Adirondack Queen bunk beds

You might overlook this stay when trying to book a night in Lake Placid because it's not centrally located in town, but don't let that detour you. The cabins are a short three minute drive from downtown. Our room was clean, comfy and warm. Although, if you need it dark in your room the curtains did not block out the lights outside.

Satisfied guest at the fire pit!

Friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking. Comfy beds. Clean bathrooms. Nice A/C unit. Nice kitchenette with barstools and a coffee maker. Good television. Fridge came in handy! Lots of fire pits, Adirondack chairs, and ample firewood!!

If you're low-maintenance, this place is great and will allow you to spend your money enjoying the many activities Lake Placid has to offer. If you are a princess, you many want to spend two to three times as much money on an upscale hotel closer to Main Street.

Clean friendly comfortable great view of Mountains snow shoes across the street you can cross country there too. Not fancy at all but a great place to lay your head. Close to everything. I would suggest bringing your own pillows. The lodge could be updated but it is very clean.

Bedding from Cabin 11

I'm writing this review based on two separate 5-night stays at Cobble Mountain Lodge -- a year apart -- in the summer. The first stay with them was decent. The scenery was beautiful, the rustic cabin décor very quaint, and the proximity to Lake Placid very handy. We stayed in Cabin 9, which was tidy and had enough amenities to meet our needs. We received daily housekeeping service for trash removal and clean towels. It was not quite high-end comfort, but suitable enough for us. The SECOND visit, however, was less than stellar. We stayed in Cabin 11, and despite it being non-smoking, there were cigarette burns on the comforter, threadbare (actually see-through) towels in the bathroom, torn shower curtain liners, burned dishtowels, dirty utensils, and absolutely NO housekeeping service. Quite a disappointment.

I stayed here six months ago in cabin nine, and this time I stayed in cabin 19. There are pictures for each cabin on their website, so I'll skip any detailed description of the rooms, but I will say that they were both nice. The rooms were clean when we got there, and any time the maids cleaned it they did a good job. There is a large fire pit in the rear of the property with plenty of seats for any amount of people. They have free internet, cable, and a large collection of DVDs to borrow if there's nothing to watch on the complimentary cable. Cobble Mountain Lodge is very close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away to feel remote and not be annoyed by the hustle and bustle of the town. The owner is friendly not only when he's doing business, but also when he's in town. We ran into him at Zig Zag's and had a nice conversation with him about Lake Placid among a myriad of other things.

Great little set up.

Good price, excellent location, friendly and has that Adirondack rustic charm. I'd stay again.

We had this HUGE MURAL of an eskimo with sleigh dogs looking at a cabin with mountains in the background.

Not too fancy or stuffy, comfy with beautiful grounds, great staff. Outdoor fire pit, indoor lodge, both with Mountain Views. As we found out the hard way, some of the best food in town is here! Overall, a no stress experience!

After spending a week at this hotel, I have many reasons why I would not recommend it…read more -The tub in our room did not drain properly, so we were standing in our own bathwater while showering. -There's no fan/vent in the bathroom. -The curtains do not open all the way, so you pay a premium for a lake view and cannot really enjoy half of it unless you sit right in front of it or go outside to an uncomfortable bench on a narrow balcony. -Most of the front desk staff was flat and unhelpful. -We asked the host to refill the black tea bags in the free tea/coffee area several times over the course of a few days-she would not do it and would only hand us 1 or 2 tea bags at a time. Is black tea too expensive and that's why the guests only get green tea?? (even though there was black tea days prior). We are paying $274 a night to be here for a week. That's a lot of money to pay to have to ask for black tea. -Very understaffed in the restaurant at night. I felt bad for the staff, they were trying so hard (except the host, she didn't try at all). -I talked to another guest who had lots of complaints and was on her FOURTH room because she kept having to switch due to issues. -The mini-fridge froze like half the food, (and no I did not put it in the freezer section). -Housekeeping was not prompt (would come around 3pm when we were back in the room to work remotely on a different time zone). -One of the self-service washing machines is SO loud you can literally hear it from 2 floors down. -The free kayaking is closed for the season while the other kayak rental in town is still operating...That was not clear when booking. The first day we were there, it was 85 degrees F and lots of people were out kayaking. It would have been nice to know that that wasn't going to be included. So overall, I would not recommend staying here. We wished we had stayed in Saranac Lake, but in Lake Placid there are plenty of other hotels with great views (and maybe the curtains would actually open all the way so you can see it).

There's plenty of seating in the dining area. It looks like a ski lodge. There a sofa in front of the fireplace with blankets and pillows. Rooms are clean. Housekeeping is wonderful. Front desk staff are top tier. Eddy and Webby were my personal favorites during my stay. There are staff constantly moping the floors throughout the hotel and elevators to dry the tracked in snow. I found breakfast to be okay; much better than other Hampton Inns. However, if the person responsible isn't maintaining the breakfast area, the waffle station gets really gross with batter everywhere. Some mornings items would be out and not stocked and was disappointing. Parking gets pretty crazy with all the snow banks. Cars take up more than one space and the handicap row gets really full. You do have to put a permit in your car during your stay. There is a FREE shuttle to and from Whiteface Mountain. I highly recommend this hotel and will return.

Overall great hotel, very nice we really liked it! Only cons, the Hilton Digital Key only worked part of the time, which made it a headache trying to get in from Fire pit or other activities. Paid for an upgraded lake balcony room that was blocked 90% by trees. So be aware of paying the extra for the balcony.

The rooms were clean and the hotel had a relaxed Adirondack feel to it. One thing I really appreciated was no crazy deposit hold on the credit card like a lot of hotels do now. Check-in was easy and the hotel staff were super cool and friendly the whole stay. A couple small downsides: there are no elevators, so carrying luggage upstairs can be a pain, and the AC in room 244 didn't work very well, especially at night. Other than that, it was a solid stay and I'd definitely consider coming back for the location and customer service alone.

There was a strong musty smell in the lobby, but it luckily did not carry into the very spacious breakfast room or our room, which was above the lobby. Our room had a view across the street to the Olympic Center. It had a king bed (very comfortable), with a couch and table/chairs. The shower was strong and had nice bath products. Be aware that the water is soft, which can mess with curly/wavy hair. The AC worked well. The breakfast had variety for the meat and eggs each day, but there were 4 kinds of bagels and no whole wheat bread or English muffins. The hotel's location was great for walking to restaurants in the evening. Mirror Lake, which is essentially out the back gate of the parking lot, has a very nice walking trail around it.
