We brought my mother-in-law here to celebrate her birthday and we hoped she'd like the laid back pace of a quaint lake town and she loved it. We had rooms in the lake cottage and our room (5L) has to be the best room on the property because you have a corner view with a wraparound porch and the vistas day and night are stunning. She had 7L and she loved it as well. Our room was cleaned thoroughly every day and everything worked perfectly. The shower was awesome. A lot of times in an older property things are a bit creaky but our room was perfect (once we figured out how to turn off the temperature light on the AC at night). The only tweak I'd make to our room would be to add a ceiling fan, but that's just a personal preference. We had massages at the spa and that was nice. I had a great masseur and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the spa afterwards. There is an indoor pool area with a jacuzzi and an outdoor hot tub. Apparently there used to be an outdoor pool but that was removed a couple of years back. That would have been nice. We ate at the View, the Cottage and the bar and I've reviewed the restaurants separately. The bar was a great place for some shared snacks and desserts along with excellent cocktails and wonderful service. I loved just sitting on a rocking chair in a small screened in porch off the main lobby reading a book. It was so peaceful. The study area has tables and a fireplace and that was a wonderful setting to write cards to friends. As you can tell, we loved it here. There are some caveats: It's not cheap (though it's worth it, in my opinion) and parts of the main building are a bit worn and/or dated. However, the service is great from everyone, the place is spotless and comfortable and the vibe is exceptional. I've never wanted to stay any place longer as much as I wanted to stay at Mirror Lake Inn. I really want to come back in winter to see what it's like. This was simply a lovely experience from beginning to end.

After arriving I was deeply touched. Our room was not only ready for us, but with warm lights, a quiet TV on, and a slowly spinning ceiling fan. We felt extremely invited. The atmosphere was homey and cozy. After many hours on the road it was exactly what we needed and even more. Our accommodations were clean and pretty. Even the shower had a new curtain for us. Breakfast was basic, but I don't have bagels often and it was like a treat, toasted with butter and cream cheese, yum! There was more stuff to eat but I remember the delicious bagels the most and hard boil eggs of which I'm a big fan. I met the owner and shared my appreciation for his hospitality. He has a dog. The dog looked like a statue at first, but he was just chilling and it was easy to take picture of him. This unusual looking fellow was seated perfectly still for my photo and got little bit excited around my breakfast, but so was I, so it was totally understandable. After that I knew he was alright. The breakfast area was a great spot for having a morning meal or coffee during the day or just relaxing reading paper etc. Our room wasn't with 'a view' like I expected, but honestly I didn't know what to expect. The biggest window was in the front, a typical motel style setting. During the day, being located closer to the road could be little bit annoying because of the traffic noise. Amanda's seriously fit the bill. It is more affordable than most of the other properties in town, and the owners are super friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. They even set out coffee in the small lobby every morning. Can't say enough good things about these folks. Keep in mind, this isn't the Ritz - It's an old-school 1960s style roadside motel, and guests should be aware of that. We find that sort of thing charming, and even though it is an older property, it is absolutely spotless and well kept. If we ever need a local place again, this is where we will be staying.
