Brunch was excellent. For $23, you get an excellent buffet of omelets, eggs benedict, hash browns, turkey, waffles, strawberries, figs, shrimp, crab legs, shrimp salad, chicken ceasar salad, assorted desserts and a choice of coffee or tea. We were at the resort and of course this is the only choice for food at the resort. We ate here a few times while staying at the resort and the service has a LOT to be desired. Talk about slow; if it were a course meal and the food was really worth eating and waiting for then it would be ok. It seemed like there was NO team work at all amongst the staff. The bus staff did not cover the servers at all. If your glass was empty or you needed something, no one cared. A server could come to the table next to you and see you need something and never offer to ask. Your server can come out to another table and never come to yours to ask if you need anything while they are there. It was like the focus was on ONE table at a time and that was all they could handle. The food was ok, nothing special, so if you have a car and the time/desire to drive somewhere else to eat, I would do it. If you do not feel like driving, then this place is ok, but be patient, because if you are in a hurry, this place will NOT accommodate you. read more

A group of us girls went there for dinner on our girls weekend 2-28 and we sat ordered drinks and the came to us and it was messed up, then we ordered and they where out of things on menu I understand the whole shit down but mark off what you don't have and don't argue with your guest on drinks not made right. If I order and rum and coke that's what I want not a whiskey sour. All in all food was delicious but service not so great. I would try again and maybe order better things to drink. read more

The service was outstanding as always. There Thanksgiving dinner was outstanding. This time a small dinner salad called "citrus seafood salad" very disappointed--I've had this salad before had shrimp and crab. The one today minute amount of crab and bay shrimp not real shrimp. The menu has changed dramatically and when talking with one of the staff members I was told that guests staying in the hotel have wanted more sophisticated menu not such a simplistic menu. Sanderlings has been one of my favorite spots for years. It is one of the closest restaurants to my home and I love the view. Since COVID this place has gone down hill, a lot. I've given them many chances but they can't seem to get back to their good days. Gosh, I miss the old staff from the chef to the hostess. Get your former chef back, please. Loved this restaurant. We had reservations and ate out on the patio at sunset with an ocean view. Drinks and wine excellent. I had the salmon club sandwich, yummy, and the ribeye steak was also excellent. Fish and chips not as good, and children's menu a bit limited. Still, a special evening . Service was excellent also. We did, however, chose to go anyways.. It's classical hotel food, decent quality, decent price, decent everything.. We ordered the tuna poke (salad), the salmon salad and an omelette.. My wife and I had a gift certificate for Sanderlings and decided to finally give it a try. First of all despite their website saying they serve brunch on Sat & Sun, they do NOT!! Their food was mediocre at best!! we didn't see our server for at least 20 to 25 minutes. I mentioned to my wife, "there should be a rule if you don't see your server in such a long time, you should be able to just leave"!! When we sank into our stuffed dining chairs and all felt like Edith Ann, we knew this would not be a tabbed-down experience. Crab encrusted prawns (2 of them, $24) were raw & sent back, lamb also underdone, "petite nasturtium salad" appeared to be just frisee. Decor felt '90's Denny's, the staff is earnest but untrained. The view is absolutely 5 star, however the food is so unmemorable, we won't be back -- and maybe not back to the resort because of it. :( read more

We decided to come to this restaurant for my father's 66th birthday, we have never been before but the restaurant looked lovely. But looks can be deceiving. We were seated by the manager who immediately snapped at us and said "Patience is a virtue" when we asked him for a high chair for my niece. My brother wanted to leave immediately after, but as someone who has worked as a waitress in the past, I know how stressful and difficult service can be. So we stayed. It was supposed to be a fun time for my dad, let's not let it get tainted in the first minute. However, that set the tone for the rest of our stay. We ordered our food pretty immediately, around 12:05, and then the waiting began. By 12:30 we got the clam chowder (the appetizer) and by 12:35 we got complementary bread basket... a 30 minute wait for bread, and soup that was already made. Okay whatever, my niece, who is 18 months, was getting kind of hungry, and our main dish was not coming. So we asked for steamed broccoli for her at around 12:40. It came quite quickly.... but raw. The broccoli was raw. Now, my brother got quite angry and went to talk to the manager, explaining that we have waited 40 minutes for food, not to mention the STEAMED brocolli was raw. He apologized and said that he would bring us a new plate of broccoli and that our food is coming within 5 min. HA. NOPE. Another plate of brocolli never arrived (and believe me the had ample time to make it). Our waiter then came and apologized for the slow service, and said that our food will come out "soon". I must say that when we arrived the place was fairly packed, but by 12:45 half of the customers were gone and there were maybe 15 tables... 3 of which got their food. I understand the initial slowness, but not the continued slowness. We explained that my niece is hungry and that we just want to get her food. He came back with plate of fries, which was very accommodating. He also said once the fries arrived that we were the second ticket and our food would come out in 5 minutes - 1:10. Okay, sure. We waited another 10 minutes. No food. My mom went and talked to another waiter and they said that they will check on the food, and they never returned. At 1:20 the manager arrived and apologized for the wait, but there is still going to be a wait. We understood that our food wasn't even made yet. AN HOUR AND 20 MINUTES. HE SURE TESTED OUR PATIENCE. At this point my dad got up and said, "today is my birthday, I wanted to have a nice time with my family, we have waited for an hour and 20 minutes, this is ridiculous." The manager didn't apologize, he just said "okay, then don't pay and go". So at least we got 3 mediocre cups of clam chowder and a complementary bread basket for free.... but wtf. read more

