front, a typical motel style setting. During the day, being located closer to the road could be little bit annoying because of the traffic noise. The nights were super quiet. It was good place to stay.

To note for light sleepers who are not early risers: The suite is adjacent to the kitchen, so it is fairly easy to hear the early morning food prep, particularly from the room with the twin beds. Bringing an extra fan or sound machine would probably be a good idea.

We were charmed. PROS - Location location location. The cabins are located right in the center of things, never more than 30-45 min from all mayor hikes. - Cozy and comfortable. Each cabins comes equipped with most basic amenities (coffeemaker, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, silverware and glassware) - Parking is very close to each cabin, so you never have to walk more than a few steps. CONS - Wifi, even though it was offered we had mixed feelings on this. My boyfriends phone picked it up right away, mine never did. This was from our cabin, so perhaps if you were closer to main house it would have been better? I think they need a better wifi connection. - No microwave. I wish I had ask more specific questions. - Not that many hooks in the cabin. We did long winter hikes and needed a way to hang our clothes only to realize that there weren't that many hooks. We improvised by hanging in curtain rods and on the doors. This could be quite helpful. Overall, it was a good value for the money. Wayne is a great host. We never made it to the main cabin so perhaps some of the above would have been different.
