Best coffee in town, hands down (I've tried a lot of the espresso stands in town and nobody comes close... call me a coffee snob if you will, I was born and raised in Seattle and I hate starbucks.) If you're having trouble finding something, the staff I spoke to was friendly and helpful - they'll set you right with a smile. With both used and new books on the shelves, the prices are quite reasonable. Their "blind date with a book" feature is a fun addition and a great way to encourage trying new books. And wander I did in Churchill's, through shelf after shelf of fiction, non fiction, vintage titles. I eventually left with a paperback I'd never heard of, a first edition of one of my old favorites, and a cool 1980 comic book that just struck my fancy. But more than the things I bought, what I really found in the meandering shelves of this little bookshop was the sense that there could be some treasure waiting for me around the next corner. In this little space filled with books of all kinds, Churchill's captures the feeling of discovery that all good bookstores have and online bookstores just can't replicate. My kids weren't with me this time, but I could hear them as I wrapped up my visit to Churchill's bookshop. "Come ON Dad, let's goooo already." I had to smile. I can always tell it's a great bookstore when I can hear my kids telling me I've spent too long wandering its shelves.
