This place is run down & overly tired. Because first morning we had Do Not Disturb sign on door it was assumed we did not want it cleaned that afternoon OR next day. Towels were dropped off the second day but room not cleaned nor bed made. When asked for hot water for tea was told to use hot tap water. (Evidently no one drinks tea there). You can see from posted photos there is "stuff" everywhere on the property. If there is a pool it is well hidden unless the pond in front where geese were enjoying their swim is the pool. Finally I did not come to the Adirondack Mountains to hear opera blasted ( not a exaggeration!) throughout the weekend. Do Not Stay here!

This was our fourth stay at the Ledge Rock, and unfortunately our last. The new owners have not done the place justice. We have always enjoyed saying at this facility. It wasn't fancy, but was perfectly located and always clean with friendly service. We reserved Room 15 (the suite) for our party of six adults in July for our Oktoberfest stay. When we booked, the website stated it was a 2 bedroom suite. On the evening of our arrival we discovered that there was actually one bedroom with a pullout sofa in the living room. There was an adjoining door to another room, which was locked and occupied. When we looked on the site to reconfirm, the wording had been changed to state it was "available" with one or two bedrooms. Another misleading feature on the website was that it stated a continental breakfast, which there was not. After settling in, I immediately cut my foot on exposed carpet tacks on the floor. We had to wear shoes as much as possible because if we didn't someone got hurt. In the bathroom there was a dangerously loose hanging light fixture, inadequate locks on the door, cracks in the tub and a wait time of over 10 minutes for hot water (when I called to have someone look into our lack of hot water I was told to "just let it run"). There were holes in the wall that were not painted over, just patched. What had once been a very well kept place, looked like a junkyard. There were broken down golf carts, sleds, carriages, vehicles and junk everywhere. We brought our dog and paid the $25 (plus tax) per night pet "maintenance" fee. Although the grounds were riddled with dog feces, far from maintained. When I brought this to the attention of the owner, he proceeded to tell me that dogs were so much work for him, including his own dog that had just injured an employee and "sent him to the hospital". The dog was chained up outside the office. I'm glad I didn't bring my two young children! At a rate of $300 a night, you would expect a certain level of comfort. I would have been happy with tidy and safe at a minimum! It's such a shame.

Free Breakfast advertised but none offered.

A disappointment! We returned to this venue having enjoyed our previous stays in years past. Upon our arrival we learned, after having been led to believe and then paid for, that we would not be getting a 2 bedroom suite (for the 6 of us) and that there would not be free breakfast on offer (as shown on Google). Besides some inconsistencies with the advertising the one bedroom 'suite' was less than par. A three-way mirror installed in the bedroom, probably to 'enhance' the enjoyment of the vacationer, was creepy as well as tacky. Talking of tacky, the carpet in the living space had come away from the tacks rendering the tacks exposed. There were loose light fixtures and the owner's dog also presented a danger since it had attacked a worker a week or two prior to our visit, The worker had to be sent to hospital! This isn't gossip, it's a fact. The new owner purchased the property in January or February 2016 so they have much work on their hands to bring the comfort (and safety) levels up. This place is badly worn down but has great potential. If the owner would spend their money on improvements to the rooms rather than building a lean-to with WiFi TV it could do well. But, for the time being this place is only ideal for the location, not comfort or the safety of children. Next time, if there is a next time, I shall enquire about the cost of staying in the lean-to as that looked so much more comfortable, and modern, than the 'two bedroom suite' we had to endure. cc Trip Advisor, Google

Plus, we were attending the Whiteface Oktoberfest and it was a perfect location in the little town of Wilmington just a short drive from our point of our interest. Before hitting the road, we called the owner to make sure he was expecting us because we knew we'd be arriving late. It wasn't a problem, he even told us to drive carefully and not to hurry. He was very comforting saying our room will be ready and waiting for our arrival. He gave us the room's number, so we could focus only on getting to our destination and not worry about anything else. After arriving I was deeply touched. Our room was not only ready for us, but with warm lights, a quiet TV on, and a slowly spinning ceiling fan. We felt extremely invited. The atmosphere was homey and cozy. After many hours on the road it was exactly what we needed and even more. Our accommodations were clean and pretty. Even the shower had a new curtain for us. Breakfast was basic, but I don't have bagels often and it was like a treat, toasted with butter and cream cheese, yum! There was more stuff to eat but I remember the delicious bagels the most and hard boil eggs of which I'm a big fan. I met the owner and shared my appreciation for his hospitality. He has a dog. The dog looked like a statue at first, but he was just chilling and it was easy to take picture of him. This unusual looking fellow was seated perfectly still for my photo and got little bit excited around my breakfast, but so was I, so it was totally understandable. After that I knew he was alright. The breakfast area was a great spot for having a morning meal or coffee during the day or just relaxing reading paper etc. Our room wasn't with 'a view' like I expected, but honestly I didn't know what to expect. The biggest window was in the front, a typical motel style setting. During the day, being located closer to the road could be little bit annoying because of the traffic noise. The nights were super quiet. It was good place to stay.

We had the privilege of staying in the 100 Acres section of the campground for a few nights in July and loved everything about our stay. The campground consists of two sections; the Resort section and the 100 Acre woods section (just 50 yards down the road). The resort section is located near the office and is a nice, more open, but spacious RV camping area. The 100-acre section is a wooded campground beautifully arranged and maintained. We stayed in the 100 Acres area and were very impressed with the layout of the sites, which were staggered/angled to put the most space between each site. We felt very secluded even though there were other sites around us. Our site was level, spotlessly clean and manicured, and had good water pressure and hookups. The combination restrooms/bathrooms were clean and conveyed a sense of regular maintenance being provided to them. Customer service is top notch and the staff prides themselves on welcoming guests as family. We overheard a current employee talking to a new employee stating that even if the campsite wasn't used prior to a new guest arriving, they always do a thorough check of the site to ensure everything is perfect! This impressed us and aligned with the overall sense of pride shown at NP campground. The camp store is probably one of the best stocked stores we have visited. Additionally, they had growler fills from 3 craft beers of tap right in the camp store!! We loved our stay at North Pole Resorts, which raised the bar pretty high for other campgrounds to live up to!

Cons.... THE GUY WHO RUNS THE PLACE!!! I made the reservation over the phone, and I noticed the guy was a bit brusque over the phone. When we first got to the motel, there is a sign on the driveway that says "no U-turn in driveway." When I got to the front desk, there was another sign, that said, "no directions. Motel guests only.". I assume it was the same guy over the phone that checked me in, because he was again extremely brusque. I tried to make friendly conversation. We were up for a special event, I told him why we were up, and he simply said, "that's nice, sign here...". Also, inside the room, there was a sign that said bicycles are not allowed inside the rooms. You are expected to keep your bicycles out in the open overnight. Oh.....That could go well... Now here's where we get to the good part... He quoted me $140 over the phone. I booked with him over the phone because there was only a couple of dollars more than they were asking on Booking.com. The next day, when I checked my credit card, he had charged me $190! When I called him to ask about it, at first, he said, "let me look into it." And then, just like that, he said, oh, yes. I remember you. I quoted you 169, not 140, And I told you that there would be a credit card service charge. However, you didn't bother to listen. And then, he hung up on me. Now, I am going to have to dispute this with my credit card company, and it's probably going to be a he said,/ he said situation. Stay away from this place, you will get ripped off.