I was skeptical going back to this restaurant since we are vegan and the last time we were there they had very few options for us to choose from. Our server, Shannon, went above and beyond to discuss our dietary preferences with the chef who prepared the most delicious dish for us. This restaurant did an excellent job of handling a large (14 persons) graduation lunch party. The servers bent over backwards to handle all of the relatives' requests, and the food was very tasty with ample portions on every plate. The view of the ocean was gorgeous, and they provide great food at reasonable (for Aptos) prices. I'd say that you need to be skeptical about Bay Area reviewers, because 3.5 stars is not very accurate for this establishment. read more

Enjoying my yearly visit to Seascape resort with my sister having dinner at Sanderlings. I am staying at the resort for a week... Just wanted to say our first night here John was our waiter... Absolutely fabulous service! John was absolutely amazing and his customer service was off the hook! Absolutely impeccable! We are stuffed and more than satisfied. Nice view... crap food! What a joke! We arrived at 4:55 for a 5pm reservation only to find the staff angrily shouting at each other as they ended a meeting by the host station. The service was good, dinner arrived promptly but don't waste your money unless you enjoy completely lame food. We ordered the burger and ravioli and they were just garbage for the price. Oh and if you sit outside be prepared for noisily golf carts to go flying by every five minutes. Tourist trap!! read more

High marks for the cocktails (seascape 75 for me, had to get a 2nd!, spicy old fashioned for sweetheart with high standards for cocktails--she thought it was quite good, but a stirrer would have been welcome). High marks for the food: poke starter was excellent, my salmon entree was also quite good, her mushroom ravioli was the same. Final tiramisu shared dessert was delicious. Service was generally good, no complaints. Minor issues that are fixable if management cares to do so: we ate inside where the lighting was too bright and fluorescent for good ambience. (The lower level lights were LED or halogens and were nice, but the higher and brighter lights were fluorescent, giving it a cafeteria feel, too bad). Water glasses and cocktails were delivered without a napkin or coaster and were wet so created small puddles on the table top (no linen). Music was 70s to early 80s disco covers, not the best fit for a beautiful view and for the delicious food. This music genre is not our fave but volume was OK (as in low enough to ignore, especially after the cocktails). read more

I've dined here several times as we come to the Seascape Resort every year for the past 7 years. The service was lacking from the wait staff. I had the Aged steak and it was amazing. My wife had halibut and it was dry and not much flavor and the mashed potatoes were bland. Breakfast service was very bad as we waited at our table for 15 minutes before our server came to our table to take our order. Our coffee was never refilled, but breakfast was good. We ordered take out from Sanderlings at Seascapes Resort. The advertised price on their menu for a rib eye steak dinner is $31. My wife and I ordered two steak dinners. When the delivery guy showed up to our room, he demanded $83 per steak for a total of $166 plus a $40 tip on top of that. Two hundred bucks for two rib eye steaks is ridiculous. Not to mention the steak dinners came with two baby carrots and two potatoes the size of a grape. Very disappointed with Sanderlings and when we called to inquire about the price gouging they were ver rude and disrespectful. I would not recommend this place. Worst fish n chips I've ever had in my life. First time there after Covid lockdown with 2 other hikers. Were told outdoor seating was booked up. We sat inside by the window to view near empty outdoor seating the entire time. We all ordered fish n chips. Waiter was horrible for breakfast. BUT the busboy Javier was excellent very polite and helpful. Jesse that served our Food was excellent, especially when I told him I didn't order this side. Within minutes I had my correct side and was very sorry for the wrong order. Our waiter was awesome, friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. This review would have received 1 star if it were for the waiter being great. His name is Dustin. We were very disappointed with how this restaurant is doing things now. It's not a COVID issue, we asked our waiter what's going on and he said it is because they got a new chef who doesn't allow "alternates". My 5 year old has ALWAYS ordered butter noodles, the new chef refuses to make it. They have also removed numerous other favorites that the chef has taken off the menu. We ask our waiter about numerous items and his response was repetitive, "the new chef removed it". Amending my past review as things have changed at Sanderlings , they have "gone in a new direction " according to the bartender since covid they reopened and we were so exited as we love this place but right away noticed all menus had changed apparently they are trying to be more high end per the bartender so they no longer have our favorite foods like tacos and chicken sandwich which was sooo delicious now can have only high end things which aren't that good . We were staying at Seascape this past weekend for my 30th birthday. We had lunch there on Friday and breakfast there yesterday and today. The food was good and plentiful portions. Unlike the rest of the Seascape staff, the servers at Sanderlings weren't quite up to par. We found service to be slow with the need to ask server so times for items. The worst part was this morning when we had Dustin as our server. He made us feel like we were bothering him and was downright rude to his busser. Granted, we had over a $150 tab so it's not like we were there drinking water and taking up a table. Slow is one thing that we could work with if the server was communicating and being kind. This was not the case this morning. Next time we visit Seascape, we will look elsewhere for meals as I didn't appreciate feeling like a bother or witnessing that type of interaction between employees. read more
